Harold and Red scene: I took it as one of Liz's "Dads" chewing out another "Dad".
Liz has a multi-faceted Dad made up of an amalgamation of men in her life: Sam; Red, Alexander/Constantin, Harold. Yet none of them are her 'real' father.
Nevertheless, I loved that snippet. Harold was not at all afraid of chewing out Red, and Red seemed to actually listen to what Harold was saying. Interesting.

lara1 - I guess the old "I speak only to Elizabeth Keen" is no longer in play. Before the break, Red gave the info once to the task force himself and once to Samar. Perhaps he just wanted to give Liz more time at home with Agnes. I think it worked from a writing standpoint. But I think any episode that doesn't have any scenes with Red and Liz together is lacking.
And Eastcoast #79
Good points. It did seem like a way for Red to bring harold's rant (in his view) to a stop and focus things elsewhere.
Tuxie400 - I agree it worked from a writing standpoint. Reminded me a bit of when Red went to Harold to report on progress with Kirk when Liz was "dead". But I agree, we need them both talking to each other again, in a serious way. That scene in the car, I think it was episode 4.04, when Red takes Liz's hand, was heart-wrenching with all the understated emotions. (In fact I think throughout the series, all of the car scenes are very effective - either explosive emotionally between them or heart wrenching

The flag pins -
I'm starting to think about these again after thursday's episode. Can it be that they appear on people who are the opposite (of patriotic, loyall, honest)? The team project team runner from Blackthorne Kincaid was wearing one and he was portrayed as a traitor. I'm thinking that "Black"thorne Kincaid logo over the black and white American flag was trying to draw a parallel with Red and the red flags we see around him a lot (not including the opening credits, which also have them) . I wonder if it is a general symbol of treachery, disloyalty, betrayal, duplicity. Serious betrayal of Red by someone he did not expect it of -
Tom Connolly comes to mind as someone who wore the pin. Diaz and his crony (well he seems like a crony) wear one. Did Laurel or the Director ever wear one? Whereas the people we know to be honest, don't. (Ressler, Aram, Liz for example.) The immediate question for me is Harold. Is he perhaps not what he seems? His lapel flag pin is worn so prominently....
I know several of us have commented on the flags and flag pins in the past....It would be interesting to try to remember every character who has worn such a pin to date.

Tatiana - You are so right about that and the father amalgamation! LOL

lara1 - Interesting thoughts about the flag pins. Harold has some skeletons in his closet, but I don't think he's currently hiding anything.

Ressler tossed a guy into oncoming traffic
I guess that's on way to stop the bad guy.
I didn't get a feeling that there was anything "deeper" in this episode. Everything felt plain, with the exception of Samar/Aram duo and that story line.
It's always nice seeing Liz and Tom being happy together and Uncle Baz on watchout duty. And I'm glad that Liz starts back at work full time next episode, even Tom seemed genuinely happy for her.
Patter - Ressler has been getting more aggressive in handling suspects this season. First the torture before the break, and now throwing a suspect into oncoming traffic. Liz and Tom don't get a lot of time to be happy, so this was a nice little respite for them.

Wonder how they'll handle Tom leaving Liz for Mama Famke? Suspect they'll have him called in for a 1 episode mission - then becomes long-term! Liz back to mope-mode - Red, Dembe & Baz all get honorary godfather pins!

Honey West #88 - LOL!
For those who are not aware yet, The Blacklist Exposed podcast announced during their 4.09 recap that they will have Jon Bokenkamp on sometime before Redemption airs. Which I take to mean sometime within the next 6 weeks or so. No firm date confirmed yet.
Tuxie400 - do I remember you saying that you are part of that Facebook group (BL exposed)? apologies if it was not you but I think it was? I haven't looked at the actual FB site in a while but it appears to no longer be "public". i.e. I'm not on FB but was able to read the comments (not post, reply etc just read). I can no longer see the comments, though I can for other public FB sites. Just wondered if you might be aware if they changed the status or not.

LOL! That must be it!

lara1 - You have to request to join The Blacklist Exposed group now to be able to read and post. I think that was a result of the mean shipper wars and Daddygate Vs. Lizzington fights.

Thanks Tuxie400. That's a shame. But I understand the reasoning. Oh well.

lara1, Besides the fact that it just cracked me up when she said that, it sounded so much like something I would say.
