lara1, I was thinking if that was probably shot a few months after Braxton and her hair would have grown just a bit?

I was just looking at those two photos of Mr. Kaplan and it looks like they are from two different scenes. The first one looks like Mr. Kaplan and child Liz are in a hotel room. Liz is sitting on the edge of a bed with a red and large flower patterned cover; the table behind Mr. Kaplan is round and looks like it's one of those heavy particle-board tables with a dark finish. So I think this could be the first place they go before Mr. Kaplan figures out what to do with Liz. One of the episodes purportedly has the Summer Palace in it again. Did anyone think that the first 'housekeeper' may have been Kate? Wasn't the young woman Katja? And she dresses like Kate?
Or maybe this hiatus has - just - been - mercilessly - way - t o o - l o o o o n n n n n g g g...............................

I too think Kaplan may have held "housekeeper/nanny" title before. Also, this is where she would have perfected her cleaning abilities. It all began with cherry-red kool-aid stained carpet. She glanced at the gloves and slowly slipped them on. Next, it was permanent marker on the wall. Finally, every mother's nightmare, GRASS STAINED baseball pants!!!!!!!!!!! Mr. Kaplan was ready.

Tatiana - I think you are right, not only are the two pictures two entirely different locations, but I wonder about the location of the first photo. The chair does not match that in the second photo and it doesn't match that in the house photos "behind the scenes" where the homeowner said she had met the actor who plays "Sam" - that we think may have been Sam's, or Red's house.

Liz could very well be sitting on a bed, or it could be a kind of side angle shot of the edge of a sofa. I think it may be a bed/bedspread but I only point out another possibility because I can't make out a nightstand/lamp along the wall next to the "bed" but its hard, because it may be blocked/out of focus.

Also - I believe the Summer Palace scenes also appear in ep 17, but that could be wrong info. They definitely filmed there though a while ago and Lotte is in ep 17 also so the timeline for it to be in ep 17 is not out of the question. Well if not 17, soon thereafter.

Eastcoast - that could be the case. although i thought I saw scenes elsewhere where the hair is longer (like the girl in the fire memory who seems to be outside the house looking back). And I wonder if that "longer" hair was a wig - seems so heavy in a way.

OK I am so excited - does anyone else think that photos with Kaplan/baby Liz and Katerina/Kaplan are at the Summer Palace? And I wonder the other photo of Kate wearing the outfit she wears in the "cleanup" photo - is that the summer palace as well? could be a different house. but parts of it look similar. Oh I can't wait!!!!

Sorry to be such a "second daughter/child" conspiracist but the baby that Katarina is holding seems to be much fairer than 4 year old Liz. Much lighter hair (more similar to bubble girl (LOL). Of course hair and eye color can change a bit as a child grows older. But its interesting to me that they chose a baby that did not have dark brown hair.

Then again i am probably completely wrong! At least we will get some answers in a few days! LOL

Looks like Mr. K was working for little Nikos in those last few photos ... I wondered where that relationship would tie in. No photos of Annie, though.

Yes, Kate does appear to be working for Little Nikos, the signs say things like "no collectors", etc. Did n't he do bail bonds? So they are having William Sadler play a younger version of Sam, but not too young. I wonder what the time frame is for that scene? And if it ties into the time before Red's surrender? But they would have had Susan B playing Kate, if that was the case, I would think. So it's earlier.

The two Katarina bits seem to be a couple of years apart? Liz has grown a bit by the second ones. Looks like the Summer Palace. So I am really thinking the Summer Palace was where the fire happened.

You'd think cute pic of little Lizzie and her bunny if you didn't know what horrific things had just happened before that. And I am also leaning heavily towards Kate being the "old friend" who showed up with Liz at his place.

Honey West - I was thinking the summer palace is where the fire happened, but when I looked at it closely, it seems original 19th or even 18th century intact house.

Although Kirk with all of his money could have paid to have an authentic restoration to make it look old again. Remember that Liz had those blueprints of a house? I couldn't confirm it was the summer palace, but it was blueprints of one of Kirk's homes and it was in essence an architectural drawing where the architect had noted in multiple places "original construction", "existing" stairwell, windows etc . in addition to what was being added. I could not see a date on the plans. But its curious out of all of the paperwork that Liz was reviewing, that was one of the few things shown to us in close up and in detail.

HW -I thought that the baby held by Kaplan looks slightly different than the baby held by katarina. But I put it down to angle and lighting. could possible be age as well.

Last thought for the evening - I wonder if any of those things on the bookshelves behind Katarina are now in the flat? Though Kirk might still have them all if that's the summer palace.

Oh I definitely think it was Kate, the dear friend, who brought Liz to Sam Milhoan that night.
And it's very possible the Summer Palace was Fire Night. In fact, I think it's probable.

Well, remember, Annie will appear in this episode somehow, so it was right after Annie "was lying there in front of me" that Little Nikos saved Kate and gave her a job. So those pictures of Kate at the office (bail bonds) did it happen before or after? It doesn't make sense that Kate would be working for Little Nikos until after fire night happens because she was nanny to Elizabeth (presumably).
