OK, now everything is clear!
Red's a doppleganger!!! lol
Yes, exactly! LOL
And it would neatly explain why those from his distant past all call him Raymond even though he is not - as they are all russians and trained to keep up the masquerade, LOL!

LOL!!!! So true!!
Do you like this episode better BBB? I like it a lot.Much better - still could use a slight tincture of Red
No doubt. I was just so disappointed in the pilot of Redemption I wasn't even sure I would watch again. This is a worthwhile episode I think.
They're trying really hard to get Dumont over - still a bit of work to do. Tawny really got over this episode as she had near lead role. Tom, of course was over from the get-go. Still a bit of a problem enacting the Terry O'Quinn character and surprisingly Scottie not completely over despite earnest efforts.

Solomon at his meanest best!!

Tawny almost went "Red" on the Russian stick lady while she told her about her impending downfall! Hilarious+++

BBB - LOL, so true!

Tawny has a beautifully verbal "Red" scene - then, not to be undone Solomon Grundy has one of the grittiest death scenes on network TV - a veritable triple-header . . . Nods like Red

BBB - absolutely agree, good stuff

WOW that's an intense plot twist....Scottie is a doppelgänger of the original Scottie!

And of course if true she may not be the only one....

Smart episode, near-perfect writing and decent direction. All the actors turned in fine performances tonite - but immo Tawny Cypress was the break-out star.
Followed closely by:
2. Tom
3. Solomon
4. Tom's "Fake Lizzy"
5. Dumont
6. Terry O'Quinn
7. Scottie H.

Spader makes everyone he's worked with a better actor/actress.
Eddy & Tawny obviously took notes!

So now this makes me wonder whether "Katarina" was really Katarina....or "took over" someone that Red maybe knew......how she could be in Moscow yet in California at the same time.....the plot now potentially thickens when thinking about that Kirk/Red last conversation....LOL
Probably now but a wild idea. we will get some clues soon I think.

Hmmmm.... I'm not so sure I like this twist. It's intriguing but it's also cheap in my mind. Scottie Hargrave is actually a sleeper agent doppleganger? The real Scottie Hargrave was murdered?
My basic requirement of a film/tv/book is that the viewer/reader could possibly figure things out with the information given not something so outlandish.
On the other hand, this concept is something the Johns have talked about: that there were whole Russian towns dedicated to creating spies who could completely fit in to a different country.
It makes a lot of sense now when Red tells Tom not to go there, not to look into it....

Lara - when we first learned of Katarina in TBL and they spoke of her as an "amalgamation" I took it to literally mean such a thing. I think I even mentioned it on our old discussion board: that Katarina was like Captain Jack Sparrow: the original retired and he passed along the business to another who took on the name and persona of Captain Jack!

Tatiana - this plot line could make one go crazy now thinking back on Carla/Naomi, whom Berlin sneeringly called "Mrs. Red-ding-ton", Red, Kaplan even Kirk. (Living in Canada as well as Russia?)
LOL I don't think its that pervasive....but it does make one wonder about certain characters we haven't been able to figure out, haha
