BBB - yeah, Harold should have let Red speak with her. He should know that Red doesn't take "no" for an answer......!!

I really enjoyed this episode. Felt like the "old" Blacklist to me. Had a lot of good ingredients, mixed well!

I'm not thrilled that Red took out a number of US Marshals to get Stone.
What if baby Hargrave really was killed, and Red is only hinting to Tom that's who he is in order to get some Intel on Scottie?
Also, last time we were around Scottie, wasn't her husband a shut in invalid? And now he's flying in a plane? (Was he the pilot?)

Did anyone see a similarity between the scene with Red tinkering with the metal works of a mechanism and talking with Tom about his past to the scene early in the series of Red tinkering with the music box and talking with Liz?

LD Jones - on Hargrave, that is possible. There is def some reason Red wants to keep Scottie and Tom (and Howard) apart. Either that, or the real Christopher was kidnapped and replaced with someone else or there was an elaborate plot and that "murderer" was somehow coerced to confessing. There was never a body found, right? hmmm
I don't like that Red took out the marshals either. He's getting increasingly desperate.....

Yes, so similar! and he is back in that same room, where he hasn't been in ages and ages.....he doesn't want either of them (Tom or Liz) digging up the past....more similarities are unfolding.
And what the heck was he making this time? I guess we'll have to wait and see....hopefully its not another music box (that would be very suspect, unless its for Agnes!)

LD Jones - yes, I thought Howard was an invalid also, possibly on a respirator? He's either made a good recovery or was never ill to begin with - just dropped out of sight for his own reasons and the cover was that he was ill? And maybe someone else was on that respirator? hmmm

I'm curious to see what info Red gets out of Isabella Stone. Does she know him in some personal way? She gave him such a knowing look in the promo.
lara1 - I noticed the cuckoo clock too. We talked about that clock in the bail bonds office at the time that episode aired. What do cuckoos symbolize? I've forgotten.
BBB - I really liked Red's story about meeting the young doctor too.
Other things I liked about the episode:
1 Tom trying to dig up his past - I loved seeing him surrounded by all those newspaper clippings and police reports, and then telling Liz he was watching the man who murdered him. I found this plotline highly interesting.
2. Liz going the extra mile for Red by picking the lock and storage unit and then reporting back to him.
3. Liz saving the drowning doctor.
4. Red describing Baz and Dembe as the car thieves.
I do wonder about these drowning scenes. I wonder if they're foreshadowing something coming about Katarina's drowning.
That's all for now. I look forward to doing a rewatch, especially since I missed the first scene.

Tatiana - There are so many callbacks to Season 1 in Season 4, and the tinkering scene definitely mirrors the music box scene in Season 1.

Tuxie400 - I think cuckoo clocks in one culture represent unrequited love. Since Red was focused on it, that's interesting....
I too liked the scenes you listed. Yeah, we have had at least one, maybe two other drownings/swimming pools in the last couple of episodes.
Wouldn't it be awesome if Isabella Stone is working for Katarina? given the swimming pools....but why would Katarina be after Red? hmm

Tuxie400 and Tatiana - there are so many similarities with Season 1....I wonder if the end of the season will likewise mirror the ending of Season 1 in some way.....that ended with Liz not killing Tom and Tom telling Liz that her father is alive; Red telling Liz her father died in the fire, and Berlin looking to avenge Red for killing his daughter (he thinks).
Any one of those threads could be mirrored in a similar storyline with Red....

Why would Katarina be after Red? Maybe she's mad that his involvement with Liz has gotten her in so much trouble and put her in harms way. Or maybe she knows about Kaplan.

That is a good question. Just a thought I'm kicking around. Maybe Red broke some promise to her (K) by coming back into Liz's life. Whoever it is seems set to destroy Red's empire and reputation, not necessarily kill him. though it could put into play a chain of events that would result in that.....

I was thinking the season will end with Red being captured and arrested, probably charged with the murder of those U.S. marshall who were guarding Isabella Stone.
Offline
Tuxie400 - that is possible. He may have gone too far in attacking those marshals.......

Yes, a much better show than last week!
I won't comment at length because -- as usual -- it has been a long week, and I'm prone to saying dumb things when I'm this tired. I agree: they're setting up Tom's past for "Redemption." Maybe they're going to try to tell the story they were originally going to tell with Liz.
I have some problems with Red's empire coming under attack. It seems like he would have some better safeguards in place, especially after the bout with Berlin.
Perhaps my main problem is that Red still doesn't have the right, larger-than-life foe. Maybe they are leading up to that. So did Katrina hire Isabella Stone? If not, we seemed to have lost that thread.
And where's Kate? I was hoping for at least a 10 second glimpse of her. Dang!

Watching the last 3 or 4 episodes I really don't believe our show-runners have a clear sense of the direction they'd like to take our great show. They've created a myriad of rabbit holes they can send Red, Lizzy, Tom, even Samar Dangerfield & Aram "Barney Fife", Harold, etc.
Almost like they're making up episodes on the fly - hoping that a brilliant lead actor can make us believe something is always about to happen!
Tonite's Blacklister #34 started out like a house on fire but ended up with a whimper!

I think I recognized the police inspector from an episode of Person of Interest. Just can't remember his name! Anyone?

HI Iowa Watcher! My thought is that Kate will return in the last episode before the break; failing that, not til near the end of the season. Just a gut feeling.

BBB - Samar Dangerfield! LOL.
I did not recognize the police inspector, sorry.
