I have a few minutes, so I'm starting the thread. Should be a great show! Even if it's not, I found a single piece of chocolate cake at the HyVee bakery this morning to have with my tea tonight!
How is everyone else doing? What's your snack?

Thank you for starting the thread, Iowa Watcher!
I was just looking at some tweets about tonight’s episode. There is a good sneak peek clip of Red and Cooper where Red explains the nature of his empire. I think it was from TV Guide. And I was just reading another description of the finale where John Eisendrath says that the finale will reveal an even greater danger to Red. To me that sounded like Marvin probably is working for someone or something even greater than himself.
In any case this will be good because it looks like a lot of interaction between Red, Harold and Marvin and these are some fine actors!
Not sure about my snack yet. I was going to make a cherry pie, but I ate all the cherries!

Wonder if Red confesses to his good friend Harold, exactly how he was snookered by his #1 organization man???

Very interesting type of episode. More Marvin than ever before. Almost like he was the first male lead - while Red was the strong supporting player.
Biggest twist was Dembe Zuma branching off to provide protection services for Red while Weecha recovers. I think most thought Alina Park would be the designated protector - even though Reddington has 100s of capable mountain men in his vast world-wide criminal arsenal!
The Norwegian para-military guy who was dispatched by Marvin to off Reddington was an interesting character. 18 minutes under-water before giving in - thats really amazing. The guy was a cross between James Bond + Derek Flint.
Reddington allowed the physically inept Marvin too easy an exit after luring him into his well-crafted trap. One quick head butt and Marvin was off too the races like the wiley weasel he's become!
I guess show-runners can't afford to have Marvin taken down by either Red or the Task Force - cuz he's about the heaviest black-lister they've got that doesn't require re-building or a new character. Marvin is such a well-developed criminal foe for Red. I'm guessing he'll be kept around for another season. And don't for a minute discount Red & Marvin working together if their mutual interests overlap.

Yes! I liked that Dembe was back with Red, as least for the episode. He is just not credible for me as an FBI agent.
I also really liked that the security camera had audio -- nice touch! That took some thinking. I love little details like that.
I'm still having trouble seeing Marvin as a antagonist, but I'm trying to roll with it. The details are good, but I'm still not buying that he thought all that up himself. It seems like there should be someone worse above him calling the shots, as we discussed last week.
I'm trying my best to keep an open mind, but my worst fear is they'll end on some sort of cliff-hanger implying that Liz is alive. That would annoy me. I'd like to see them get back to the spy stuff.

Honey West! You ate the strawberries!! 😆😆
IW, I had a delicious strawberry tort with a bunch of whip cream! I spotted the bakery had one left and hurried my way over to it!
I really enjoyed seeing Dembe working with Red. It seams a bit more normal to me.
I am wondering why he is 80 on the blacklist? I would have thought anyone having something to do with Liz dying would have a single digit.
It really feels odd to see Marvin as a bad guy. He was set up by Mr. Kaplan and Liz. Went to jail and let us not forget he had a visit with Mr. Brimley! I did feel a bit sorry for him. I hope the writers bring this out.

@Eastcoast, he's number 80 as he was already a blacklister in season 3. That and they messed up their system as they probably didn't expect to make 10 seasons. The past seasons have had extraordinarily low-ranked blacklisters and there are only 2 numbers in the top100 left for next season.

Marvin attained #80 status before turning on Reddington. Although the premise for his escape from Reddington's grasp was weak (a simple headbutt to Red after Harold called in an emergency alert at the airport) there were other weaknesses to the sub-premise. Red didn't have any of his mountain men positioned around Marvin, if Marvin either ran for the exits (which he did) or pulled a piece. From Marvin's standpoint, poor writing, too as Marvin had no protection with him when he made his trek up the escalator. For men so detailed & meticulous in their underground behavior they were both made to look like feeble old men only capable of vomiting words - NOT ACTIONS!

I did watch the show but had a busy weekend afterwards! My snack was three Lindnor white chocolate truffles that I had stashed in the cupboard. I tried to eat them very slowly, but with our current heatwave the insides were liquid! I should have put them in the fridge first.
Loved seeing Dembe working with Red again. He was very careful to not betray Red while not working against the FBI. A fine line he will be treading in the future, I'm sure.
Marvin is pretty ruthless, but not as ruthless as Red can be. Red has been "softer" lately, but seemed to be getting his killer groove back in this episode. Meirce won't like that. Marvin teared up when Liz died, even though he made it happen. But I think he was more sorry for what he did to Red than what he did to Liz.
How could Red just be pushed over by Marvin like that. Very un-Red-like. But I guess Marvin had to get away somehow. I still think he is working with someone else, but we shall see!
Fisker was a cool customer. Who else did the ice bath thing, wasn't that Berlin?
Well, next week is the last Blacklist for quite awhile. I read that it will be back midseason next year. And back on Thursday night.

Hi, Eastcoast! I think Yeti and BBB are correct about the #80. Sorry it's so hot for you, HW! send a little heat out my way -- it was in the upper 30s last night. I had to cover all of my flowers. That's unusual in late May!
BBB -- I agree about the poor writing in that scene. I have to wonder sometimes if they are pulling some of the writing from other shows or writers that don't know about the Blacklist characters -OR- maybe they didn't have a lot of time or money and need to shoot a quick scene to advance the story. I hope that we don't see any of that in part two.
The show needs to get back to better chemistry and characters we care about and compelling mysteries. They had some great ideas going. I hope the show can return to that for the 10th season.

If next season is a shortened 12 episode arc then I'm all for TBL producers keeping Marvin Gerard around for the bulk of it. Marvin presents RED with his most horrific foe to date. Some of the ways to spice up next season would be for Alina Park to join Team Marvin, Dembe returning to the FBI and possibly Harold joining up as Red's right hand man. Can't see the semi straight-laced Ressler joining up with any particular faction so he'd be forced to stay in the mail box with Aram. Try to bring back Samar as the 3rd wheel in the post office with a couple guest stars taking 4th & 5th person roles.
In other words - SHAKE THE DRINK UP LIKE ITS NEVER BEEN SHAKEN BEFORE . . . .

Interesting ideas, BBB. I agree about Marvin. However, I'm not a Park fan, even if she goes to the other side, which would be interesting for an episode or two, but I don't like her character that well.
But, yes!, Shake it! LOL.

Not a Park fan either but the actress playing her has improved significantly since she first came on board. Like Samar, Park is a known player regardless of her shortcomings or inability to define the character. Samar would be a good add, too into the TBL mix - I'd hate to see her joining up with Marvin, however - leave that to Park, even Ressler. The worst shakeup in TV drama history would be for Dembe Zuma to join Marvin - that would make just about every TBL fan sick, I'm sure of it.

Hey, it's enough of a stretch for me that Dembe joined the FBI. Joining with Marvin would be too much. I don't think they will go that route, but you might be right about Park. It looks like they are poised to do something new with her or replace her character.
Ressler needs a new, dangerous love interest. I've had more than enough of the drug arc.
