Thank you HW!!
I am hoping this episode might tell us a little more about this circle of friends Red has and what they do. Not holding my breath though....
I have 🍎 Turnovers, a Blueberry Lemon 🥧 and Icecream 🍦!
IowaWatcher, what might you have? Anyone else have any goodies for the show?

Yes, much better episode tonight! Everything worked and I was able to follow it, even though I'm tired.
Yummy, Eastcoast! I had a slice of carrot cake from the grocery store bakery.

It was what I expected from a Lukas Reiter penned episode. He seems to specialize in the spy stuff stories. I didn’t catch who directed, but I can check that later.
I was glad they got the Cooper abduction stuff out of the way near the beginning. Rakitin was an unpleasant enough character that I really didn’t mind that the only way to deal with him in the end was to kill him. He thought he was important enough that he was fairly safe.
So Sikorsky is another one of Reds longtime friends as well as a coconspirator. Didn’t stop Red from smacking him down, though. And who is really in charge of the endgame? I think Red made that perfectly clear, although I had been getting the impression that Sikorsky might be in charge.
Don’t mess with Cooper! Red went to great lengths and sacrificed Rakitin to save him. Just what is Cooper’s importance to Red? Is this just because of Reds respect for him? Gotta be more to it?
So I guess Reds endgame is The End.
Is it next week that they are repeating 8.04? I suppose we will see Liz fairly soon. She was almost there tonight.
Good episode.

Until this episode I thought Sikorsky was at the top of the food chain until Red punched him. At least that was clarified in this episode. It was funny how they were trying to hook us again with all that talk about endgames and "the end." Like Ressler, I still miss Liz.

We always said that, whatever his methods, Red has a moral compass. It's interesting to see who and what he prioritizes as he moves towards his endgame. It's taken 30 years and I would imagine he's had to make a lot of those types of decisions. Obviously Rakitin was a very important asset, but replaceable as far as what he provided. Katarina was dispensable. She might have been important in the past and she was important to Liz, but Red made the decision that it was more important to eliminate her in spite of knowing how it might affect Liz. She was actually more of a liability to his plan by the end. Cooper is obviously more important than even someone like Rakitin. I just keep thinking that no matter how much Red likes somebody, if they get in the way of his plan, they are disposable. So that is why I think Cooper might have a larger role to play in Red's plan, and that Cooper himself probably has no idea. But perhaps Cooper's future role may be Liz's "spiritual advisor". Maybe?

This was an episode of TOTAL SYNERGY . .
Syngergy of great writing meeting great plot, acted out by great actors under great direction. Need I say more?
Building up the Liz-less tension is something they're getting better at. The guy who played Rakitin (Andrew Patterson) bears a strong resemblance to Ryan Eggold aka Tom Keen. Sikorsky also put in a nice effort.
I thought this was Alina Park's best episode since taking over Mozhan Marno's spot. Her expressions were real, not wooden. Might be a keeper!
The best acting was, as usual saved for Spader's Reddington & Harry Lennix's Harold Cooper. Even the charismatic and accent-infused Cynthia Pannabaker couldn't outshine Harold (or Red).
A to A+ episode immo.

Did anyone catch the name at the end of the episode - In Memory?

It was nice to have something clarified.

I agree. I thought Park looked more comfortable in her role.

HW, Mahesh Pailoor was the director.
I guess Rakitin was going to cave easier than I would have thought. After seeing the episode of Chemical Mary using poison on an object to kill someone, i knew something was up with the blank letter. Good thing Park didn't open it!
IowaWatcher, I'm craving carrot cake now! Lol

I have chocolate cake tonight, Eastcoast. It's a re-run, isn't it? No matter. I have about half a glass of red wine to go with the cake.
