That is so funny. When I started watching it the 3rd or 4th time I was wondering who else is doing doing this over and over again? Lol

Heehee, Red looks like he's having so much fun acquiring a new ride and causing trouble for the cops. And this is the opening scene? We are in for a wild ride, I think!
T-6 days! I can't wait! I loved that opening so much. I've definitely gone back and rewatched it.

There is a new spoiler on Aly's page where Red calls Liz his daughter. So I guess he is admitting it.
And in one of the spoilers I saw on Fb, Cooper let's the cat out of the bag about the DNA test. I was wondering if he was going to keep it secret for a while so their task force wouldn't be compromised or not. I guess not!!

I watched that new promo too. I really want Red to be her dad, but I don't think Red's really admitting he's her father in that scene - not quite. He's just asking if that's why Liz is afraid of him now. He's playing along with what she thinks - like he probably has many times before.

Hmmmm. Clever writers.
Also, if he isn't her father, there is probably a good reason why he isn't denying it and is playing along. In that scenario, having decided not to deny it, he is going to have to act like it. Maybe if he's undercover his cover would be blown - if he had to admit he's not her father, he's also saying perhaps that he's not Reddington. Or if he's not her father, he may see that (playing along) as the best way to keep her safe at the moment - to deflect from her "real father" while he is in his current weakened state. He has said in the past that to know her father would put her in grave danger.
If he is her father, he must have known, by coming back in her life, that he was placing her in danger, not protecting her - it would be very easy to have a DNA test done on him to prove he was her father. If he's not, those worries go away.
I'm not saying he is not her father. There's plenty pointing to that! But equally, I think, lots pointing away from it. I tend to think he's not, or if he is, there is a twist to it. But I'm going to enjoy the F/D dynamic for now, whatever the outcome! I think its going to be interesting and fun to watch (and maybe give us more clues about the ultimate endgame!)

On the other hand, with his empire in ruins, and obviously enjoying some down time, perhaps he no longer poses the same level of danger to her that his old position caused? Which makes me wonder if it wasn't so much who he was but what he did that made it dangerous to reveal the relationship? Or it could be that now he has "trained" her well enough that he feels that she can protect herself even if she knows the truth. Now she knows what could be coming and is better prepared. Certainly the Liz of season one would have been a sitting duck for any of Reds enemies. Now she's a lot smarter about these things.

Honey West - could very well be. I just find it so improbable that if her father he would enter her life if he was that dangerous to her. His identity could have been revealed from day 1 - in fact Liz did a DNA test from the time of the very second episode.
On the other hand, when confronted by Liz with the DNA test in the finale, he didn't say - oh how can you trust a DNA test? But he may have simply played along as that was the safest thing to do, and let her believe that was Kaplan's "truth" she was going to tell Liz. ( yet I'm not sure Kate ever knew, or believed, that to be the case).
After Liz's death, cast and writers talked about her death and the effect on Red. She wasn't really dead. Now they talk of the F/D relationship. Red has assumed many false identities, this could be another... Liz's father
Having said all that, I'm going with the F/d thing for now. I think it's going to be really fun and interesting to watch. And it will be a chance to rest my brain! Lol. But nothing would surprise me with this show!!😁

Heehee, Im going with it, too, unless we are told otherwise. But I always remember what he told her about not telling her. There are truths that she needed to discover for herself because he wasn't going to tell her himself. That's pretty wide open, but maybe he figured that if she was smart enough to figure it out then she was smart enough to be able to survive the truth about their relationship.

Could be, HoneyWest. I did actually believe for quite a while that Red is her father, despite some contradictory, or at best, ambiguous hints to the contrary.. then when I completed my re-watch at the end of last summer and started re-examing it I found more questions than answers (what's new, LOL!).
Tuxie400 - did you notice in the clip, he is still using the daughter, but not father, word? heh heh.

lara1 - I did notice that Red is still using the daughter nomenclature. He still can't say he's her father. LOL
Honey West - Thanks for the link to the TV Guide article! Bokenkamp says the paternity issue is over. But he's never uttered the words "Red is her father" either.

LOL! So true, Tuxie400!
I don't see an issue with Red not saying "I'm her father" or whatever. He probably doesn't think of himself that way. And he did promise Sam that he would always be her father.
Despite my own beliefs that he's legitimately her father, I think the show runners are going to put that to rest now because when you read the comments on social media from general public who say they've quit watching, it often times includes something along the lines of them getting tired of dragging the 'is he or isn't he her father' story line out too long or having too many daddy options. They are going to want to keep their show on the air and I think the general viewing population (the majority of viewers) would be upset if they tried to pull the 'just kidding!' thing again. They were already a late renewal for season 5.
I'm dying for this season to start!

Hi Brittany - I tend to agree with you. (that and the protracted baby drama turned off a lot of viewers I think) And I think somehow the "is he her father" question overshadowed the who is Red, and what is their connection, why is Liz so special, angle. But I would not be surprised if they reveal otherwise near the very end of the series (which hopefully still isn't for a while yet!). But whatever the outcome, I'm still intrigued to figure out the real connection, the real reason he came for her. Wish me luck with that one, LOL!

Exactly, Lara1. The baby was another thing (I hated it at first, but it has grown on me). The why Red is there is so important. They've said that he didn't come into her life because he's her father and we need to focus on the why. Red is always a few steps ahead of everyone else and there is always something in it for him with each blacklister. There have been interviews where they talk about how the bones put Red and possibly Liz in danger. Which makes me less inclined to feel like the imposter theory is at play here. I mean, if those are the bones of the "real Red", what danger is there in that? So they have a case of identity theft in addition to all of his other charges. They'd nullify his immunity deal and everyone would go back to their lives while this guy rots in a hole in the ground. Who would care (besides Liz on an emotional level and the FBI on a legal level) that this guy stole a dead guy's name to commit crimes? I can't figure out a threat to Liz (and possibly the rest of the task force) if this Red were an imposter. That's why I feel like he's the real deal and that the threat is something that he can only anticipate (and it's bigger).
“THE BLACKLIST” Season 5, Episode 4 “THE ENDLING”10/18/2017: Liz (Megan Boone) and the Task Force hunt for an elusive criminal who will stop at nothing to destroy some of the world’s most precious treasures. Meanwhile, a surprise encounter leads a cash-strapped Red (James Spader) toward a new business opportunity, and Tom (Ryan Eggold) takes action to investigate the bones in the suitcase. Poorna Jagannathan guest stars.
Red is still broke and the suitcase is still being explored as of episode 4. Dr Nik is also in episode 4. I don't see him listed so far past that on IMDB, but that doesn't mean anything. Clark Middleton is supposed to be in episode 3 and he isn't listed yet.
And for some reason, I had my episode count off in my head. Episode 11 will be the 100th episode, so that will possibly (hopefully!) be the fall finale (11 weeks would be 12/6/17)? The winter Olympics will basically keep everything off of NBC for the entire month of February so I'm hoping we don't have a long fall hiatus because we'll have a month-long one during the winter. I imagine the 100th will be something big.
