Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Oh no, not another wedding! I'm surprised Liz and Tom would risk it.

I loved Dembe's using the FBI's Hostage Negotiation strategy, and who knew he had those chef skills?

I couldn't hear anything much the Dennison guy said. Was his last word Oleander?

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Jackpow- I saw your cousin.  How exciting that he got to do that!

I managed to watch through a glitchy stream online.  That heist on Blaise's estate!  What a hoot!   Liz is wearing red like she's off to join the communists, is already making questionable choices when it comes to Red's work rebuilding his empire,  and wondering what it means about her (go to the dark side, Lizzy.  They have diamonds and expensive wine).  Cooper is wound way too tightly.   I wonder if Red realizes something's up with Tom?   And I wonder if Tom's suggestion that they get married is because he genuinely wants to or because he needs to pull Liz in closer as he closes in on the suitcase?  There was a picture on Ryan Eggold's Instagram of him wearing a wedding band and saying "just married" in episode 6, I believe?  So I'm thinking they probably do get married (or it's planned?).  Oh, the agony of the weekly wait with network television!

I'll have to watch again tomorrow on the NBC app for more input.

That closet scene with Tom behind the slats - makes me wonder if he was the other child I saw in the closet with little Liz in the fire memory......unless its just another parallel like the others I keep seeing!

That's what I was thinking too!

I'm interested to see what Oleander refers to.  I believe the Oleander flower is poisonous...*cue ominous music*

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Lots of good moments, hard to pick a favorite.

Tuxie400 - yes I thought Dennison said Oleander.  What does that mean though?  Is that who has the answer re the suitcase or is that who is in the suitcase?  LOL I couldn't hear him well enough....time for the transcript.

Red is so great with a con.  It makes me wonder - is he as broke as he is making out?  What if he is exaggerating the extent of it -- part of a plan maybe.

Yes, I think Red is on to Tom now - something the way Tom said what have you been up to?....Red is good at reading people.  Not a clever thing to say to Red, IMO.

Good to see Red back in his suits.  I hated the casual wear he had --- until I found out he was borrowing the motel manager's clothes.....that gave me quite a chuckle.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

I wonder if Dennison's last word was a nod to the movie White Oleander. Suitcases come into play at the end of the movie where the girl, Astrid,  turns her suitcases in art. She is last seen tending to her art; suitcases depicting all she has been through. As she passes them, she closes each, stating she will never visit the horrors they contain again.

Good catch, Tuxie.    And she changes her hair color, when a child her father leaves and her mother later kills a boyfriend.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Someone in a FB group I'm in always posts the previews for next episode shown in Canada.  That one talks about DNA being extracted from a tooth on the skeleton.   I feel like they might move this suitcase drama along a little faster than some of the other storylines they enjoy dragging out.  But I think the fallout from it may last all season (and possibly then some).

I'll have to look for that promo. It sounds juicier than the NBC preview.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Brittany - I wonder if they'll be able to match it.....Well we've had enough storylines about DNA so its fitting in a way that a critical piece of the story (it seems) will come down to the DNA used to identify the remains.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

I agree---the NBC ones are usually dull unless it's a big sweep time or finale.

I wonder how Tom would handle the DNA once he has it?   It probably falls back onto who he thinks it might be, if he has any ideas. I'm still of the suspicion that the world is supposed to believe it is KR and it won't be.  And then the world starts falling apart because everyone is looking for her.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Brittany....hmmm...What if Red helped KR fake her death (we've talked about on these pages before), and not even Kaplan knew?  And Kaplan thought those were KR's bones...and that was the truth she wanted Liz to know.  That would be a wild twist given that Kaplan orchestrated Liz's "death" and found another body for hers.    And if its discovered its not KR, then as you suggest, all hell will break loose.

It would also fit in with the thoughts I had about the bones being moved more recently, because someone was on the verge of finding them.

Interesting.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

That has pretty much been my thought process on it.  Red faked KR's death years ago but probably hadn't worked with Kaplan either long enough to know if she could be trusted with the secret or believed her loyalty to KR would interfere so he told her that he killed her or found her after she had committed suicide.   But I think Dom knows the truth, and that's why Red never told Kaplan about Dom.  It has been bugging me why he would trust her with everything else and because Bokenkamp as said in an interview that Kaplan could have had no way to know that Liz was going to find out Red is her father and that it changes everything with regards to what she has done.

And I agree--I wonder if Red worried that the bones would be exhumed and tested...but how would he have explained it to Kaplan without her being suspicious?  Oh my, what if Red told Kaplan that he killed Katarina (but hadn't) and that with her help they were going to keep the rumor of KR being alive strong enough to keep people scared, but not enough to draw too much suspicion, but then it backfired and they had to move the bones?  My head hurts...

Tuxie - Thanks for that! I knew Oleander was something but I never did link it up. Great background :-_)

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Tatiana - In the White Oleander movie, Astrid, like Liz, never got the chance to know her real father. She was shuffled from foster home to foster home while her mother was in prison for murdering her boyfriend with oleander. Astrid craved family, much like Liz.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

Brittany - interesting thought on Kaplan and why she never knew about Dom.  And Dembe kept Dom from Kaplan also.

Its possible Kaplan "thought" Red has killed KR - maybe that's why she had such an adverse reaction to meeting him in Requiem?  LOL, time for bed, my head hurts too!

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

lara1-it boggles the mind, doesn't it?  But Red is so many moves ahead of us that we have to step up our game.
And we do love our parallels in this world (and they are especially prevalent with Liz and Red)...Red fakes KR's death because she's a danger to Liz and because he can't kill her because he loves her, despite everything she's done to him.  He imprisons her (possibly on that island) and uses her for information to help him build his empire. A la Liz holding Tom on the boat in season 2.  Red was awfully understanding of that whole situation.

I'm eager to watch this one again.

Re: Episode 5.02 - Greyson Blaise - Discussion Page

The audio in the scene with Tom in the closet wasn't good for me, either.

I'm trying to piece this together: Dr. Nik said Mr. Kaplan had a confederate who should know whose bones those are. Is Oleander her confederate?

I'll look at the transcript when it comes out.

Good episode! I wasn't expecting Red to give Harold the gems.
