We got the show, we got the comics, now we have the novel! Article and excerpt on Entertainment Weekly.

Looks like the author is tired of the daddy discussion ... from the published excerpt:
"Reddington ignored her. “But I’ll tell you that human beings are marvelously consistent. Underneath, at the base, they always—always —act the same. Their surface behaviors may change, but underneath, we all stay the same. Even I. When I look at you, I can’t see the FBI. I see the daughter of my best friend in her Hello, Kitty pajamas and I see a promise I made. So I do what I need to keep you safe. I’m perfectly consistent that way.”

I personally took it as he was referring to Sam as his best friend.

I thought the same thing. No matter what Red told Kirk, he still considers Sam to be Liz's father. Sam raised her and was a father to her. Which is more than Red ever was for all those years. And Kirk only was for the first four (and Red said he was often not there, either, during that time), which we have to assume were erased from her memories, leaving her to have memories of only Sam as her father.

I certainly hope that's what the author intended ... I bought the book before I read this article, and I'd be really turned off by artistic interpretation like that. We have enough twists on the real show.

Just stopping by quickly as for the holiday I have family staying at my house from various other parts of the country keeping me busy.
I read the EW article for the book and I'd like to vote that "The Bodysnatcher" actually be a real Blacklister on the series itself. that might be cool.
Interesting comments on the "father" thing. As in the series, I think they have left it ambiguous. In order for it to be Red's "best friend" and not Sam would be contradicting (or maybe reinforcing, LOL!) what I think the show producers wanted to set out in 4.08. Then again Red usually doesn't call Sam "your father" when speaking to Liz. He calls him Sam. To be continued…..LOL
