This is big. I'm afraid if this is true, then we are coming very near the end .

Thanks Tatiana. Not quite sure what to make of it. they have been promising since the start of the season that a major bombshell would fall toward the end of the season. I guess it depends on what this "truth is". I think that, if it truly is that Red is Liz's father, that is one thing. If its murkier and we get all the details, that is another. i wonder if Liz's memory or part of it is somehow restored and there is some sort of confrontation. That could end in a season cliff hanger. Its awful, isn't it, not knowing!

I read that article earlier today. Bring on the bombshells! It may be the end, or it may take the show in a whole different direction for next season.

Yes - and I notice that Jon talks about the engine going forward.
The secrecy and dribbling out of selected info is probably driving the fan base crazy! It is for me, LOL.

Yeah, I read that. I finally joined twitter a few weeks ago, so I get those updates right away now. Well, it does sound like we will be getting some core questions answered, and that does not bode well for it being the end of the series. However, it could also be a big turn in the story which it really does need. Stop focusing so much on the past and move on to the future, the wars to come, etc. the Blacklister s who made a big difference in that part of the story, the bombers, scientists, Russians, etc. the Cabal who thinks what they do makes our world safe for us to live our lives in peace (remember when they said that?)
And it could be a way to bank the story for future in case of that pesky writers strike.

Honey West - Aly has some interesting things to say about that as well.
Here's another update:
NBC Blacklist website now has slides with captions called
THE SAGA OF RED AND LIZ

Thanks Tatiana.
You know, i wrote the other day about whether they are introducing a 180, or even 360, turn in the story. Sort of like righting the ship, to bring back viewers.Maybe they are going to introduce stuff we haven't even thought of (though how likely is that with this group, LOL! ). Or maybe they have been listening to a lot of very vocal fans who want more backstory, more Red and Liz, and some answers at least. Get away from the baby story.
Don't get me wrong, Agnes is beautiful and the baby actresses wonderful, but for me, I do think the Tom/Liz storyline has kind of deflated the story. Kind of sidetracks the story and lessens the tension and ntensity around it. Just my opinion of course but I think the story would be more tightly produced and suspenseful (as in edge of the seat stuff) without those scenes which I think water it all down. Just IMO of course - what do I know? I'm no writer! And that storyline may have its purpose in the mythology, that we don't know yet!
having said that, I am still obsessed with the show regardless, LOL
Anyway back to the here and now, I think we'll get some major clues next week (YAY)
Also - that article seems to prolong the idea that Dembe poisoned Red. I'm still not sold on that. Unless he did, then regretted it and drove Red to the ER as a result.
I saw an interesting theory on the Blacklist exposed Facebook site - I now can't find it - there have been a lot of postings the past few days - anyway the idea that the poster had was that maybe the memory doctor has been called in to help Red revive his memory after the poison. Not sure how feasible that is, but its an interesting idea. And maybe (my thought now) that has unanticipated consequences, maybe involving Liz.
but who knows really. LOL

The Ballad of Liz and Red - sounds like a Pete Seeger song; or perhaps Woody Guthrie!

Or Georgie Fame's "The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde". (oops, my era is showing!)

I would love to see them go back to the day he surrendered and reset from there! Love that idea! Hopefully they go back to S1 writing.

Agree, Patter. While "grandpa Red" is endearing, I have to admit I liked "somewhat-scary, who-the-heck-is-this-guy, and-what-does-he-want Red" better.

Yes, I'd love to see a reboot. No disrespect to Megan Boone meant at all! But the series started going seriously off-track when they wrote in her pregnancy. In hindsight, they may have been better off not doing that and letting her wait in jail or hidden in an apartment somewhere.
I think I wrote on the last board that some of the disruption we saw in several episodes may have been an attempt to get back to an "original" story arc.
In any case, if they want to increase their viewer numbers, they need to get back to the original idea and either tie up some loose ends or write a tighter arc that isn't as frustrating to viewers.
I'll also acknowledge that it's probably a very difficult series to write because it is complex, and guest writers who aren't regular viewers have an even tougher time. That's why we've gotten some lame episodes like Kings of the Highway (or whatever that one was that had Red chained up in the trailer -- UGH!) And I wouldn't even try to write for it (TV, anyway. Contests are another matter) because I'm still reading spy novels and watching spy movies because my own plotting skills are far too weak in that genre.
I'd like to see some elements of Redemption and some elements of the BL combined: less focus on the FBI task force -- moving forward, the show makes a bit more sense with the "task force" in a private company, working with the CIA and FBI on occasion. Tom makes a better bad ass spy/operative than a daddy. Red need to focus on being Red!

Tatiana, Honey West and Iowa Watcher - agree with all of you. Maybe that is why they are re-introducing Grey, to take us back. I also wonder whether part of what they have planned is a kind of quick recap - maybe for viewers who have not followed the show closely from the pilot. I don't know, shows sometimes do that in order to "set" things up again for moving forward.
Iowa Watcher - I absolutely agree that some of the disruption and bumps in the road in some of the episodes this season may have been an attempt to try to steer a course back to what had been. One of the reasons why I got into even some of the weaker episodes, I thought they were going somewhere with it but it would just take a bit of time.
And yes I would agree that its probably very hard to write, so many things to pull in. Overall I think they do a great job. I just think the series got a bit sidetracked with the baby and Kirk arc - if they had condensed it into fewer episodes, it might have worked better. Then again, we did get some interesting mythology bits out of it.

I don't think it's possible to get back to the Season 1 dynamic. We know too much about both Red and Liz now. Part of the Season 1 mystique was that everything was new. Liz and Red were finding their way with each other. Red has been humanized to such a degree now that we can't find him truly menacing anymore. And don't forget, Liz was angry and frustrated with Red a lot during Season 1 too. Season 1 and Season 3B were my favorite parts of the show. I think there will have to be a very big turn at the end of the season that shakes everything up in a whole new way.

Tuxie400. Good points. A large part of the mystique was that Red, Liz and Tom were all unknown quantities. And there was a huge question mark over whether Red was truly manipulating Liz
I think there is an outside chance that he still is, but as much as I loved Cape May, that for me kind of largely destroyed that possibility. It opened up new ones, of course!
