Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

Superb conclusion to Ian Garvey - John Noble & Anthony took centre stage to start episode but were morphed out. fwiw - I thought actress playing Jennifer hit it OUT OF THE PARK

That was an excellent episode.  I'm curious to see if Garvey survives.

Yes, BBB- Fiona Dourif was excellent talking to Red.

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

I agree that Fiona was fantastic in that scene with Red. She's obviously the real Jennifer.

I was surprised when Liz shot Garvey. When it comes down it, she always chooses Red, and he knows it.

But we did not learn one iota about Red's "origins." I can't say I'm surprised that we didn't get one crumb of new information.

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

I can tell the writers are trying to hint at imposter theory when Garvey told Jennifer that she had been hiding for no reason.  But is that the route they are actually taking?  Jennifer was told she was being protected from Red but was that true?  I’m glad we don’t have any more hiatuses to have to wait to find out.

Everything said about this fantastic episode the fact remains there's a paucity of revelation by writers who dole out details much like Trump compliments the Clintons!

I don't think so. I, too, took it as planting the seeds for the impostor theory, that the bones are those
of the real Raymond Reddington.

However, the larger question remains: are both of the girls daughters of the "real" Raymond Reddington?

In any case, good episode tonight! Worth the wait . . . not a "filler" episode.

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

I need to watch that Garvey/Jennifer convo again.  I caught the part about saying she was in hiding for no reason and something about 30 years.  I wonder if he meant she has been lied to about the reason for being hidden (that Red was a danger to her) or that she hadn’t needed protection all these years (implying that Reddington is dead).   I’m not a fan of imposter theory but I’ll keep watching if that’s the route they go.  But I do think that exchange was meant to put the idea out there, though I wonder if it is their destination.  What does it have to do with Katarina and whatever Red did to her? I guess we only have 3 episodes left to find out!  Thank goodness.

Iowa Watcher - I'm OK if Garvey was planting the seeds for the imposter theory too. My top guess this whole time has been that the real RR was the bones.

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

I loved the little barbs between Jennifer and Liz about  how they would have enjoyed getting to know each other but it’s too late for that.   I’m interested to see how they keep Jennifer involved through the rest of the season (since we know Fiona Dourif has been on set even this week).

Did they say if they got Sinclair?  (The task force) I missed that.

I don't remember them saying if they got Sinclair or not.

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

Great ep, its getting intense!

The parallel of Garvey/Jennifer and Red/Liz reached its height I think when Garvey said to Jennifer that everything she knew about her life for the past 3o years was a lie.  It was similar to what Red said to Liz very early in the series, like ep 1 or 2.

Then Garvey said she never needed to hide.  I wonder if its also going to be the case that Liz never needed to hide.....and whether or not Red ever knew that.   Maybe Liz never needed protection either?

The question is, why did Garvey lie to Jennifer all of these years, and why was he protecting her when she did not need protection.

I feel as though this is going to end up being a double jump as Red is fond of saying.

Anyone catch Red's reaction to Jennifer?  I didn't see paternal love there at all, a bit of a surprise is all.  But then, I wouldn't, LOL cause I never thought she was his daughter......

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

brittany - hmmm, I guess if the real RR is dead, then that is why Jennifer never needed protection.  Maybe Garvey never knew that until the bones showed up.  Maybe that's why he wants "the rest" of the truth from Red.  Or, wanted.  Not sure he survived.

Yes, seeds of imposter theory.  The non-Red and the non-Red daughter.  Maybe.

Best thing about tonite's ep is Paul Blart, Mall Cop (aka Anthony) averted death.

That was some kinda risky mission he worked! lol

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

Well I sort of guessed it - Red had Garvey blamed for something he didn't do but I never envisaged the double jump Red set up!  very good.  Luckily there are so many look alikes in this show!

I wonder if Red will call in another fire bug favor before the finale or does he think he and the arsonist are now squared up?

Re: Episode 5.19 - Ian Garvey: Conclusion - Discussion Page

Yes, lara1, what Garvey said to Jennifer did mirror what Red said to Liz in Episode 2 while she was drinking the Aviation cocktail.

I thought Red just looked confused when Jennifer was talking. I didn't see shock or recognition.

Garvey's lines to Jennifer could be interpreted a variety of different ways. It's trademark Blacklist. Here are some of the possibilities:

1. Garvey protected Jennifer because he thought Red was a threat. He only found out differently after discovering the identity of the bones: the real RR.

2.  He was being sarcastic, as in why would I protect you for 30 years if it wasn't necessary?

3.  He means she's not Jennifer.

4.  He means Raymond Reddington is not her father.

5. He means he's lied to her and has been using her for 30 years.
