Tuxie400 - I am hopeful! Since TBL seems to be back on a roll and in its stride, it would be great to know we have a Season 5.

Some good ratings news for a change!

I did see what might be a hopeful clue from a tweet by Megan Boone today. She posted a photo of herself and Mozhan near the water where they were "filming the end of season FOUR". I really hope that means that it's the end of season four and not the end of the series. Would she have been able to divulge that info? I think not. Especially not directly. Because if anyone was to say this was the final season then all of us fans would really go to town figuring out how it would end. So really, even if this was the end, they can't say it. It would be the ultimate spoiler! So just maybe the way she worded it with the CAPS could be a clue that there may be a season FIVE? At least we can hope so!
Offline
So another thought about why we haven't heard whether there will be a season five or not is that maybe the answer itself would constitute a spoiler for the rest of four. Or at least until we get beyond a certain range of stories, where the knowledge would tip us off as to the outcomes. Of course I am thinking the Dembe and Kaplan stories here. I am pretty sure all involved in the show and at the network have known for some time. It's gotten to a point where they can't even release episode titles because of spoiler concerns. So they keep everything under wraps.

There is no doubt they have everything under tight wraps! That's part of the mystery. That also has me concerned that this is the last season. (I know, don't listen to me!!!) lol!
I wonder too, since we have very little information, is it possible they are doing the last episodes first? and that is why everything is top secret? If my suspicions are true, then it would make sense they would not release anything about the very last episodes. They have plenty of time (I think?) to wrap up production. Episode 4.16 says it airs on 4/20. Episode 4.17 does not say when it airs, this is the one with Young Kaplan, Young Kirk, etc.

Clowns and bombs together? LOL!

LOL! Scary, huh???
So my computer decided to reboot mid comment. Argh!!!
Today NBCBlacklist tweeted:
'Our business is finished here'
Couple that with Red's "Death all around me" soliloquy; the attempt on his life, the devastation of his business; the new cleaner's saying if you don't watch it you're (Red's) going to be next.
Now if that isn't the end I don't know. Especially because TPBL haven't been tweeting about TBL in some time. But here's some tweets from Blacklist starting with most recent that sound rather ominous:
Always watching.
You better be listening.
He will solve his own attempted murder if it's the last thing he does.
There is no luxury of time.
You can't judge a book by it's cover. But you can by it's first few chapters, and certainly by its last.
He warned you.
Natalie do mind if I sit here for a moment? For the life of me, I don't think I could get up right now.
And on 2/2 a big tweet:
YOUR FUNERAL

Tatiana - based on behind the scenes photos, the spotting of actors on set and tweets from the various actors in the episodes, I don't think they are doing the last episodes first. To me, those things fit into the timeline of how they have been filming. Also I'm pretty sure I heard from somewhere - the writers, the podcast, someone affiliated with the show, that we have 16 and 17 one after the other. I could be wrong, of course!
Re the tweets I"m not sure what to make of them. Most of the ones in the bottom part of your post were done around 2/23 when the poisoning episode aired and so make sense in that context. And Red survived the poisoning. There's still the possibility that different people attacked Red's business vs did the poisoning; we don't think Dembe poisoned him (at least not on purpose) and perhaps Dembe and Red cooked up the scheme together and Red cannot remember having done so.
I don't really follow the tweets of the individuals involved in the show, but Eisendrath was tweeting about TBL back in Feb. Its true JB hasn't since the fall finale. No idea why.
I think the cleaners foreshadowed the poisoning of Red and set up the whole, Did Dembe do it? plot line. Of course we still don't know whether he did!
I think 4.16 is being kept under wraps because its huge in terms of figuring out if Dembe really poisoned Red or not and either the title is a huge piece of information or they just haven't decided yet what the title is. They did change the name of the Thrushes title from Rene le Bron. Honestly the IMDB thing doesn't bother me too much, we are still nearly a month away from the episode airing. IMDB doesn't even have details for the last two episodes of Redemption yet and they air sooner.
Anyway all of this can point to something or to nothing. I know these are nail biting times! As we wait for an announcement either way!

As per usual network drama lots of stuff (unbeknown to us) swirling around back-stage and in the money office. Something as simple as James Spader deciding he's bored of the project and wants to do "other things" could unravel the show.
Obviously the thing one looks at first are day-of ratings - and now 3 day PVR ratings (those recording the show and watching it later). TBL didn't blow away the universe but its numbers were solid and non-deteriorative. A good money earner that stars a big name in the biz - plus 5 or 6 more economy casts (so the payroll for the show isn't massive like for instance, BIG BANG THEORY).
The spinoff is so different than the original it might be a totally independent decision as to whether to continue into a more traditional season two (ie. 15 to 18 episodes vs. current order of 8 for year 1)
Incidental collection - to borrow a Trumpism - are that Ryan Eggold is quickly establishing himself as a legit male lead plus Edi Gathegi continues to build an impeccable resume as TV's quirkiest villain/hero/fast talker. Famke Janssen appears to be making herself available for more TV roles as available film roles start to dry up (being 51 will do that in Hollywood no matter how stunning Janssen looks)
Don't know if I could say any two of TBL actors could star in their own vehicle (assuming neither is named Spader). Lots of great character actors on that show but other than Spader could anyone carry a leading role? I think either Ms. Boone or Mozhan Marno could very easily be a 2nd banana on a well-written crime, medical or offbeat drama. Mozhan would be great at certain comedy too. Don't know about Megan. The lady who plays Mr. Kaplan also deserves much more screen time or a quirky role on an established network drama. I think Susan Bloomaert would be good as a replacement for Miguel Ferrer on NCIS: LA, a perennial ratings monster - Susan is also one of the few women that could actually replace the great Linda Hunt, if Linda doesn't move on.

All valid points, Lara. (btw, edited the pic pic in last post as it says, "YOUR FUNERAL"
Big Bad Bazzer - spot on. James actually is very affordable and may in fact make the same as other performers in Blacklist (or even less??) so it probably is an affordable show. And yes, I love Susan Blomaert and Edi Gathegi. They are marvelous actors. Mozhan Marno and Ryan Eggold will do just fine. Megan Boone, I think she is independently wealthy so she may not feel so compelled to keep up such a rigorous schedule with acting. She is a beautiful woman though.
We shall see how the series goes this season. If it weren't for the fact that there are so many pieces of the puzzle as yet unanswered, I wouldn't feel so anxious. So I"m sharing here so I don't drive my family absolutely mad! LOL!

I too think it could go either way. At the point where they are now, they could easily wrap if they had to; or not. Maybe when they were filming these episodes it still hadn't been decided. But I suspect that by 4.20, which is where they are now, they certainly know one way or the other.
But I am sticking by my idea that they can't announce either way because the announcement itself would be a spoiler for the rest of season four. At least until we get past a certain point anyway.

You're right, of course. I must be going through withdrawal. I'm so anxious!
Maybe you'll understand this Honey West, but for some reason I need to know if the overall 'puzzle' is solvable without the grande finale. I know once we have the final reveal, we'll be able to go back and see all the clues, and probably see Red and Liz and everyone else for who they truly are. But my question is, can someone reasonably clever and observant (obssessive/compulsive would help a great bit) be able figure out the 'truth'? The answer to the overall puzzle? I don't presume someone would be able to figure out all the details, but could someone get it even from a big picture?
Because if there's a chance, then I want to work like heck to figure it out, but if not, I'll just sit back and enjoy the popcorn.

Tatiana, well that is why we are all here! To share and support!
Sometimes I am anxious, sometimes not, depends on the day of the week! LOL.

Heehee! I totally agree and understand where you are coming from! And as lara1 says, it's why we are here!
I'd like to think it is solvable without the "grande finale" but I wonder if they intend for that to be possible. And who knows, maybe it has actually been solved by some of the theorists, but we can't know until the grande finale. I like to think that most of us have at least part of it right. Which part? That's the question we might not find the answer to until the end.
That said, I have two ideas of how the story ends, one is rather bleak, but the other is my "Pollyanna" ending where everyone lives happily ever after. LOL!

Well in anxious times like this, I sit back on Sunday mornings with a cup of coffee and enjoy - the old Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies that air each week on my cable network.
Today is "Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror" - its a good one, and an old one too (1942). And Sherlock wears a fedora! (everything seems to me to be through a BL lens, LOL).
Back to TBL, I tend to think we'd be able to go back and figure out the clues no matter the ending. But I don't think, without a lot of time to explore an ending, we'd get answers to every single question.
I tend to agree with Honey West, that some of the theorists may have already solved it or maybe it is pieces from several theories. The clues are certainly there, they point to any number of the theories being true or part true. But we won't know until the ending. My main thought is that once we know the connection between Red and Liz, and Katarina, much of what else is out there will fall into place. Kind of like a domino effect, as looking back over all the clues things will then fit into place.
That's why they can't reveal much, IMO. Because its all so intrinsically tied together that picking apart one main item will result in the entire sweater unravelling.....just my opinion obviously.
Back to Sherlock Holmes now!

Thanks for seeing the bigger picture
It's rainy, cool, and overcast today (again) so b&w Basil Rathbone sounds absolutely delightful!!!! Enjoy :-)

Of course you know it is possible that the relationships could be revealed but that's still not the end of the story, just the end of the story of that relationship. It would free them up, so to speak, to concentrate on "okay now we know that part and they know", so what do they do with that as far as the greater picture? The coming war that Red has mentioned a few times? Because I don't think that has been anywhere near explained or even touched on lately, except that the attacks on Red and his organization are part of that bigger war? Then again, the "coming war" could be the McGuffin.

OK here is some good news.
Grim Reaper's newest stats, just out today put renewal prediction of TBL up to 75% (up fro 60 where it had been for some while).
I think its Grim Reaper we've been looking at....

Of course, until it's official, these emojis will have to suffice for now.
Glad to see Shades of Blue renewed and my guilty pleasure "Lucifer".
