BBB - interesting thought.

And who will rescue Red from Kirk - cue - Kaplan to the rescue?  Or will she still be wrestling with mountain man?

As I've opined before Mr. Kaplan has probably completed a full risk assessment about the mountain man, including possible escape routes after putting mountain man out of his misery. Even in her reduced state Kate's brain is the most powerful force in the cabin - next to mountain man's stench, of course!

If Kate requires help she'll "accidentally" cough up Dembe's phone # - Dembe will instantly realize the only way someone could have that # is if Kate provided it - and if Kate provided it - that means she's alive. ROAD TRIP!

Dembe and Red with the Highlights magazine - priceless. I love how they can put a humorous scene into what can, at times, be a very dark show without it seeming totally out of place. This one took me back to them eating pretzels and watching, what was it, the 3 Stooges with the guy handcuffed to the bathroom sink in the background.

Honey West - The Highlights scene was the highlight for me. It was so funny that a banana was one of the hidden objects, especially after banana was last week's code word. The scene also made me think of the two of them watching 3 Stooges.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.07: Dr. Adrian Shaw Discussion Page

Between the Highlights bit and Red's capturing the doctor, I'm again wondering if Red has a diagnosis, not just nefarious motives.

The extraction of Kirk used a lot of resources. All sides seem to have unlimited budgets for their rapid response teams. I agree with previous discussions that Red has very high level support in the US government above the task force.

The use of the ship is interesting. With due respect for the law of the sea, as a practical matter the ships, containers, and the platform operate in a largely unregulated or unsupervised space.

Has anyone else observed that Sam, Kirk and even Reddington have similar physical appearance? I don't have a theory on this but it gnaws at me when I look at Kirk.

I hope we get some reveals next week!

All - "Highlights" was a highlight!  I saw a picture of the actual puzzle page - evidently Hisham and James Spader did the puzzle between takes on set!  I will find it and post a link for everyone.

Of course - the one object that Red could not find was the sail"boat"!!

Laocoon - i immediately thought the same thing and thought of our discussions over the summer

When the doctor asked him if he was ill, Red replied " You have no idea."

Back in  Season 3, the Troll Farmer, when Red and Liz leave the Troll Farmer's operations center, the Troll farmer shouts at Red "You crazy old man!".

Red replies : "You have no idea.".

Hmmmm

Actually, the doctor asked him if he was "sick", whole different set of possible meanings.

I wondered that about Red, too. That's one reason why I had thought that maybe he is looking for his replacement, maybe someone like Miles McGrath.

Kirk does have access to a lot of resources. That's why I was thinking he could be the "Russian Red".

I was also struck by the similar appearances, especially when I was watching next week's preview where Red and Kirk are face to face, and up close and personal. It also made me think of Red's comment in "Cape "May" about how there aren't many of us, you learn to recognize each other, or words to that effect. Maybe "they" are all related somehow.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.07: Dr. Adrian Shaw Discussion Page

Well, I liked the last 2 episodes an awful lot. The focus has been on Red, Liz, or many of the task force, and not too much on the Blacklisters. Just enough to make them important, but not too much of them.

I like how some of this week's tied in with last. Clever.

Some killer scenes with the Highlights. Loved it! Who isn't a fan of pulling-many-strings Red? Well, I am!

So either the DNA report from episodes back is fake, or these tests. Hmmm. The lines many have mentioned about a father protects a daughter seem pretty important.

Kirk wasn't too interested in protecting Liz, although he did seem to want to leave her all his cash. But then again, he had no real plan on dying, so that didn't mean much.

Red- protecting Liz (get out of the hospital)
Kirk - creepy "you will save me, Masha" and knowing what was about to happen.

Feel bad for Tom. I would be ticked if Mr. Tabs checked in for a surgery with no notice.

Oooh, and I can't wait to see what the twist is as to why Red needs Dr. Shaw.

All - ive now posted the link to the Highlights puzzle on the links page

Honey West - i am now watching "Honey West" on TV!  One of the networks has a marathon. I have never watched  it before. Though i watched Burke's Law. Which i understand introduced the character. I like it. Kind of an American version of Diana Rigg's character on the Avengers.

Its on a network called "Decades". Not sure if you have it there. I think its owned by NBC but not sure about that.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.07: Dr. Adrian Shaw Discussion Page

Tabs #90    I wondered for a moment if the hospital DNA was faked, but if it was, it wasnt Red. He seemed surprised by it and i doubt he'd put Liz in danger. So the question is did someone else?  Evil kirk assistant?

Somehow though, i think the 30 year old test was the one manipulated and put in the file. Red didnt seem phased by it, and kirk didnt seem to know about it.

I agree with your comment - "creepy" Kirk saying, "Masha you will save me"

If anyone hasnt read the Entertainment Weekly recap of the episode, i highly recommend it. It is highly entertaining and makes that "creepy" kirk point too, Tabs!

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.07: Dr. Adrian Shaw Discussion Page

lara1 - Thanks for the link to the Highlights puzzle. I found the sailboat right away too. Still looking for the banana.

Tabs - I also would be upset if my dh checked in for a medical procedure without telling me. Tom really has a lot of patience with Liz. What I couldn't believe was that both parents left Agnes right after getting her back. And Liz didn't even ask Tom who was watching her.

I noticed the name of Dr. Shaw's ship for the medical trials was the Lady Curie. Marie Curie died from aplastic anemia believed to have been contracted from her work with radiation.

Tuxie400 - that is so interesting, and another radiation link. So the disease runs in Kirk's family, but suppose radiation exposure played a role also?

Also - i found the same 2 strange things. Liz does a medical procedure without even a call to Tom to let him know her decision?  What?   And who is watching Agnes?   Hope she doesn't go missing again, i don't think  i could stand it.

Perhaps Mr. Kaplan's twin sister Gabe is looking after Aggy??? Otherwise - Gena Zanatakos - is she still kickin'?

I think Agnes story-lines are going to be depleted going forward. She was there as a prop conduit to Kirk, that's about it!

I just loved Red coming on to Samar - and how she remained oblivious! That was her high point in the ep. Low points were getting rolled around by the first suspect near beginning of show. Then getting trapped by one of the thugs on the Madam Currie. I thought she was a stone-cold killer w/ Mossad training. Now, I'm not so sure!

Thanks for the link, lara1, I'll have to check it out.

And also for the Honey West heads-up. I checked and it seems we have that network on one of the over the air stations here, that I didn't even know existed. I'll have to hook up the old rabbit ears and see if I can get it to come in. That would be fun to watch. I haven't seen the show since the 60's! We watched all of those shows because my dad liked them!  Emma Peel was a particular favorite and a comedy with Julie Newmar called My Living Doll.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.07: Dr. Adrian Shaw Discussion Page

I have only one Person of Interest who ends up making the save for Red in his seemingly unwinnable situation vs. Captain Kirk . . . . . and (drum roll please) . . . . .that

person is . .. .  .

none other other. . . . .

than . .. . . .

Mr. Kaplan

Yes, the same Mr. Kaplan who seemed just a couple eps back to be in total captivity by Mountain Man, Andy Griffith, Jr.

I suspect the show-runners might ruin a beautiful scene for us viewers and have The Kate Escape done entirely off-screen!

So no reveal on how Kate outwits and subdues the powerful paranoid Mountain Man!

All in a days work at The Blacklist!

Also don't think there's gonna be more than 1 decent reveal on the Fall finale . . . . a minor reveal but more questions opened up - - - - - - that's the way TV has to be done these days!
