Tatiana - I don't have any more ideas for you. My crystal ball looks cloudy rather than clear these days. LOL

All great ideas!
I don't care . . . just so they get back to the spy stuff for awhile. I'd like to see Tom's mom make an appearance and give some closure to several old plot lines.

Tuxie, if you get something clear come in, let us know. Lol
Tatiana, that is what I was alluding to in my above post. I do not know how he is going to be able to move around the criminal world unless it looks like he broke out.
I like the idea of something new, I am sure they could think of some way to pull that off. Would be interesting!
BBB, Red as Harold's assistant? As Honeywest would say, That would be a gas!

*** NOT A SPOILER - BUT CHILLING PREDICTION ***
Red's death sentence is neither commuted or stayed, there is no escape plan to shut down the facility and shoot an exit.
Red is lethally injected but somehow the concoctions have been tampered with - he goes thru the stages of death as he's been instructed to do by the compassionate doctor.
And when all hope is lost and they are taking Red's "lifeless" body to the morgue to be prepped for funeral rites - he comes out of the faked drug inducement and makes an exit.
Dembe and the post office supply another body to be burned for the urn. So the new premise is that Red Reddington has been executed - but he's very much alive - and helping Harold & the team under cover of darkness
They should used the metal bands version of Simon & Garfunkel's "HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND" as the soundtrack to Red's highly improbably revival.
Here's my suggested soundtrack for Red's revival -

I agree. I will be glad to see this over. It was ok for a while and not as bad as I thought it would be, but it has been dragged out a bit long for me. Tom, yes, It would be great to see a few things cleared up.

The perfect song for that BBB! I love it.

I love that version of Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence - but I've got one other song to suggest - and this one deals almost directly with the character of Raymond Reddington. Its Leonard Cohen's "You Want it Darker" recorded shortly before his death.
You want it darker - WE KILL THE FLAME - the flame is Red Reddington . . . .

Yeah, Tatiana, I have been wondering that very same thing. The plot twist won’t be so much saving Red's life, but how it will be done in order to keep the ball rolling with his criminal empire, the Task Force, etc. He said it himself, no matter what else happens he’s dead, inside prison or outside prison. If they plan to maintain the current way of working they need to come up with a plausible way to do it. Red plead guilty in order to shield the Task Force, but there are still people who know about his informant status. Some damage control is called for. Then again, going forward, everything could change into something totally different. They haven’t been afraid to do that before.

This is a good idea! It mirrors what happened to Arvin Sloane on Alias in the third season, when John Eisendrath was a writer/producer for that show. He's also one of the writers of this next episode. Sloan was also sentenced to death and appeared to be dead. But the chemicals for the lethal injection had been switched to chemicals that mimicked death. Then Sloan hid out in Switzerland under a different ID running a humanitarian organization and helping the CIA team take down another evil organization.

Wow! I just listened to We Kill the Flame, BBB, and it's sooooo TBL!
What a discovery, Leonard Cohen is mesmerizing. I have a lot of googling and listening to do.

I actually liked this episode and when TPTB bring back elements from previous episodes to further the storyline. I don't know where it's going, but I appreciate what they are doing. The beetles are creepy and gross with enough ick factor that you never want to see them again, but we're reminded they are out there and can be a force to reckon with!
I don't think I will ever forget the way Red looks at Liz when she tells him she loves him. Stop you in your tracks kind of look!!! For all the bad he is, she's found family in him.
I thought it was a little strange when Liz walked into the viewing room and sat with Dembe. Possible she was working something on her side? This happens right after the doctor or warden in the room pull back the curtain. Maybe Liz' grabs Dembe's hand to let him know it will be okay? I'm drawing my own conclusions.
My heart fluttered when Red confirms Mr. Harold Cooper as a standup citizen, employee, and FRIEND. There is so much behind this that TPTB owe us. Take us into that history! Has there ever been a reason given why Harold was put on this task force? Who made this direction and was Ressler working with Harold before RR turned himself in? Can anyone speak to this?
Finally I have grown to really love when the TPTB set up a heist like situation and having Ressler, Liz, Samar, Aram all working together in the same diner was excellent!!!! They really go a great job of this and giving each person their time to shine.
Finally, I'm curious about Dembe. I only remember seeing him twice. On the plane and at the execution. Possible he's doing more behind the scenes? And maybe he's praying at the execution for his plan to work. He didn't appear to be distraught or on the verge of bursting out in tears...but we haven't heard what Red's final words are either!

Patter - There are many good points in your post. Dembe seems almost too calm, doesn't he?
Cooper showed his loyalty throughout the prison storyline. I'm in the minority, I think, in continuing to believe Cooper does not know who Red really is. I don't think Cooper was in cahoots with Red originally turning himself in, but Red may have prior knowledge of the kind of person Cooper was.
The episode hit all the emotional high notes with all the characters.

You Want it Darker, released just 19 days before Cohen's death in L.A. at age 82 is a wonderfully dark but at the same time optimistic affair. Tremendous body of work including about 12 albums, numerous books of poetry and two or three novels. His live tours were something to behold - working with a female backup singer named Sharon Robinson. You Want it Darker bears such resemblance to Red Reddington - they would be foolish not using it.
One other great Cohen song you may have heard in various incarnations is Hallelujah. My favorite versions are Cohens, KD Langs & Jeff Buckley!
When I really need a good sleep I'll put You Want it Darker on and it works like magic

Tatiana, the local pbs station has been doing their annual spring pledge drive. Don’t know if yours is, but be on the lookout for Leonard Cohen-Tower of Song, the tribute concert after his death. It’s quite good!
Patter, I forget, did we know who paid whatchamacallit to create the beetles? I thought he did it on his own, but clearly someone else has gotten ahold of them.
Agree about Dembe. Although his calm in the face of terrible things is very characteristic.

Honey West - I think the guy in General Shiro created the bug toxin himself, but he sold some of it to the mysterious "man in Cairo," who is linked to Anna McMahon, President Diaz, and Bastien Moreau.
By the way, did you notice the old black and white movie playing on the TV at the beginning of the last episode? It showed a man with a hat's shadow over a window and then a woman's gloved hand reaching for a pistol. Moreau was talking to McMahon, and was sounding strangely like Peter Lorre. Any idea what that old black and white movie was? I did a search on similar images and the dialog Moreau spoke, but I didn't come up with anything. Peter Lorre's character name in The Maltese Falcon was Joel Cairo.

Thanks, Tuxie400! I haven't had time to re-watch any of the episodes this season, so I am relying on what I think I remember from a first viewing. I remember he said he was giving the bugs a chance to fight back, so I wasn't sure if it was his own project or for hire.
I think I may get a chance to watch some tonight, so I will try to look at that movie on the TV to see what it is. A Maltese Falcon connection would be fun. I always loved those era films.

Tuxie, I saw that! I also had noticed that it looked like one of those old lamps we keep seeing in the background.

Eastcoast - Did you notice that little TV looked like something from 80s, or maybe even earlier?

Tuxie, I felt like I was looking at a 50s - 60s movie when it started. I laughed to myself and said, what's this, the twilight zone? Lol
