Eastcoast- Yes, Liz only saw her as the woman in the picture until the flashback at the summer palace.
I'm willing to accept that KR was blonde in the picture because they didn't know who they would cast as KR and then once Lotte Verbeek was cast we are just supposed to accept she was a redhead because Lotte was the best person for the role. Liz never questions it. And the photo (which was last focused on in Cape May before we meet KR) hasn't been shown close up since. I wondered if they ever do show a close up of the photo again if they would reshoot it with Lotte and still wash it out so that her hair could look blondish in the light. who knows. Anyway, I also have wondered if it could be a parallel to Liz's life when she went blonde while on the run with Red. KR likely wasn't "on the run" the same way Liz was, but perhaps she had dyed it for a specific job in order to not draw attention to herself or to lay low for a while. Perhaps where she was working at the time was one of those places with very few redheads and she went blonde for the job?

I have been thinking about that lately lara about how we see her through their eyes.
Red saw her as a the red head and so did Kaplan. Liz had only known her as a blonde on the swing. I do not think Liz ever saw her until after the flashback she had of her in the yard at the Palace.
Eastcoast - Liz had always said that she had no memory of her mother. Which is why it was always strange to me that she remembered KR and the coffee can, and she remembered her as a redhead.
Of course, one reason why we may only see KR's through other's eyes is that she really did commit suicide. But it is interesting that everyone seems to have different impressions. KR the loving wife, KR the cheating wife, KR the doting mother, KR the super spy, KR the traitor, KR the assassin.
Did you guys see Aly’s post from TV Guide or EW (I forget which) that are rumblings that Jennifer may show up before the season is over? I hope it’s true!

It's in TV Line in the Ask Ausiello column. Michael Ausiello has always been a reputable source. I posted the info under spoilers.
I thought that Two Sisters Theme was headed somewhere!

I am stoked. I literally do not care what she is like, I just want to get to know her and see her interact with Liz and Red. Good, bad, in between. She’s welcome however she is.

But she may turn out to be the bones int he suitcase, and that's why Garvey knows the bones are linked to Reddington.
It’s possible, I suppose. But I tend to doubt it. He doesn’t have DNA on file and Garvey’s seeming lack of awareness of Liz’s relationship to him would rule that out. And it doesn’t link to KR which they basically beat us over the head with in the season 4 finale.

I still stand my my theory that Jennifer's DNA was in CODIS as a missing person. The bones could match that DNA. I think the only way the bones link to Katerina is through Liz's involvement - protecting her innocence.
As you know, I'm open to all theories that work. I'm not 100 percent on anything.

Yes that could make sense if her DNA is in the system. But my issue with that is that I cannot understand why the US marshals as an institution would put her in there as a missing person. She told her mother she was walking away and Liz said nothing about her being reported as missing or her absence being considered suspicious and therefore I figure they would have figured she was just done and they would’ve let her go risk her own life.
Something I have wondered is if Garvey himself could have put this DNA in the system and have been looking for this person all these years. So considering the bones could be hers. Perhaps he knew Jennifer? Maybe he was the handler of hers and Naomi‘s case at one point or perhaps he had been in love with her or in a relationship with her. If he had been concerned about her he may have put a DNA sample of hers in the system so that if she was ever located he would know. That could be possible. An unsanctioned entrance into CODIS which is something I have speculated that Red could have possibly done if you were trying to fake Katarina‘s death.

One of my thoughts is that Garvey was involved in whatever issue/case/person whose DNA was in CODIS and came up as a match, because thats how he found out that someone had sought to identify the DNA. I think someone said that the originating law enforcement office/dept/officer would be notified of any DNA search (or maybe that was, a match) with DNA they were involved in (missing person, crime scene, serial killer etc). I think the options are pretty much endless. It could be Jennifer (whatever her "assumed name was), although I'm still not convinced she was Red's daughter. That doesn't mean it couldn't be her though.
I believe that Liz said to Red that the US marshalls lost track of Jennifer in 2002. I don't know what their protocol is, or responsibility is, for those in WITSEC. And just what "crime" did Carla and Jennifer witness in the first place? If the US Marshals had some sort of responsibility for keeping track of Jennifer then I could see her DNA being in the system. It sounded to me from what Liz said, that they had attempted to locate her but could not and the trail went cold (and they haven't attempted locating her since). Why Red was "coming for her" was another question.

It may be that they didn’t necessarily witness a crime but given Reddington level of security and his job they may have believe there would be or perhaps there were actual threats against them and they thought this was the most suitable option. Even if Carla didn’t know anything there may have been people who believed that and may have tried to take her or Jennifer hostage in order to smoke Redington out or to force the US government to pay ransom. Because it is it is certainly cheaper to give the new identities and help them reestablish elsewhere versus paying for around the clock security.

Carla said in 2014 that Jennifer left seven years before, so that would be 2007.

Oh yes, my bad. Not sure why I was thinking 2002. Flora Segunda was published in 2007 so both things happened the same year
how could I forget that, LOL!

That would mean that Jennifer died sometime after 2007. Liz would be 22. Why would Garvey want the truth about that Tuxie? What is the connection you have? Is it just a hunch?
So this is a completely random and unsubstantiated thought, but I'm gonna toss it out there: what if Katarina had been given protection under WITSEC in exchange for information about Soviet Intelligence and what-not? It would have been a highly-classified and sensitive case so they may have kept it within very close ranks. Garvey could have been her handler. Red finds out that she's not only alive, but living safety in the US. She's possibly she's hoping to go back for Liz once she feels secure enough, and Red killed her to prevent her from getting Liz or was responsible for her death in some way. Garvey may have always suspected, especially if she had ever confided in him that they had been in a relationship. Maybe Garvey fell in love with Katarina? Perhaps Garvey is like Liz, fixated on an unsolved case, obsessed with justice for what he may have perceived as his own failure. If he wanted to find her, he could have put her DNA in the CODIS database and waited for her to be identified. And if he had always suspected Red, that may be why he automatically associated it to him.
Like I said, completely unsubstantiated and there are likely holes, but it crossed my mind.

Brittany - the thought has definitely crossed my mind that because Katarina was a double agent there could be a whole other story having to do with American intelligence and her and we have no idea what it is. I would think we would have had hints before now though.
I absolutely think it's telling that Red has seriously miscalculated Ian Garvey and he will pay for it.
Garvey is important to the history. I have suspected that the Nash Syndicate is a cover for something even more sinister.
Tatiana- the only hint we may have been given that she was a double agent was Red calling her a traitor to two countries. And possibly her assumption that if Soviet intelligence knew of the affair that the US did as well (though I'm not sure if that was real or if she lied to Kaplan).
But I agree Red has underestimated Garvey. I wonder if Garvey might go after Jennifer somehow. Perhaps use her as leverage to get Red to give him Liz?

That makes the most sense, especially because there's a lot of fan chatter about Jennifer/Carla/CODIS and Garvey bringing this all to a head.
Re-reading your post, yes, Garvey could have been on the case back in that time 1989-1990 and that's why he said do you have any idea who i am.

I do think its possible that Garvey/Carla/Jennifer are somehow connected because of the whole WITSEC thing, I think we discussed this somewhere, maybe its on another thread....
but how this would give Garvey power over Red I haven't a clue. And why it would turn Liz away from Red, I also haven't a clue. And why its Red's great secret that he won't tell Liz, I also haven't a clue.
then again, I've kind of given up thinking about who it is as all roads seem to lead to a brick wall.
Why would Garvey want Liz and use Jennifer as leverage for that? It doesn't seem he cares about her.

I think there has to be some sort of connection larar1 just because he is a US Marshal and has access to all that and apparently knows Red and something to do with the bones. There has to be a personal connection.
