Eastcoast - BL does love its time warps. LOL

Yes! I thought Hitchcock at first, but then I did think about Maltese Falcon too

That's funny! The clips are not from Maltese Falcon. There is a 1950 movie called The Man from Cairo that I speed watched on You Tube. It's film noir and features George Raft in a hat, but the clips are not from that one either. It does however feature a bad guy named Moreau who masquerades as a French intelligence officer named LeBlanc in order to steal a massive amount of gold coins stolen in WWII. It also features mistaken identity, a mysterious man with no thumb who knows what happened to the gold, and characters named Constantine and Dumont (the tech guy who worked for Scottie Hargrave). All roads lead to BL again!

LOL! Dear lord this is funny!
I hadn't watched The Maltese Falcon in forever (and I didn't realize it was the first of the film noir genre). It really is a fascinating film! Perfectly executed. One of the reviews I listened to they talked about what is real and what isn't; who's speaking the truth and who is speaking a lie;
Yes, Tuxie, all roads lead back to TBL.

I kept thinking the name reminds me of The Island of Dr. Moreau, so I did a little looking and found a Wikipedia reference re: the book's many adaptations and found that Christopher Lambert played a Dr. Moreau in a 2018 Italian horror film called La Voce del Lupo.

La Voce de Lupo? Isn't that the voice of the wolf? Oh, my, I love this show!

So many connections!

Awesome, BBB!
I still think they ought to accept some scripts from die-hard fans. There are some great writers and good ideas floating around. While I'm sure none of us would want to do that on a weekly basis, if they collected even 10 good scripts, they might be further ahead than some of the dreck they've had on.
I want to re-watch some of this season, but I'm off this week and focusing on the house. I didn't take on a heavyweight fixer-upper this last time that I moved, but there's a lot of updating to do in the form of painting and fixing holes in the walls. There were teenagers here, and it looks like they hung up some shelves and other decor that were too heavy for the drywall, plus they didn't use wall anchors, so I've had to patch and sand before I could paint. The good news: most of the baby poop brown is now a nice neutral taupe.
I think about a lot of Red's stories while I'm painting. Sometimes they are just running in my head. (-:

LOL! Yes. I wonder if the writers picked the name after he had been cast. Plus Lambert has that gruff growly voice to go with it.

"Shelves too heavy for the drywall". Bane of my early existence in book-selling & collecting. If Red were to comment on this affliction - he might say: "Dembe, find the good fellow who invented drywall. Kill him without explanation. Bury the evidence behind the drywall!"

I've been thinking about the relationship between Red and Harold Cooper again. My thoughts have evolved over time. Here's what I think today.
I think Red knew a lot about Cooper and may have personally known him before he became RR. In my view, Red engineered just who would work with Elizabeth Keen on his task force. He knew the truth of Cooper's character, both the hubris and the good heart. But do friends blackmail friends? I think Red came to Cooper in advance of his surrender and blackmailed Cooper into paving the way for the surrender (changing fingerprints, making medical records match or whatever). He likely also asked for Donald Ressler to be called into the mix to make the positive ID. Although Ressler had been Red's pursuer, he knew Donald's reputation as a Boy Scout and man of integrity. Cooper brought Aram in from the NSA, but I think Red had already vetted him. And of course, we know Samar was handpicked by Red. It always seemed so strange to me that Cooper just added a Mossad agent to the mix. By then, Red had turned over the blackmail info but wanted Cooper to come back. I was never sure why Cooper changed his mind about returning to lead the task force. He seemed dead set against it when Red visited him at home. I think at that point Coop may have felt Red threatened his family by asking about the photos.
In Season 1, Cooper seemed to personally dislike Red. He expressed as much in a conversation with Meera Malik:
Can I tell you something……about Reddington?……I hate working with the man. He’s dangerous, amoral. He pathologically flaunts authority. He’s reckless to the point of suicidal. But all this, everything we’ve done – none of this would have been possible if it weren’t for him.
Cooper and Red have come a long way since then. Their relationship grew into friendship as the seasons progressed. You see it most especially in Seasons 3-6.

Of course the name Moreau IS most often linked to the 1896 book by H.G. Wells, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and the three movies by the same name. The Sci-Fi book involves a mad scientist's scientific experimentation to create human-animal hybrids. In the 1996 movie version, after the death of Moreau, his employee, Montgomery, takes on the role of Father to hybrids and wears Dr. Moreau's clothes and mimics his voice. All roads lead to TBL.
There certainly have been many movie and TV adaptations of the Wells' idea. It's interesting that Lambert played Dr. Moreau in an Italian version.

Well, here it is, Thursday night, again. Will I drink the rest of my wine or save it for tomorrow night? Decisions, decisions.

Tuxie, Yes they do love time warp! On my re-watch I noticed that the schedule that he was looking at for the German woman, (can't think of her name right now) was dated May 21 of 2018.
IowaWatcher I do not know what you decided on the wine, but I hope you have some for next weeks double!

That could be true HW. My son is a long time fan of him. He said his voice and evil laugh goes perfect with any bad guy he plays. As soon as I heard that name I thought of that creepy movie. Lol

I think they forget how closely we examine things on this show! I never did figure out the movie on the TV at the beginning. Silhouette of a man in a fedora holding a telephone receiver; woman's hand pulling a pistol out of a drawer. Could be anything and only meant to suggest a film noir atmosphere.

I did a lot of hunting and never found the movie source either. I'm sure it was used just to play up the film noir atmosphere of the first scene.
