And NBC now owns 50 percent of the show, so they're more invested in it.

I wonder if all of our tweeting made any difference.
I’ve been checking in all day. That is great news!

I was looking all day too Honeywest. I was so glad when I saw that! I'm sure the tweets and everything else made a difference. I went to a few websites i saw and voted to keep it. I looked at tessa's tumblr for a few mins and she wrote saying that she wouldn't complain so much. I laughed so hard!!

Tuxie, you can sleep tonight!!
Lara, thanks for the post!
That was tense. I figured it would come down to Sony giving NBC more ownership of the show. The networks definitely want more investment in the shows than they used to, especially the broadcast channels because they have so much more competition. I'm just glad we aren't going to be left hanging in perpetuity.

You never know! But I prefer to err on the side of caution and took far too much real life time plaguing the net with my meager pleas to add to the chorus! LOL!

I've known little about the business of television shows, but I now understand how complex original contract was which has lead to incredibly dicey renewals for this show in particular. The important thing is that now that NBC owns 50% of TBL next years negotiations will be cut and dry so that we won't be hanging in suspense in perpetuity, unlike our dearly loved TBL story line...

She sure does keep us entertained
I don't remember which tumblr blogger started the - I beg forgiveness for all my sins against the Blacklist - but it was hilarious. Kind of the 5 stages of grief.

Thanks for posting this Lara. I shared the news in the episode discussion because some folks only check those and not the most recent postings. Figured everyone would want to know the good news :-)

WHAT??????? how do you do 22 weeks starting in January? this is ridiculous. totally insane. If you're going to kill it, then give it a half order early in the season and be done with it all ready.

Tatiana-That’s was me, lol. I was desperate.
I saw it is moving to Fridays and not starting until January. I’ll be glad to not have so many hiatuses. But Friday’s aren’t generally popular spots to stay in though Blue Bloods has been in a Friday time slot for years on CBS and keeps getting renewed. Maybe the Blacklsit can hang out there.

Maybe they are planning a lot of two hour episodes?

I would love a couple of two-hour episodes like we had in Season 4.
Agreed about the 2 hour epsiodes. Those are always good. I think they would have to do a couple of them in order to end the same week as every one else usually does in May. I wonder if they will start production at the same time as usual so they don’t have to be in such a rush to get everything done (until closer to the end, which is always inevitable).

Interesting about the scheduling. I wonder if Midnight, Texas Season 2 is a limited season (ie 10 eps like Season 1). Or, I wonder if one of the TBL stars wanted time to go off and do another project; or maybe it was simply down to the mechanics of scheduling
Jan will be a long wait and it will go into June......I think it will need to have a couple of 2-part eps even with starting Jan 9 it will go into mid-June at least without them assuming no weeks skipped for other programming.

Brittany - that is an interesting point because now they start production at the end of July for a late Sept season premiere. If they are running continuously if they start production in Dec (unlikely anyway given the holidays) that is a very jammed schedule.
I know some other recent series with JNov/Dec/Jan debut dates did start filming in the summer as usual. So I tend to think it may be the same with TBL. It will be interesting though how they handle the seasons as they appear on screen. then again since when is the TBL timeline anything to do with reality (and I think that is on purpose)!

I thought that Midnight Texas was coming back this summer, but I guess it won't be shown until this
fall, and then The Blacklist is going to take over its time slot in January, if I'm reading that correctly.
I don't have a problem with either being on Friday night. I wonder of Agents of Shield will come back
on ABC. That time slot was 9 pm Eastern.
