Honey west, oh My! It's always insightful to get someone's first hand experience in country.

2. Res says '5 years ago 'in Belgrade' that would have been in 2013.I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Where are you getting Ressler saying five years ago in Belgrade??? Neither Ressler nor Red says anything about years in this espisode. Red says, "all those years ago."
Tuxie, I didn't say Ressler, I said Red, although it looks like my phone changed it to Res.
Just as a reminder, this forum was developed as a lightheaded alternative to other sites. Using ???? Or comments like 'what are you talking' about implies incredulity or rolling eyes and makes the original poster feel as though they should 'know better' and thus, makes them feel badly.
Let's keep this forum kind, polite, and most of all, fun!

Honey West, I agree, I think it was a purposeful 'mistake'. And as is often true for The Blacklist, you never know! One comment can go many ways!

As an example, look at what they did with the simple words "Tommy Markin". That led to the whole Ressler arc with Laurel Hitchin. Did we ever suspect that his story to Reven would lead to his rather unholy alliances and descent into "Red's World"? And none of that would have been possible if Red hadn’t saved his life back there in the Box. Five years ago.

Honey West - yes, Tommy Markin began with Ressler's story of his father, from when Ressler was younger and concludes with his finally finding Reven Wright's body soaking in a barrel of formaldehyde. That was a long arc for Ressler.
I was just reading a post Tessa Bissoli put on her blog and she brings up the name Oleander. How quickly we forget. But that name is significant in the suitcase/duffel bag of bones arc. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Honey West. Good link with Belgrade and Dom. I remember at the time we looked at everything in Dom’s place in a lot of detail and you provided us with lots of Serbian references, particularly the books
I agree there’s a Serbian connection. It was right in the pilot in several places. Zamani as I recall was s Bosnian Serb. The brothers who orchestrated Beth’s abduction were Serbian.
Interesting now that they drop Belgrade back in. Dom is Oleander and is connected to the bones somehow but we don’t know exactly how yet.

Jennifer is named after a 1930s movie actress named Lillian Roth. The German meaning of the name Roth is red haired.

Tuxie400 - thanks! that was all I needed. Red hair. The red haired references are coming fast and furious......even Panabaker made a surprise appearance and she is a shade of redhead also.

HoneyWest - I went to research Belgrade again. I did it way back when but didn't remember much of what I found. One thing I found right away is that Belgrade means "white city".
Which makes me think again of a connection to Dom/suitcase.

I still think he said Belgrade on purpose. There is a Serbian connection going on here. Remember all of those Serbian books at Dom's house , for one thing. Yugoslavia broke up between 1990-92. I spent a couple of days in Belgrade many years ago on the way from Greece to Austria. Tito was still in power but his health wasn’t good. I’ll never forget talking to our Austrian tour guide about how they worried about what would happen in the region when Tito finally died as he was the strongman holding it together. Interesting times. But mainly I remember the rest stop we had between the Greek border and Belgrade along the main highway. Literally a spot with lots of bushes and no facilities. (finally an excuse to use that one! LOL!)
LoL! I have been thinking why is that there and how could that even be used here?

All this talk of red and white reminds me of the human chess game in Alice Through the Looking Glass, referenced several times in the series.

This is fun!... If remember correctly, there were some spoilers showing chess pieces on a paper? Map? And Red standing over them.
My computer is down so I'm handicapped.

Tatiana - yes, I noticed that, and were they oversized chess pieces too - more Alice.
Offline
Tatiana - Yes, I noticed the chess pieces in the preview for the next episode!

Did anyone notice any fire imagery in this last episode? I couldn't think of any. I did find one piece of medical imagery when the Internal Affairs guy told Aram he had a first aid kit in his car.

Oh very Cool! I thought I was imagining it, lol!
Now I have to find those previews.
Something to chew on :-)

If only I knew something about chess....I can put this on the spoiler page, but since we mentioned it here...

You know they say even the best eye-witnesses don't remember things correctly! (I keep that in mind a lot as I get older lol!)

I was thinking about the ransom in this episode being $10 million in diamonds. The last time The Blacklist had a caper involving $10 million in diamonds was in The Harem, when that group opened the episode by stealing just that amount in diamonds. In that episode Liz meets Emma, a woman who seems to have had an eerily similar experience with Red, having been plucked from MI-6 after he makes a deal with Britain's Secret Intelligence Service, MI-6. Some fans thought Emma was Jennifer because her age was right and her hair and clothes were reminiscent of ballerina girl. Liz's objective in going undercover in The Harem was to retrieve the stolen Witsec list. Now we presumably get the real Jennifer, who was put in Witsec by Garvey. Like Emma, Lilly/Jennifer was trying to get away from Reddington. There are interesting parallels going on between Mosadek and The Harem. Liz knew enough not to trust Emma, but will she trust Lilly/Jennifer? Emma double-crossed the Harem and Red. It makes you wonder about Lilly/Emma and what she will do.
