Oh, my gosh! I'm still processing all that. Well done! That was the episode we needed to tie some things together.
Eastcoast, no cake for me tonight: huge stuffed baked potato with bacon and sour cream! I needed the fat.

Enjoyed seeing the Ghost of Mr. Kaplan...

Very nice episode. Now I think most of you know how hard it would have been to de-humanize Liz with Megan Boone on-screen. She's just a naturally born face - hard to portray her as evil with her acting - so by taking her off the show for a few weeks they managed to de-humanize her. Tonite - she was totally re-humanized by letting Reddington live while he was tending to Anne.
On a totally separate note - I loved the reference to one of my favorite books of all-time. The Phantom Toll-Booth by Norton Juster. Juster just died a couple weeks back, he was 89/90. Phantom TollBooth was published in 1961.
Its a children's book for children 10 to 100. . . . pick it up, give it a try and pass it on to a child or grand-child, 9 to 14 with an active imagination. Its just a beautiful book, especially if you like word play!

I knew when I saw it was written by the Johns that we would get some good stuff. I’ll bet they were happy to write something for Kate.
Kate reminded me of one of those cartoon devils that sit on people’s shoulders telling them to do bad things. Of course she was representing Liz's dark side. And Liz hasn’t crossed the Rubicon yet, which is why she was still having that conversation. The whole time, since Red shot Katarina, Liz has not been able to kill Red face to face. She tried the Wile E. Coyote route with bombs, and then decided to use Townsend to do it. And when she finally had him, it looks like she still couldn’t do it.
I agree, we needed to have things tied together. I found that last bit interesting, when Liz asked Red if he could see Kate and he said he knew she was there.
I need to watch again, but were they saying Liz got her scar at 14 again?

Yes, I think the dialog went: "Why do you tell people you got that scar at 14?" and then there's a much younger Liz on the screen. That's from memory.
I think they might be engaging in a little revisionist history to set up the next season (yes, I saw that the show was renewed).
BBB -- yes, I think they successfully "rehumanized" Liz. That's a cool way of putting it.
We'll see where this arc goes. When the Blacklist writing is good, it's compelling. When it's bad . . .
I hope it stays good for awhile.

I don't think they're saying Liz got her scar at 14. They're just saying she tells people that. She told Kaplan she does it to hide the truth. Kaplan told her, ""it isn't only part of your past, it's the key to your future." So does that mean the scar does hide something, as many of us have suggested in the past. Are there treasures hidden in scars just like Tommy the Courier had back in Season 1?

It was a better episode that I expected. I enjoyed seeing Kaplan again, even if she was sort of an evil ghost. I like that we got Townsend's explanation to Liz about who in his family was murdered and why. I need to read the script or rewatch the episode to get all that nailed down. I'm glad to see Liz hasn't crossed the Rubicon yet, and that she still struggles with innocent people being hurt or killed. I wondered what happened to the "love wins" philosophy. It was good to hear Mrs. French resurrect it.
