What do you all think are the chances that Tom dies this season? Ryan Eggold has been posting pictures of himself with members of the cast as of late and yesterday posted a picture of a ukulele that the Jons gave him. I guess a couple of Blacklist producers are doing the Magnum P. I. reboot and there has been speculation he might get to work on it. His instagram has felt a little goodbyeish lately. But it could be reading into it since we know of that scene.
If so, do you think Red actually kills him? Or that perhaps he won’t die but still leave the show?

My initial take upon seeing the scene at the end of 5.01 was that there was no way Red would be killing Tom unless Tom were trying to harm Liz or Agnes and this was the only way to protect them. I have believed that Red was shooting whoever had beaten Tom. We have now learned that he vanished in 5.08. Perhaps it’s McGee that Red kills and maybe Tom dies from injuries? *shrugs*
I still tend to lean towards Tom not being killed by Red, but I guess my certainty percentage might be a tad lower. But my certainty level that Tom will not survive has increased quite a bit. But I think the possibility of him surviving is still there.

Hi Brittany. I think it’s hard to know whether what Ryan is posting is misdirection - either to ramp up speculation that Tom dies; or so that we conclude it’s misdirection and doubt it’s the case. Lol! Keeping us guessing
I think Red is definitely looking down when he fires in the flash forward. It doesn’t mean it’s Tom though it could be someone else they shot when they came in the apt. and Red is finishing the deed Also we don’t know if that scene was edited so it may not be as it seems
Tom I think is surprised by whatever happens. If he were hiding he would not be in the apt
Of course Tom could still leave and not be killed. Agrees to be banished by Red or something else.

Agreed, Lara. It's hard to tell if it's legit or intentional misdirection. I could definitely see it being the latter. I feel like if Tom were to leave the show that it would be through death because he doesn't really seem to be the bad Tom like season 1. I think he loves Liz and Agnes despite his poor decisions and that he wouldn't willingly walk away from them. But they could probably figure some way to write that in a believable way. Even though I'm not big on Liz and Tom as a couple, I can acknowledge that they do love each other and their daughter despite how crazy things have been between them.

Without any real evidence to provide, my current guess is 70/30, with a 70% chance that Tom is present until the very end of The Blacklist series and 30% he's gone before then, with the "gone" happening THIS season.

Still hard to say what if anything is misdirection and we probably won't get any announcements on Magnum (if there will indeed be any) til after the Fall finale. Same with the photos on Ryan's Instagram - who is to say if he even took those, and for those from set, whether they are current? LOL Remember when Liz "died" and Megan removed her role of Liz in TBL from one of her social media accounts?
Somehow I feel that Tom is now integral to the story in some way, but I could be wrong. I could see him meeting his demise and having the whole show turned on its head! well hopefully we will know within a month!

I initially put this in the wrong thread.
I'm not sure what I think will happen. I think Tom's death could push the story in a different direction, such as push Liz over the edge into the black. But I also think Tom's presence adds some great stuff to the show. I guess we'll see.

Brittany - if Tom is killed, I feel as though it will need to be for an intense, perhaps explosive reason - and that could spin the series in an unexpected direction in more ways than one. Looking forward to see what happens.

JB did say in an interview that episodes 8 and 9 were setting the series up for a shift...so perhaps that's it? Maybe it isn't just who is in the suitcase, but what happens to Tom because of it?

I think the fact Ryan is now sporting a mustache is very telling. I don't think Tom dies. I think the mustache is part of his new undercover look while he's on the run.

Tuxie400 - interesting thought! And it looks like Ryan's hair has been shaved or cropped very close (like Red, LOL) Not the first time that Tom has shaved his head! And didn't they show Pete doing similar, in that scene that was parallel with Tom undergoing his Germany disguise? Could be....
they are going to have to keep Ryan under close guard and scrutiny while filming, LOL. They will have to smuggle him on and off set! LOL.

Ryan posted pictures today on his instastory with various members of the support crew (make-up, etc), but didn't say when it they were taken. No mustache and no cropped hair like we saw at the Knick's game the other day. The mustache could be a disguise, though I think it makes him stand out more...perhaps because I'm not used to him with a mustache. I guess we'll find out soon enough. It's already November! Almost fall finale time.
