How did I miss that?

Undoubtedly all of us have watched the Blacklist and realized after a while that we missed something completely obvious.  One thing I just realized had gone completely over my head is that Dembe's daughter is named Isabella, which is the Spanish and Italian variations of Elizabeth.

What are some other things (big or little) that you all have missed in the show?

Re: How did I miss that?

Oh boy! This is fun topic! I'm going to come back to it for sure because I know I've had many moments like that!

Oh!! Actually, I was able to Edit this reply in time: The first time I watched Cape May, I disliked the episode very much. Why? Because I had no idea that was supposed to be Katerina!!! Or if it was a dream/hallucination or real!! I thought it was extremely far fetched that Red would run into this girl at the resort, she'd willingly spend time with him alone there, AND they'd be pursued by bad guys. (Embarrassing, right?!?) Then as soon as I read everyone's comments here, I was like "OH!!!!!!" and now of course, after several re-watches, think it's one of the best episodes in Blacklist history! If not, the best.

(Especially if one day the Redarina theory comes true. Then it really will become the best episode, second to that reveal) Even if Redarina is nonsense, the episode still was one of the best that will no doubt require multiple re-watches to see how it plugs into whatever the big secret backstory is.

Re: How did I miss that?

Brittany - I'm sure that there are loads of little things many of us have missed.....and the more knowledge and info we accrue, whenever I go back to an old episode I notice things I didn't before, or things that had no significance then but may now that we know more.

I don't know if you've noticed, but there are many references to the name Elizabeth littered throughout the series - nicknames, variations, and the name in other languages, starting with the little girl rescued in the pilot, Beth.  And there have been more incidental references too.  I'm pretty sure that the novel "Emma" has as part of its plot Emma's sister, who I think is an Elizabeth (I would need to check that, I might be confusing it with another literary reference in the show - but you get the idea).  Between that and Flora Segunda, its one of the reasons why I think there were/are two "Elizabeths".

About a year ago, one of the members of the group listed all the characters who have more than one name and "Raymond" was the only main character who does not (to our knowledge) have a principal second name.  Which just gives me more pause to think that he's not Reddington, he has another name....not that it proves anything LOL!  It might in fact be referring to the opposite....he's the only character who really is who he says he is....

Ha!  I didn't know what the heck was going on in that episode the first time I watched it until the very end when Katarina tells him that he had to choose between her or Masha and that he chose well.  Then I realized he was hallucinating all of it.

Another thing for me was the whole Fulcrum inside the rabbit thing.  I couldn't figure out why Red didn't just try to find the rabbit.  Surely he wasn't above breaking into her home and looking for it?  (Maybe that isn't an obvious thing---I don't remember if it was ever determined how it ended up there).

Re: How did I miss that?

JackPow - don't worry, I don't think it was at all obvious that the woman in Cape May was supposed to be Katarina.  At the time there were a lot of discussions as you can imagine - off the charts!  I think most came down on the side of the "mysterious woman" being Red sort of talking to himself, but as his alter ego or conscience, or whatever you want to call it.  Talking to himself and trying to reason things out, make sense of things, while he was dreaming under the influence of his opium trip.  We all know that dreams, while rooted in reality, can at times be strange, with pieces of real life that are different than real life,  and we have to figure out what they really mean.

My own view is that I'm not even sure the was meant to be Katarina at the time.  Only in the very end scene where Red is lucid and though he still "sees" Katarina, finally knows who she is.

Re: How did I miss that?

Brittany - I'm not sure Red ever knew where the Fulcrum was.  The man in the argument seemed to know, but I don't think we have found out yet who put it in the rabbit.  I don't think it was Red or he wouldn't have taken Liz further through the fire memory recall.  Or, I think you are right, he could have just got the rabbit from Sam or asked Sam if she had her rabbit.

all of which of course deepens the mystery of who the man in the argument was, how he knew where the fulcrum was (or that's the impression that's given), and why Red did not know.....
