Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Tuxie - I always thought that the mark from the missing hearts on the bunny was always very interesting. And completely randomly after I read your post I remembered the real-life homicide case of Caylee Anthony (Casey Anthony mom) whose remains were found in the woods, wrapped in her blanket and duct tape, and on the inside of the duct tape was the outline of a heart sticker.

Completely random.

Tatiana - It's interesting that your mind made the connection between the heart imprints on the bunny and the Caylee Anthony case. That heart imprint on the duct tape was so heartbreaking.

Where I get the bracelet idea is the two heart imprints that we see on the scorched bunny when Red picks it up after Liz's fake death.. Until that time, I'd never noticed those imprints. In the fire memories, Masha wasn't wearing a bracelet. I think the prints had to be left by whoever got her out - probably Katarina since we know she liked bracelets.

In Anslo Garrett on the beginning she Liz is going through her stuff from Sam the 2 hearts are on the Rabbit.

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

I was trying to find all the times we noticed Liz had a head injury.  I know the Pilot and a few others were mentioned.
Today I rewatched The Pilot to part way through The Good Samaritan.  She gets hurt a lot!
I don't know if anyone mentioned that in the Stewmaker she gets thrown off her feet from the blast of the helicopter.  Also in General Ludd when the plane blows up.
In Anslo G. She is thrown out the truck and pinched by one of the men.

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Eastcoast - Liz does get a lot of head injuries in Season 1 but never seems too phased by them.

Even though I recently rewatched Season 1 and 2, I didn't notice the heart imprints on the bunny. There must be something about the lighting or the other action that keeps me from seeing them. They really jumped out at me in Season 3 though.

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

hi all, last night I watched Gena, Frederick Barnes and General Ludd.  I picked up a bunch of number references, I put those directly on the numbers list under the Blacklist History thread.  From now on, I will add the numbers directly there as I sometimes forget to add them later - the latest in red.

Just one comment here on the numbers.  Something that was staring me straight in the face that I never picked up as a number - the age of 3 on the height chart in the Takoma Park house.  I always focused on it for the child, not the number.  Also, the number of the house is 66 (double 3s, anyway you want to cut it, and we are shown jury group 33 earlier in the ep, 2x33=66).  So one thought I had, are the numbers and the height chart symbolic of a hidden second child (the number 66 as a double 33 and the way the chart was hidden).  I always assumed that subsequent owner of the house put up the panelling over the chart, and my thought is still the same, it would have been awkward to tear away the panelling every six months to get at the chart, and those sorts of things are kept in the open anyway for everyone in the family to enjoy.  So my thought is that the "hidden" chart is symbolic.

The other things I noticed about the house that I hadn't focused on before, is that all of the walls are smudged in black - I think I probably just assumed it was just dirt and stains as a run down house, but it does remind me now of smoke damage.  Then, in the main hallway and living room floor is some sort of debris, that reminded me of photos taken of fire scenes, where there is a lot of black residue that collects on the floor.  Of course, these are just my impressions. I don't think, and never did think, Takoma Park house is fire night house.  But is it symbolic - second house? second, hidden child?

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

The only other comment I'll make for now on these three episodes are things that re-appear elsewhere in the series.  I'm going to start a separate thread on those and let you know when the first draft is complete. For now:

- Gena kills the Turkish diplomat by injecting a needle in his neck
- Barnes is shot by Liz because she thinks he is going to inject his son in the neck

-Cobalt makes its first appearance as far as I know - Colbalt 60 in the Gena episode

-one of the color swatches Liz is looking at for the nursery is called pumpkin

-there is a biological attack on the red line of the DC metro

- Liz's code name is White Bear (Red later called Reddy-bear) - may just be a cute joke!! LOL

-Red suggests he and Liz have a therapy session (this is the first time Liz is mad at him, for "framing" Tom

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

There are a lot of injections in the neck and neck injuries over the course of the series. I posted a list of neck injuries once, including stabbings, cuttings and chokings.

Happy New Year fellow Blacklister groupies :-)

I wonder what Red does to celebrate the new year?

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Hi everyone!  Happy New Year!  I'm currently watching The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, of all things!

I'm continuing with my re-watch of TBL and I am up to 1.13, I've put anything I noticed on the relevant posts (eg., Numbers).  But one thing I wanted to mention is how many times things are jabbed/inejcted into the right side of the neck.

Several of us previously noted injuries to the right side - Red is shot in the right lung, Stratos is shot in the same place, both Kaplan and Anslo are shot on the right side of the head (and the face), and so on.  But there are so many injections into the right neck I hadn't picked up on previously.  Of course who knows what it means.  But I never really noticed that before. I'm sure you could continue to re-watch and notice new things each time!  LOL

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Today I was watching Secretary on Hulu, one of Spader's stranger movies, and I noticed a character that ignites the plot is named Mr. Garvey.  Funny, huh?  I wonder if that inflluenced the name of our current BL big bad?  And we did have that out-of-left-field S and M subplot in Miss Rebecca Thrall. I would hope that's all we'll see reflected of Secretary's dominant/submissive theme. But who knows?

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Well, crap.  Now I'm only going to be able to think of Maggie Gyllenhaal reading out that letter to Mr Garvey and getting spanked by Spader when I see Ian Garvey on screen.  I hadn't thought about that.   I hope Ian Garvey doesn't start spanking anyone.  I'm out if that happens.  I'd prefer the woodchipper.

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Sorry about that, Brittany. Surely Ian Garvey won't spank anyone. But given his interaction with that doll ... LOL

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

I have searched for a while but cannot find the post I was looking for.
I Think someone had said that Garvey had laid the doll upside down after he sniffed it like some weirdo......  but when I did my rewatch he didn't do that.  He laid it facing up but the camera showed it face down.

Brittany, 196, I needed that laugh!

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Eastcoast - The original post about Garvey sniffing the doll was mine, but it was posted on Thrushes. You're right that Garvey did not replace it face down. It was an upside down camera shot - so an artistic decision. I noticed that on my rewatch too. Some fans have suggested the symbolism was of turning Liz's world upside down.

Re: Season 5 Fall/Winter Hiatus Discussions

Have started watching Wormwood.  Thanks for the info, Tuxie400, I'm enjoying it, or rather a better phrase is to say, I'm interested in it.

I still haven't re-watched the fall finale.  I'm going to find it hard to watch a second time, but I will do before the winter premiere airs tomorrow.   Interested to see how they handle it.  Its been described as a cross between Anslo Garrick and Cape May.  Having just re-watched most of Season 1, I realize just how tough Liz was in the season - she has shot and killed a couple of people and doesn't hesitate it seems to use force as part of her role.  Quite a contrast, especially when you stream the episodes.  So I'm interested to see her going for revenge.
