Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

Brittany - interesting thought.  His words would certainly point to that.  I was thinking kind of the reverse, what if that is what Katarina did way back when, and it was Red who killed her at her request?  Something Liz needed that only KR could provide.  Just a thought.

Loved this episode.  Very well knitted together - the blacklister story, the themes and the deepening story of Liz's changes and the suitcase mystery.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

I thought they said Princess Sonia was registered as Lisa (not Elise) Wolf, but my ears are kind of stopped up right now.

lara1 - Maybe the plaid is a continuation of the chessboard theme.

Also a definite possibility.  I could see it.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

I just had a completely abstract thought - what if the person who took the suitcase and killed Nik is the same "acquaintance" that initiated the memory wipe two years ago - whoever that is!

Tuxie - then even closer!  Lisa is a form of Elizabeth too......

lara1 - Tom wore plaid in Season 1 a couple of times.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

Brittany - just some quick thoughts.  "Katerina" said to Red at Cape May, that she was death to her child.  And only KR's death could save her.  Red says his Hobson's Choice:

Both were doomed.  Both would die.  I chose the child

And we have the theme of a debilitating, killer genetic disease with Kirk.  And KR writing in her diary that Masha was safe as it was passed down through the male.  But then she had that weird look on her face

Then we have this episode that is about endings, last of their kind, all the royalty references etc  and the story line itself.

So what if Liz is the end of something (is that what makes her special) but what it is, is also a kind of killer genetic thing.

all the references to bloodlines and blood, blood type etc in the series

just some random thoughts.....will think some more....

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

And Lara...someone with high level Fed clearance you said?? Hmm...Harold Cooper? Maybe Red said to HC "when this DNA pings, trace it and send someone"

Assuming Harold and Red have always been in cahootz (is that how you spell that?)

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

JackPow, I thought that too.  I just think that someone was either monitoring unusual use of Liz's ID (kind of like google or similar when you log in from a device it doesn't recognize) or someone was looking for someone to ping the database.  I like your idea best!

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

I agree that it makes me think someone in high level government came in... the database they ran the DNA through surely links to NSA, CIA, FBI, etc.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

I can't believe Nik was killed and the suitcase stolen!!! I think the funeral next week will be Nik's.

This was a fantastic episode with three excellent storylines woven together.  I knew lara1 would connect the royalty and the endling concept.

While watching, I had a weird thought that perhaps Red kidnapped Masha because she was a donor match for his other daughter.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

Brittany - exactly.  all sorts of alarm bells could go off.

which intrigues me even more.....the person in the DNA database has to be very important to someone very high up in government - just my take.

Tuxie400 - interesting thought on the kidnap. I feel that there is definitely some connection with Red/Liz story with this storyline.... I agree this was an excellent, and near perfect episode.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

Maybe it's Jimmie Hoffa...people have been looking for that guy for years. Ever since meeting Red, I've thought if anyone could find him, it would be our Red.

Granted, I missed the first 15 minutes, but I feel like the complete absence of Red reacting to Laurel Hitchin's death is odd... she was his inside person at the Cabal.  Did he have someone else?  Is his role at risk?  Could this be related to the Cabal?

And Dembe isn't out looking for the suitcase anymore...another oddity.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

Tuxie400 - here is a wild, off the wall idea (why not?  LOL).  What if Liz had an organ transplant from Red's daughter.  I've been trying for several seasons to make a connection with Liz and Red's daughter, - that Liz therefore represents the last trace that Red has of his daughter.  And he refers to Masha as his daughter's name, Elizabeth because of that.  The second Elizabeth.  (Another one of my pet theories, as you know!)
So ballerina girl may be his daughter who he lost.  Just a thought

Didn't Liz mention a surgery to Nik during the childbirth scene?  Maybe it was just her appendix, I can't remember.

Maybe not - just some random thoughts.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

After tonight's episode I don't think the bones belong to a child.  they're someone who is very important in terms of the overall spy/Red disappearance plot I feel.  But still think its connected to fire night somehow.

Re: Episode 5.04 - The Endling - Discussion Page

lara1 - Liz's scar was shown during the childbirth scene. I like your idea about Liz being the recipient of an organ from Red's daughter. That would make her an endling of sorts.
