    Dropping in to say hello

    I hope all of you are having a great summer. I miss you all! The Blacklist has started filming for Season 6, even though we have to wait until January to see it.  There have been a few behind the scenes photos on Aly's site and photos/videos from the actor's social media.

    Honey West - I saw where the west was having torrid temps.  We had an unusual run of four days in the 80s last week, then mid 90s again.  I enjoyed that brief break from the heat.

    Nice to hear from you Tuxie.  Hope your summer is going well.  HoneyWest, stay safe!

    Hope that everyone else is enjoying the summer.  RL continues to be busy for me and I'm not in the city presently, so unable to wander over to check out any of the scenes being filmed this week and last.

    However, once more demonstrating that all roads lead to The Blacklist, here is a link to an article where a suitcase with bones in it was found on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland.   Additionally, the bones appeared to have been burned.  Cape May, anyone?

    Hi lara1 - I missed that post on Aly's site. All roads do lead to the Blacklist.  I thought of it a week ago when that Russian woman with the long, red hair was arrested for spying and infiltrating the NRA.

    I remember a written interview with Jon Bokenkamp in which he was asked if they tried to write stories about real life events and he laughed but said, it is ironic how many things we've written ended up happening. 

    The suitcase of bones and the Red-headed Russian honey trap spy stories this summer? Oh my goodness. I sure hope the final reveal isn't something truly cataclysmic!

    Hope you all are well. The latest theory circulating the boards is that Red has an identical twin. Oh my. I just can't even. I sincerely doubt James Spader would have been terribly interested in such a character. But...

    Tatiana - I'm not sure which theory I like least:  the twin/uncle or the Red is really RR, but the tooth was implanted in the skeleton as an escape plan.

    I would buy the Red is really Red but the tooth was planted theory before I ever fell for the twin theory. I'd probably need anger management therapy if it's twins. 

    Even Aaron Peterson, on of The Blacklist podcasters on Golden Spiral Media said 'Twins are a soap opera trope. It's lazy. At least Redarina would be a brave choice.'

    Then the Prestige theory was brought up. It was a 2006 sci/fi thriller. Have any of you seen it? It's about 'magic' and secrets. And this is one of the promo photos below. Very interesting. I doubt that's what TBL is fashioned after, but now I want to see this movie!

    Oh drat. The image didn't show up. So, it's very similar to the split screen/faces of Red and Liz. In this case it's the faces of three people.

    I haven't been keeping up with all of the theories but I would offer this:  whatever it is, the answer is that it is a complex character.  Stuff below the surface. So if a twin or uncle, there is a twist.  well that's my thought for the day anyway.

    Speaking of twins made me think of something else.  We have spoken a great deal about all the hidden It did cross my mind what if Red had been a hidden child.  I thought I would just add one more thing in to stir the pot! lol

    Hi Eastcoast, that was sort of along the lines with some of my recent thoughts about Red. What if he really doesn’t know his own past? Maybe only parts of it? And he sees Liz as the key to discovering the answers to whatever his questions might be about it. He told her on the container ship that she was his Polaris and his way home. Maybe home referred to his identity and his past? He talked about wanting to be a ship’s captain. Maybe that was a RR memory and not his own.

    Anyway, I haven’t really had much time lately to even think about theories, much less read or research them, so maybe this has been discussed elsewhere on the web by now, but my current thinking is that Red not only has been living the identity of Raymond Reddington, but that he was also given the memories and "life" of Raymond Reddington. Now whether this happened before or after the original was killed I have no idea. But suppose he was basically created to replace RR. Not so much because RR was so important, but as an experiment to see if it could even be done. So this guy, whoever he was, was never intended to regain his former memories, but they started coming back. I wonder just when he realized he was an imposter. I suspect that something like that happened at some point, if this theory holds any water, that is. But I think it’s all a search for his real identity, not just by Liz, but also by himself, as well. And Liz is a key. He has been watching her all her life. He’s obviously very patient. But was Liz also part of the same sort of memory experiment and we have seen that she has had flashes of previous memories too. He told her there were things she would have to discover for herself. Isn’t that what she’s been doing? Of course we see her jump to the wrong conclusions at first, but then she eventually finds her way a little further along. Red says he won’t tell her certain things, but I wonder if that might be because he doesn’t know himself.

    Anyway just some summer musings. I got the Blu-ray on Sunday but haven’t had a chance to watch them yet.

    HW, I have had a few things rolling around and I am going to share one on a new thread.   

    Not really knowing who he is could work.  He sure has a lot of stories. Some people can make them up as they go.  I would love to know what is real and what is not with all of them.  Wouldn't we all!

    Eastcoast - I think Red could very well have been a hidden child.

    Honeywest, It could be he does not know.  We already learned he needed her in the beginning to find the Fulcrum. Maybe there are some other things he needs her for to find the answers to find his way home as he put it. 

    Tuxie, it was just something that crossed my mind since we see it brought up from time to time.  All these hidden kids we talk about, but it might be Red who had been a hidden child. 
    Just a passing thought.
