Well - yes. That's one reason why it has become so good!

That guy who plays Whitehall looked familiar. Was that the dad from This Is Us
Yes he is familiar, but I can't place him.
His calculations reminded me of those of the guy that Red and Liz went to visit in the hospital back in Season 1 or 2 of TBL

Wow! A half granny square episode!
(5 more granny squares to go!)

IowaWatcher - yes I thought it was very good!
So much was happening though I didn't find out what the Easter egg was. i will have to re-watch carefully!
Anyone else pick up on any clues yet?

Whitehall and Scottie didn't make much sense to me, but the episode was still edge-of-the-seat good. To me Howard didn't seem crazy at all, and Scottie seemed totally untrustworthy. My favorite part was the father-and-son bonding over making their own satellite dish. I thought Howard's back story about Warsaw, Poland was intriguing. Maybe he's adopted. I enjoyed how Tom and Howard each brought a different skill set to their Whitehall project.

lara1 - I think you already pointed out the Easter Egg: Tom's scene in the chair being tortured. The Easter Egg's are reminders of scenes from TB - not new info.

I've got to re-watch because of the missing first six minutes, and I'll see what new things I pick up since I'm really tired tonight.
Do anyone know for a fact that it didn't get renewed? I didn't think all of the NBC results were out, yet.

lara1, #34, I really did lol !

IowaWatcher - to my knowledge nothing has been said officially about Redemption renewal, but the low ratings have most commentators giving its renewal chances low. Still, if the ratings go through the roof tonight and next week, maybe it will have a chance.

I thought that was a great episode!
I really cannot in my heart fathom how she could be his mother! I am not the type to even let someone even say they would hurt one of my kids. Let alone let someone beat them with a sock full of pool balls. I wanted to reach through the screen and grab that sock and swing it at her!
She seamed more worried about Kevin being beat on that her son?

Missed the first part and will watch it tomorrow. I was really irked to put it mildly when that interruption came on!

Eastcoast - the way I am thinking, the only way she can be his mother is if she is a very bad mother, maybe she did not want him and it would not surprise me if she were actually behind his kidnapping.
then again she put on such an "act" with the adoptive parents - then again they were fake adoptive parents!
Maybe she too suffers from fractured identity!!! The identity that is genuinely his mother, the other that is not. LOL

I wonder if she was behind it for sure so that she could gain the company. The woman said the letter came from NY and they were in NY at the time he disappeared.

Artax Network. Who'da thought that Howard Hargrave built it. I like how they tie some of these things together. And Whitehall being a person, not a thing or an organization. But why would Whitehall be behind weaponizing Natalie Luca's virus? He's a computer dude. Maybe there is a Whitehall organization as well as this Whitehall person?

On a negative note (there are few negatives on this series)
I thought Liz & Harold served no real purpose - other than as useful props
Tom calling Aram for some tech support would have been much better immo - if Howard encountered an impossible problem - then have Aram play a hide-n-seek game with Dumont.
Worst scene of the entire series was when Scottie finally confronts Kat about her dalliance with Boy Toy. Scottie could have been more menacing to Kat in the confrontation - basically it had all the drama of Kim Kardashian confronting Kendall Jenner about her Pepsi ad. The only humour was Kat unknowingly revealing the Toy Boy's real name - and a slight palpitation from Scottie. But in the end Katherine Heigl could have done better.
Perhaps we're spoiled?

I loved how they've expanded Nez's character and history.
Her re-uniting with Howard was super well done - for 2 characters having to re-establish a bond they never really had (on film)
As expected Nez is now on Team Tom - Solomon looks a bit puzzled at all the hell-fire and damnation!!!
If Redemption is put to bed - I certainly hope they can somehow find a role for Nez on Cooper's team - perhaps replacing the disgruntled Diego Klattenhoff. Samar & Nez would be absolute ninja-monsters!
Don't know if they can find an immediate role for Solomon - perhaps Mr. Kaplan brings him on board to fortify her team.
Don't see roles for Howard and/or Scottie - perhaps the season finale of Redemption will leave them on a cliff-hanger - so if the series is picked up for S2 they can be resurrected - or eliminated if the Blacklist: The Spinoff is cancelled

NBC has not renewed or cancelled Redemption or The Blacklist as of yet. There are many pundits out there who make calculated guesses as to the likelihood of cancellation or renewal though. Who knows, maybe they can fit Redemption in as a mini-series?

So much of this episode just seemed confounding. I don't understand why Scottie didn't seem to know what Whitehall was in previous episodes, but now she's ready to sacrifice her supposed son for it. She was obviously very much clued in. And Hargrave is not a Polish name, so what's with Howard being a child in Warsaw, Poland?
As for whether Redemption is renewed, I don't care one way or the other. I can only take one confusing show at a time, and the mothership is it for me.

Tuxie400 - I also think it was a bit confusing. I think part of it was trying to produce doubt for both Scottie and Howard re Whitehall. Scottie was telling people Howard was behind it and vice-versa. You know, I'm not entirely convinced Scottie is the "bad guy" as far as Whitehall is concerned. Howard seems emotionally disconnected from Tom and I wonder whether there will be a twist where he is actually the "bad guy". Scottie may be holding Whitehall against his will to keep him away from Howard. We'll find out next week I guess.
I think Hargrave is an alias, like Kirk is. Their real names something else in another time and place.
