EAstcoast - great observation! Yes the balloons are very reminiscent of the birthday party scene in Scottie's home movies in Redemption. I can't tell if the children would be around the same age, but that's a great observation nevertheless! Can't wait to see what the scene is.....

My first thought that came to mind when I saw it was the scene on Redemption when Scottie was watching her home movies of Kevin on his bike and the Bd party.
I also was thinking about the houses it showed on the Requiem that were on fire. I'm sure the scene they showed was from an old news clip somewhere and maybe this was what they felt was close enough.
Looks like a flashback of some kind. I get the feel this is a flash back to Tom more than anything for some reason...
Could be where the fire was and showing Liz playing?
Would be interesting if Liz knew Tom back then.
I thought the same thing! I've wondered for some time if Tom and Liz had maybe met when they were children, before the fire, or at least before her memories were tampered with. Red had indicated at one point that he knew who Tom really was and I wonder just how much he had dealt with the Hargrave family back around the time of Christopher's disappearance. It also has made me wonder if Red knew more about that disappearance than he has said. Like, why insert the Hans kidnapping story into the mix, besides showing how far Red had gone in the past to forge his criminal alliances? Maybe he's used that m.o., or a variation of it, before?
Eastcoast and Tuxie400- I agree about the humor. I'm so glad to see the show lighten up a little, especially after two heavy seasons. Liz also seems to have lightened up a little, which is nice to see.
I just read an article about an actress (Alicia Minshew) who has been cast as a doctor in one of the upcoming episodes. She is playing a surgeon who performs open heart surgery (according to her interview). I seem to remember someone in the FB blacklist group I'm in posting pictures from the set of a picture of a hospital emergency room sign and another of Red walking around in a bathrobe and lounge pants/t-shirt. I had assumed this was just James in his personal clothes, but now it makes me wonder if Red could end up needing open heart surgery this season?

Brittany - that is interesting...I remember seeing those photos of Red wearing what looked like pajamas and bathrobe....maybe this doctor is new to Red's new ICU team....there were also spoiler shots of the actors playing Tom and Nick in a building made to look like a hospital. Though that may not be connected at all.
Can't wait...!

HW, I have wondered since we first saw her episode how well they all knew each other. She talked about his friendship with Howard, but it was they way she answered him when he asked her who hired her that made me wonder how deep that well is.
She said, you know who. Red said he wanted her to say it to be sure. After we saw Kirks episode it made me think the Hargraves probably knew about the affair he had with Kr and that he took Liz. Why else would she say that?
Then after the Hans story it does make you wonder...

EW article with comments by JB. Thanks to Aly for retweeting Cerri Mary's posting.

Thanks HW. The promos and spoilers are starting to rush in like a tidal wave! lol can't wait.
East coast - my gut is that Scottie and Red (and Howard) know each other from way back. In what capacity we don't know yet.
Remember Red seemed to only tell Tom about Scottie as a last resort. I don't think he really wanted Tom to know. But that is just my take. 😊
Episode 5.03“THE BLACKLIST”“MISS REBECCA THRALL”ORIGINAL10/11/2017 (08:00PM - 09:00PM) (Wednesday) : While the Task Force investigates a series of suspicious police shootings, Agent Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) is distracted by increasing external pressures. With his back up against the wall, Red (James Spader) drafts Tom (Ryan Eggold) in executing an elaborate plan to help re-establish his criminal reputation. Michael Aronov, Clark Middleton, Aida Turturro and Sarah Wynter guest star. Thanks alyblacklister@Tumblr
Also, the Brandons (Sonnier and Margolis) are writing episode 5.05, which one of them said will be "bigger than game 7 of every sports event combined" or something to that regard (I couldn't find the exact quote when I came to write this), so we are getting a big boom fairly early on. Speculation on what that could be? Does the suitcase information come out that early? Do we need 17 episodes to finish the fall out of that reveal?

Thanks Brittany, I'd forgotten about episode 5.05. Have to go back and review any set spoilers for that one (was the doctor perhaps part of ep 5?)

Brittany, I saw that and I thought they are going to give us a big bang and 20 more questions to go with it!!
There is a backstory posted that I just saw!! It is a little over 20 minutes long. It is great. It looks like we are going to get some answers about ballet girl since they included a glimpse of it.
They All really seam to be stressing that Red is her father.
lara1- I'm not sure if it said which episode the doctor would be in? I'll have to look.
Eastcoast-was that backstory thing hosted by Ryan Eggold? If so I just watched that yesterday, but my daughter was pestering me so I need to go back and rewatch it.
In more than one interview, Bokenkamp has talked about how the father/daughter connection isn't the reason (or at least the primary reason) Red entered Liz's life and that he has a larger agenda, so it's probably a combination of wanting people to feel like that particular mystery is solved after 4 years of beating us over the head with it, while assuring us that there is still plenty of mystery about Raymond Reddington and his motives and how they will affect Liz.

Dear TBL,
Please do not stretch the mystery suitcase past 5 episodes. I will go cray!
Love,

I saw links to it all over Twitter, but, sadly, I can't stream it here at work and will have to wait until I get home to see it.

excellent! really draws you in. A lot of fun and Spader is great (as usual!).
I am interested in seeing when Liz calls him Dad, it must be awkward, she is still calling him Reddington for now. LOL
And Red calls her "sweetheart". Now that's a term that's been used before, the only time that comes immediately to mind is back in Season 4 when someone called Samar sweetheart, in a condescending way. Need to think more on that.....in a general way I mean.
Hey, has any one noticed that Red goes around stealing things and generally misbehaving, yet the fingerprints he may leave don't lead back to him......or do they? ha
