James Spader is scheduled for Today's Take on Tuesday. 10AM-11AM.
He pops up regular as clockwork right before the show returns from its various hiati. I wonder if he will have any renewal news? Probably not. I really think we won't get that until the finale when, I hope, at the very end they announce "The Blacklist returns on Sept. 21st with all new episodes." Of course that all depends on if the writer go on strike or not.

Honey West - thanks for this. I might try to go along to the studio on Tuesday as I am free that morning. Although no one is allowed inside. Its the luck of the draw if you happen to catch one of the guests arriving or departing.
what do you think will happen at the upfronts then? those happen before the season finale airs.I think the NBC upfronts happen on May 15. I was hoping we would know by then. I suppose though that whole season (the network upfronts) will be thrown into a bit of chaos also if there is a strike.

Spader has a way of being very insightful without giving away anything at all... !

True, the upfronts sort of get in the way of what would be a pretty cool reveal.
If you happen to get a selfie with James you must post it!

You know, James is the first to admit that he's not a morning person .
I think this interview proves that.
Most importantly though, I think we have clear evidence that it's being renewed for next season!!!!
He said, "you can't just keep stringing people along" in reference to revealing some of the history, such as in this weeks 2 hour episodes.
"You have to keep their interest..."

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that brief summary.
I'm on a very slow connection and can't view clips right now.

I enjoyed the Today segment. From what James said, it sounds like Requiem is going to be like Cape May with its introspection. TBL really needs to work in a cameo of Al Roker! LOL

I got some extensive tweets from Annie Heise = one shows a split-screen of Annie and Samar eye-balling each other. Wonderful if those two started tormenting each other - better if they worked together!
Annie is the best on TBL in terms of promoting the show - and she's not even part of the main cast. I told her if she wasn't extended into 'regular recurring' she should apply to be Hollywood's #1 press agent. Who could resist a press agent that looks like Annie Heise???

Wow BBB! You must be some kinda wonderful to get personalized tweets!!! She's a really good actress. I look forward to seeing her in the upcoming episodes. She really does make the screen come alive!
Something Bokenkamp said was that Samar is kind of in like with Aram, but has an unhealthy way of showing it. I bet we see a cat fight between Samar and Elise/Janet! That'll be fun! They both have a lot of screen presence.

Actually Annie might have the most screen presence of any of TBL cast - other than Spader. She really energizes the screen and make things come alive. So animated, yet so real. The producers would have to be super-dumb not to realize the sandpaper effect between Samar & Janet/Elise - especially with Aram as the filling in the sandwich!
Probably too late in the game for Annie to make it to main cast - but who knows. Rumours abound that Diego is disgruntled - and the co-lead, the very inexperienced Megan Boone might have to be sacrificed if the show is extended for the next couple years.

BBB - I have not heard these rumors. I suspected that Diego may want to leave since he's engaged in a lot of other jobs. Plus, on screen, he's starting to think more of his family and how his job takes him away from them. It would be a good segue if he wanted to leave the show. Plus, they are introducing some other FBI agents who could possibly 'replace' him.
We discourage negative talk on this board so I won't go there, but it's fair to say Megan is overshadowed by James' superb and extraordinary talents. You and I talked a little bit about what it would be like to have 'Nez', Tawny Cypress on TBL. I started imagining her with the role of Liz and it makes that role much more believable. Tawny has the angry woman down pat LOL and she has a softer, more vulnerable side, like her relationship with Howard, her addiction, and Tom as her 'brother'. Her character is more in keeping with the original intent of the writers/producers.
They had originally wanted Liz to be more angry and violent in the opening scripts and early first season but it didn't come across on screen the way they wanted, so they toned her down.
But from a pragmatic perspective, the producers or if Megan decided they didn't want to move forward, how would they manage that? Liz is integral to the whole storyline.
In Soap Operas, it's not uncommon to have a completely different actress replace the one who is leaving. Do you think TBL would do that? Or would they just write her off the show? I don't see how they could do that effectively.
Ok, so my imaginative mind is thinking overtime on this: Liz (Megan) somehow by the end of this season has some kind of accident which disfigures her face. Then next season she's recovering and then heals and her face is different. Lots of plastic surgery. And we already have a really good surgeon who could do a fantastic job.
Whaddya think???!

Tatiana - I think it would be v difficult to bring in a new "Liz" at this juncture. Unless there was a really wild plot device whereby it turns out she was never the real Liz for whatever reason. But they'd almost have to re-write large parts of the show or where it is heading in order to do that.
I agree that tawny cypress is awesome and if they could somehow write her into TBL it would be great.
