Season 7 Poster

The S-7 Poster bugs me a little bit, saying 'he told you not to trust him'.

He told her he could trust him in S1.  She had said she didn't know who to trust, and he told her she could trust him.  Not sure where this is coming from?  Is this the Official Poster?

Re: Season 7 Poster

Yes, that is the official Season 7 Poster that was first released to TV Guide. I agree with what you said. It bugs me too. Red has always said Liz could trust him. Whether he trusts Liz is another issue.

What if the he and him aren't the same person?
It made me think of Tom telling Liz not to trust Red, and Red telling Liz not to trust Tom.

Tuxie, exactly what I was thinking. Another Lexical Ambiguity! Who is the He they are talking about?
I love it!

Re: Season 7 Poster

I imagine the writers are going to do everything they can with the wording to keep us guessing.  Lol

Re: Season 7 Poster

I also had the thought that the tagline could be about Red misleading everyone with this Robins "Katarina."

Re: Season 7 Poster

There's two ways to read it:
1) It's Red addressing Liz - some of that theorizing we've recently wondered about... maybe Liz is special to him for an additional reason. Maybe he really does have an ulterior motive and there's something about Liz that he wants to get.
2) It's directed at us, the audience.

I'm more inclined to believe the latter. The showrunners have repeatedly told us "don't get too comfortable"
"Red is both good and bad"... leaving us to believe that there could be a dark line running through his soul.

Re: Season 7 Poster

I think it goes back to Tom telling Liz not to trust him. But when did he say it?

He implies it in Season 1, The Pavlovich Brothers
Tom: I am not here to hurt you, Liz. My job was never to hurt you. I’m one of the good guys. Reddington. He’s not who you think.
Liz: I will find you.
Tom: I can prove it. The key in the lamp. I know you found it. Take it to Radford Bank. Box number 3929. He is not who you think he is. Goodbye, Liz.

Season 2:  Dr. James Covington
Tom to Liz in her dream:
Tom: Don’t. Listen to me. Reddington knows where I am. He found me, and he is coming here, but you need to know that you can’t trust him. He is using you. And when Berlin is dead, he will kill you.
Of course that's Liz's subconscious really saying it.

Later in Season 2's  Vanessa Cruz episode, Tom tells Liz:
You don't get it. Even after all this time, Reddington is dangeous, and he is playing you.

In the Season 5 finale, Liz hallucinates Tom at his grave.  He says:
Be careful, Liz.  This man - whoever he is - he's dangerous.

Again this is Liz's subconscious. But the words come out of Tom's mouth.

Red has told Liz to trust him in pretty much every season.

YES!
Tom warned Liz about Red over and over again - he's a powerful man, Liz... don't trust him.. be careful, Liz.

Gosh, now I'm going to have to go back and look at that. Can we trust Tom that he was telling Liz the truth?
I actually think we can because,
1) We know that even by the time he married her, he had feelings for her and that he eventually fell in love with her
2) In many ways, Tom and Red were birds of a feather. Tom understood the depths of Red's capabilities. And he knew all too well what he was capable of.

Tuxie/HoneyWest -

We also know that others felt Red couldn't be trusted.
Carla/Naomi clearly indicated that Red was using Liz.

Re: Season 7 Poster

This is what Carla/Naomi says to Liz:

He wants something from you. It’s a game. It’s a manipulation. He’s made you feel a connection that makes you feel like you matter somehow. And there’s no one on earth who can make a woman feel like the center of his universe more than Raymond Reddington. I’ll tell you this, though. He’s not who you think he is.

Re: Season 7 Poster

Perfect, Tuxie400! I was pretty sure he actually had said those words to Liz at some point, even if it was Liz's subconscious Tom telling her that. When you think about it, Liz is supposed to be a terrific profiler, this is actually her subconscious trying to tell her what she really, down deep, already knows - don’t trust this man. But her emotional brain, needing to find a connection to him is overriding what she really knows is true.

And yes, Tatiana, she keeps getting that same warning from others about his manipulation, his "game".
