Honey West #79 - interesting observations on the bones. I have not yet been able to view it in freeze frame mode on the TV. But on my computer screen, I saw not only pulleys but what looked like the end of an anchor sharing the same space in the suitcase. LOL, who knows what else I will see in that suitcase if I look hard enough and long enough....
#80 - intriguing ideas. Hard to say who was on the phone. But didn't Tom have a key to the locker? So he had to have that either from Kaplan or whoever was on the phone. I would think it possible that it was Red on the phone except I think they will pull that thread (finding/getting the suitcase) for a couple of episodes at least so I don't think Red gets back the case so easily. (Although its always possible that it is Red on the phone and that someone takes/steals it from Tom before he can get it to Red.). I don't think it was Liz on the phone though. Just a feeling more than anything else.
But you make a good point that whoever was on the phone with Tom probably had a vested interest in the outcome - i.e. either knew who the bones were and/or was committed to getting them to Liz for personal reasons. I don't think its someone that Kaplan just hired for the job. Just my opinion.

My first thought when Tom opened the suitcase was that he was talking with Liz. But as you say, it would be someone who cared very much. So Red is highly likely. I don't think Kirk, mainly because Bokenkamp has said he won't ever be back (it was pretty firm).
Considering the way Red and Tom have worked together and that they both love Liz, it makes the most sense that it was Red on the phone though.

Hi east coast, thanks for posting these.
Just so that you all know what I am talking about with the hammer/axe/anchor thing, the first photo is similar to what I zoomed in on my computer, then rotated the picture, first sideways, then upside down.
What appears right above, or touching what looks like the pulley/chain metal thing to me looks like it can be the metal head part of a hammer, with a handle extending from it, upwards on a diagonal (I wish I knew how to circle that!). At first I thought it could also be an axe but I think it is too small to be that. (However there are small axes.)
When I looked at the image I had when upside down, it also looked like it could be an anchor - not. a large one but a small one designed to grab and anchor a very small craft (i.e. small rowboat) into the mud.
It is probably none of that! But that is what I saw. Whatever it is is partially covered/obscured so we probably won't know until it is revealed on the show......of course.

lara1, I know what you are seeing. We use to have some John boats and our small anchors were just like what I am seeing in the picture.
(could be our wild imagination) :-)
anyway, I have a lot of pics blown up, blown out, all shades and colors so I could see things differently. I will check back later on if I do not get too distracted!

Interesting. I'm still not quite seeing these things, but it's quite possible that something is there besides bones. EC could you put letters or numbers on your circles? That would be great! And we would know which areas we are all talking about at the same time. I really can't wait for the blurays to come out! My DVR records in high def, and I have been seriously looking into one of those new 4K tvs. A big one! Maybe that would help?

east coast - great circles! I rotated your second one, and that item still looks to me like an anchor with a chain or heavy duty rope attached. Then again it also looks like it could be a pick axe.
I agree with HW, numbers would be great, we could then refer to them
Also in looking at your second photo with the circles, it looks to me like the chain thing/rope thing is draped across other areas of the bones. But that could just be my mind connecting dots where there aren't any.......

Thank you. I will work on that today.
lara1, that's what I see, looks like a small chain. I sharpened the pic as much as I could. When I did it too much it became a bit distorted.

eastcoast - that would be awesome! yes agree its difficult to enlarge these, if you go in too close it becomes less clear than It is without enlarging. LOL. Not easy!

You almost need to have production stills of the objects to really be able to blow them up and study them. But everyone does a great job with what we've got!
Has anyone else listened to The Blacklist Exposed podcast interview with Anthony Pepe, the makeup dept head for TBL? As a makeup artist I found it quite fascinating. And I was glad he pointed out the differences between special effects, special effects makeup and visual effects. The suitcase bones were made by the prop department, so he didn't have any ideas about them either. He gets the scripts a week ahead of time and knows nothing about the storylines beyond what we know. In fact, he said we, the fans, probably know more than he does. LOL! He had a few little stories and observations to share. Having joined the series in season two he didn't do Red's scars and said that basically he'd have to recreate them from scratch if they ever decided to show them again. So the new scars would probably look slightly different from the old ones and we shouldn't get too picky about that, he'll be working from photos. He also said that JS doesn't like fake blood. Just doesn't like it on him. I think he must have hated shooting "Leonard Caul". But of course, he's a pro and will do what is necessary. They had a funny discussion of Diego's hair. (to mess it up or not to mess it up) He also had some ideas about the Red/Katarina theory. He said that there was a medical book on the the shelf in Red's flat that was about gender reassignment surgery. I don't know if he was messing with us or not, but now we have to go back and look for it!

Honey West - Let me know if you find the the book on Red's shelf that's about gender reassignment surgery. I'm sure Troy was in a tizzy about that. I remember that someone at one time- maybe Tabasko - had a list of all the books whose titles were visible in the Leonard Caul episode. I sure don't remember that one. LOL

HoneyWest #90 - thanks for that summary! I had heard about the interview but haven't had a chance to listen to it. That's an interesting point about the back scars. I think the same is probably true about a number of little things over time (not that the back scars are a little thing!) - different set decorators, effects people, etc, replicate "original" effects from photos probably so if they are not exactly the same, it may not have any significance....
Interesting about the book. Tuxie400 - I went back briefly to the old site to see if it was perhaps saved in the reference section, but its not. When I have more time I might try to search the site a little bit. I wonder what the exact title is - and if its even in English, I suppose so as other books were. But - what does it mean? I have to admit, its a curious book to put on the shelf, just ad hoc. We know there are books on art and architecture, which has proved to tie in with some of the main themes/references in the show. Hmmmm.

Well, I have more pics of that suitcase than I care to admit! lol,
I might name my file 50 shades of bones!!
So what I did was I numbered them 2 ways that way whatever is easiest on your eyes you can use.
whole pic,
#s 1-4,
#s 1-2,
#s 3-4,
I know there is a number 5 in there but I had a hard time making room for it on the first pics to include it. I felt like I was covering the pic too much.

I keep forgetting this, did anyone else notice the books on Dom's desk in Mr. Kaplan? He had the same book on houses that Red had. The one we talked about so much. I think it was called Great American houses.

Eastcoast - Thanks so much for adding the numbers! Number 4 is what I originally thought was a pulley. I don't know what the other numbers are. Which area did you and lara think was the anchor? And 50 shades of bones - LOL
Offline
Tuxie, #2. It has the hooks on the ends just like the anchor I had for my John Boat.
I also think that is what 4 is.
#1 also looks to be the same thing but possibly the bottom of it?
I have a lot of pics of each item blown up. I just need some time in-between my RL to get it all done...

He also talked about Liz's scar and how it has moved a bit. That was more about placing it where it would stay in place better. If you put something like that over a joint like the wrist, it tends to pop off with movement. So it has moved a bit and changed shape since season one when we first saw it.
There was another site that had nice shots of Red's flat. I posted the link either here or on Thrushes a couple months back, I think. I'll try to find it.

Aargh! I haven't gone back to that scene yet! Good catch and I will give it a closer look.
Also Great Job on the numbered photos! Now I see what you all were talking about.

Honey West - I listened to most of Anthony Pepe on the podcast this afternoon. I do think it's interesting that they put burn scars on Katarina's back in Requiem but then didn't use any camera shots that showed them. That's another one for the Rederina column. I'm finding his interview very interesting and will finish it later tonight.
Eastcoast - Thanks for clarifying which items look like anchors to you. I wonder if the suitcase body was hidden in water for awhile. That could be what happened to the hands and feet. I read on a forensics website that a submerged body loses its hands and feet first, and then the head.
