NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Here's the official spoiler for next week's double episode, Dembe Zuma and Requiem.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Thanks Tatiana!  They are making out in the promo that Dembe has turned on Red, but I think the opposite.

I now think that Dembe realized that the Scotch was poisoned by someone else and starts to put info together.  Kaplan could have done it as she had access to the flat.  Darn! if only they still had that clock spy camera in the flat!  LOL

I'm not sure why Dembe seems to be going it alone though (apart from kidnapping Aram!).  Maybe he feels that it is his responsibility to handle.  Or he feels he needs to be away from Red while he is proving his innocence, allow Red to figure it out also, maybe "cool down".  I don't know.  just some ideas....

Red doesn't seem to be angry with Dembe from what I can see.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Thanks for the promo!
I think Dembe could be afraid that Red might kill him like he did Kate and everyone else who betrayed him.
Probably take ARAM to see if he can access street cameras, and to see if he can trace who contacted the creepy Apothecary through the dark web...
If it is Kate who did that poor Dembe will be very hurt to know she set him up to take the fall.
It is really difficult for me to think Kate set up Dembe unless she thought he should have said something.

Plus there is poor Marvin and all those innocent people. Just does not seam like her.  So I wonder if the promo is misleading us?
Unless she just poisoned him not knowing all those other things were falling in place.
Or someone else did it and she is calling about something else entirely!

just some ramblings of my tired brain....

It's a shame you have no crackers

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

OK, did anyone notice something strange about Kaplan in the promo?  Am I wrong, or:

1. her wedding ring looks different, either  different ring, or she is wearing two, a thicker band and a second, thinner one, underneath it.  Or could just be the light on it.

2.  What is she holding next to her head?  is it a gun?  A small phone and gun?  Or a very old mobile phone - like from the 1990s when they were very large handsets.

3.  Doesn't she look younger?  mainly in the hair style, color and thickness.  Maybe not.

4.  I can't see clearly but the style of clothing looks a bit retro, and does she have a sparkly necklace around her neck (very un-Kaplan); also note the retro watch, like something from the 1950s - it could be a family heirloom.

I am wondering, is this a flashback?  Maybe not to 25 years ago but something in-between then and now?

I don't know something seemed off about how she looked.  Might just be my imagination though!  LOL

Maybe the lighting.  Need to connect it to my TV screen so I can see larger version!

Her hair was different. Fluffier and longer. I'll have to watch it again tomorrow to check wardrobe. But she has a bandaid on her nose. When Red, Liz and Baz went into that warehouse-like building, Red looked shocked or surprised by something he was seeing. I thought from the photos that was where Dr. Gallup was lurking. Then he looked like he was falling forward in another quick cut and his gun hand kind of going up in front of him. Kate seems to be walking along a dark sidewalk as the announcer says "a voice from the grave". But I can't see how she's dressed, even though I had the impression she was talking on the phone. I guess they were showing us bits from both hours, so it's really hard to know what exactly they wanted to not show us. LOL! Except to imply that everyone Red trusted is turning against him. I like to think it's more like an intervention.

My thoughts exactly, it's like an intervention. Certainly with the way Red plans and executes (pun intended!) everything, he certainly could have a contingency plan for when someone actually takes him down. I don't think this is the case, but hey, I love my Reddie boy!

Definitely noticed Mr. Kaplan's ring(s), plus the old style phone, and her hair is darker and fuller, so yes, I think that's flashback mode.

Dembe's line implies that he did not poison Red. And I think this is true. I think as you all have said, he did not want what happened to Mr. Kaplan to happen to him. So he did the right thing that night by calling #77 and getting Red to medical care.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

So maybe she was married to Sam? I wonder.

Anyway, when she calls Red I was trying to decide if we were seeing both sides of the same conversation or not. We may be seeing
Kate in flashback, and I am thinking that was back to just before Red's surrender and in the same timeframe as Newton Philips, but we are hearing what she is saying to him now. I was trying to figure if he was in his surrender suit or not. Will have to check the photos later on the big screen.

And I still wonder if Kate also got that *77 call. If she didn't then Hunter did, if that's her phone that we see in the global promo #1.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

HW - Yes! Red and Grey (omg, I never realized they were both colors, ha!) are wearing the exact same suits as they were in the Pilot. JB did say we were going back to when Red turned himself in to the FBI. That will be great, I've often wondered what exactly was the trigger.

It makes me wonder if it was Red who fast-tracked Liz's career or was it someone (something) else?

I am of the opinion that when Kate calls Red, "Hello Raymond" it is from this time frame, the time when Red turned himself in. I think this because it is Susan Bloemmert who portrays Kate and she is using a mobile phone. It could be a few years earlier, but not much. So anywhere from 2013 to 2008-9? But not much earlier.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Yes, Tatiana, maybe she is objecting to his turning himself in. Remember he did say he had discussed it with Marvin Gerard ahead of time. Or maybe Marvin said that. So I am thinking that before he surrendered he had a staff meeting of sorts with his closest people to discuss what could happen and put some contingency plans into place. Maybe Kate was reminding him of what she knew about "things". After all, they really had no way to know for sure if the FBI would go for his offer - unless of course someone higher up,than Cooper really did know and approved it, which wouldn't surprise me.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Hi, I listened to the "phone call" without looking at the screen, and it sounds like there are two different conversations.  The first one, she says "Hello Raymond."  The second when she says, "II know where the bodies are buried,", her voice sounds different, more distant, a bit scratchy, like its from another phone and another conversation., different connection

I think its unclear "which conversation" represents Kate in the picture.  But its odd to me, if that is an old cellphone, that would be late eighties/ early nineties technology, I think.  I distinctly remember buying a cellphone in 1999 and it was nearly as small as the one I have today.

Unless it is a more recent photo, but Red and his team clung on to "older" technology longer than others did....I think its hard to place the date of that photo because Kate would not look like that if it were eighties, if that is definitely Susan....that would have been portrayed by the "young Kaplan" actress.

Tatiana, I also don't think it was right before Red surrendered, as that was only four years ago, and we saw Kate not too far into season 1 and I don't think she looked like that (looked more like "current" kate)

I don't know, I could be wrong.  just some impressions.  I haven't been able to watch the promo on a larger screen to get a better look.

But I do think the audio - is two different calls.

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Interesting idea about an intervention.  Kate making the ultimate sacrifice (herself) for the good of Red.

I still like to think that the scene with Red and LouLou in the Apothecary foreshadowed a reconciliation and help from Kate - because LouLou does all that she can to help Red and he remarks on that and how good that is of her considering what he (Red) did to her - essentially locking her in the trunk of the car and leaving her there, perhaps never to be found, at least not in time.  Parallel to how he left Kate.

Well, one can hope!

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

Well I finally got to watch this on my TV screen and it did not help me much!  LOL

Honey West - the scene showing Kate walking at night, she is on what appears to be an elevated metal walkway above street level somewhere.  hard to tell but it does look like she may be holding a phone.
Maybe that is the second phone conversation?  In the larger picture of her, she says "hello Raymond" but we don't actually see her saying, "I know where the bodies are buried".  Which, again, I think is a different phone conversation.

My general idea as of now is that Kate calls him but he doesn't know where she is - leading him to retrace his steps and that scene shown on the Global promo where Red is interrogating mountain man - whether or not Red knew him/of him previously.  Or it could be the other way around, LOL, he calls the number and she answers.  but what about that old phone?  LOL

Well maybe we will get another promo to pick apart!  LOL

Re: NBC Spoiler 4.16 & 4.17

If Redemption has to die to keep Original Blacklist afloat, so be it.
Just hoping several of the Redemption cast can hitch a ride on the original program.

I think most viewers, even in declining viewership view LIz character as somewhat redundant and unnecessary whereby Tom Keen is seen as  white man's James Bond, Matty Solomon as a black man's bond. Great chemistry whether they're working together or opposed.

I think Tom could slither in as an added player for either Team Reddington or Team Post Office - he's super versatile.

Solomon could pop up as a recurring character while he's doing his stint on Broadway's biggest projects or other TV shows that require a super-literate villain.

If Liz is minimized that might open the door for Nez to hop aboard - perhaps as Samar's partner - if Diego K. is indeed leaving the project.

Don't think there's more than recurring roles for Scotty or Howard to return - except to reprise there roles s Blacklist features a couple more stand alone Redemption episodes to close out Howard, Whitehall, Scotty & Tom's storyline.
