I agree with you Lara. I think the Janet/Annie character can be used in a comedic way as a potential tormentor/intervenor in the Aram/Samar relationship. But as the show-runners brains tick for plot ideas - she can be held in reserve for various missions. Because of her high personality quotient and obvious hi-level spy & physical combat skills.
Thus, they could use her as a device in the following ways (suggested):

1. 3rd person in the Samar-Aram ship
2. Seeking redemption as a good guy - possibly working with Tom on Redemption although its clear Famke is the #1 female lead. They will need a secondary female lead
3. On missions with Red. Now that Red's world has started to cave - a reliable and youthful female spy could be a resource he can't resist utilizing. She'd be a great 3rd player with Red & Dembe.
4. Working out of the Post Office as a temporary NSA assignee - and ultimately getting paired with either/both Ressler and Samar. Samar holds Elise in high contempt for what she did to Aram - it would be interesting to see them work as Oil & Water on various missions - although the Post Office is usually well behind Red on their various sojourns
