Episode 8.13 - Anne

Just posting the thread for tonight's episode. Looks like an interesting one. According to JB, Red has been seeing Anne since we last saw her. I hope she doesn't fall victim to the "curse of the Cartwright women". LOL!

See you all on the other side!

Wow! Still absorbing all that. Great show!

Eastcoast, it was chocolate cheese cake from the deli for me tonight. What did you have?

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

Just when I was getting all annoyed at Dembe for meddling in Red's love life ... someone else takes that role. And I am not going to cut this person any slack, for unlike Dembe, it's not due to caring about Red!

Absolutely!!! Had me in tears at times!

I knew Anne would do the right thing! Lachanze might be the only American actress who could stand up to James Spader in their amazing scenes.

Kudos to the veteran actress who played "Lois" . . . only other actor who had significant role in tonite's affair - - - besides Townsend and his merry band of assassins!

Took 59 minutes and 58 seconds but they finally re-introduced Liz into the Reddington equation!

Don't worry, folks . . . .LaChanze (Anne) is in good hands with Elizabeth . . . ! ! ! (I think)

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

"How many are coming?"
"All of them."

Great episode. Well done all around. I didn’t see everything coming which is always a good thing. I expected Dembe to show up and he did not. Nothing tied up and the war continues. And, of course, Liz shows up and grabs Anne in the end. Just when you thought maybe she’d get away and go hide. What made Red turn around? Did he suddenly realize that it was Liz’s plan to find and grab Anne (using Townsend) and force him into a confrontation without Dembe and where she would have the upper hand? Check, and possibly, mate?

Next week is supposed to be a lot of recapping how we got to this point so I am not expecting much of anything to be resolved. But we did hear Kaplan's voice over the previews telling Liz she needed to end it. I suspect Liz is talking to ghosts again.

Off to read the EW recap. I want to see what Jodi Walker thinks about this one. Her recaps are always amusing, too.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

Certainly one of the best episodes of the season! I loved the Townsend onslaught and Red going to the police station for help. And why was Liz there with Anne? Is she holding Anne hostage, or is Anne working with her? With the Kaplan voice, I do think Liz is talking to ghosts again.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

I did find it strange, the writers had Red knowing nothing about bridge.  My mind immediately went to Season 3 when Red was orchestrating the plan to get Liz out of jail and told Task Force members:

" Oh, my God, this is why I’m a terrible bridge player. With anyone else, Steve Lyditt would have won the North American pairs. We didn’t even make it through regionals. I abhor working with a partner. Sharing my hand with anyone goes against every instinct I have. "

I mean he must have known something about bridge, or he wouldn't have entered a bridge tournament.  Of course that could have been something from the real RR's life.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

That's an interesting observation, Tuxie400. I had forgotten he'd said that. He must be good enough to even enter a tournament, although I suppose it could have been part of his cover for some operation he was on. You're right, maybe the real RR was a noted bridge player. Sort of like Omar Sharif. And when Red began impersonating him, he had to take a crash course in bridge and needed to brush up on the way to Kansas. I liked that Anne lived in Kansas so we got another Kansas connection.

Oh yeah, there was even a reference to Cattington. It sounds like s/he is still with us.😼

We finally watched last night and my husband pointed out the preview was Mr Kaplan's voice. I like your idea that it was Liz and "ghosts" again :-)

Sorry I"ve been out of pocket, folks. TBL hasn't been as absorbing for me now that all the puzzles are gone, but it's still an enjoyable show!

I didn't expect Liz to show up at the end. Very interesting.
Of course, where is Waldo...I mean Megan Boone???

Great to hear from you Tatiana!

I just don’t quite remember Kate telling Liz that she needed to end it, dearie. I just figured that if she could have a lengthy cemetery conversation with Tom’s ghost, why not Kate?

I guess we’ll see Megan next week. About time!

While Megan has been absent from the screen, the show-runners have tried desperately to de-humanize her, turning her into a world-wide & notorious criminal killing-machine. I think they did an admirable job.

With Megan's return, so returns the challenge. They'll obviously have to re-humanize her as Megan Boone is by nature, a baby-face aka a nice person.

So thats the challenge facing TBL. Can an on-screen Megan be as criminally villainous as what was purported when she was taken off the screen and only a 3rd person presence in the show.

I don't think so. Thats why I strongly believe she'll have to be re-humanized upon being re-injected onto the show.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

Hi Tatiana!  Good to see a post from you this season!

BBB - Good point about how they've been able to de-humanize Liz when she's off-screen.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

BBB, I am thinking that may be one of the purposes of having the recap episode this week as a way to bring Liz back in as a person. How she got to this point, if we forgot, from her point of view. I am intrigued by the use of Kate in doing this story. They left a lot of loose ends when they killed her off. She was just about to show Liz something very important.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

You win the Blacklist Memory Award, Tuxie! I had totally forgotten about the bridge reference.
Good to see you, Tatianna! Stick around. I'll bet they've saved the best for the end of the season.

Re: Episode 8.13 - Anne

Tatiana, so nice to hear from you.  Don't be a stranger.

IowaWatcher,  that's sounded really great!  I haven't had that in a long time. The Bakery had something new. An Italian Cream Cake. It was awesome!  It would be nice if they offered more slices where I go. They only have a few things they do that with.

This week I have Tillamook ice cream sandwiches.

Thank you Tuxie!  I knew he had mentioned the game in a story.  I said it was either a made up story or the writers forgot!

I would bet the writers forgot.  The fans know this show so much better than the writers.
