Tatiana - Your commentary makes some insightful observations! I hadn’t thought about Liz becoming the farmer from the Stewmaker parable.Things are out of place and out of time. Time is both real and not real. The hammer falls. The shards fly.
I love the mirror scene from Lady of Shanghai. When I was talking about the mirror scene from Citizen Kane with my husband, the told me about the scene in Shanghai and I found it on Youtube, While the acting is over the top in it, the funhouse mirror scene was amazing.

Thank you, Tuxie. I think I communicate my ideas better when written in full and in context of the whole. My tweets and quick posts can seem odd and eccentric at times!

If you think Blacklist has great musical choices you refugees should check out the choices made in the 103 episodes of Person of Interest. Some amazing musical choices, some international, too!

Tessa has made some very specific observations about how the bones have changed beyond color. She notes:
The bones have gone from having tissue to not.
The ribs are no longer attached to the spine.
The femurs were cut in two, and now they're not.
While the first two things might have happened over time and being jostled about, the third could not.

We can rely on Tessa for her deep detective work! Yes, I thought they were different, not just in a different light.
So friends, why would the bones be different? They knew they would be using those bones this season so there's no logical reason for it. It would have to be part of the story and congruent with all the other so-called mistakes. But that's just how I think. Maybe the whole BL staff are a bunch of bungling neophytes.
I don't think there is anything behind the bones being different except just different props. The show runners don't expect us to be zooming in and freeze framing this stuff. We are just supposed to know there are bones in a bag that are human. They aren't real bones and 99.9 % of the people watching this show wouldn't be qualified to determine anything from them even if they were real. It's not like we see the bones in every episode. If we did, they likely would have invested in their own set or just kept the same set around all the time. We saw them in 4.22, but then they were off for the summer and didn't film again for several months. We saw them in 5.01, 5.02, and 5.08, but then we didn't physically see them again until 5.17. They probably just get whatever bones are available from prop resources since the actual sightings are so far apart.

They could mean absolutely nothing. But they do have Prop Masters for TV Series and Movie sets who are in charge of keeping things as straight as possible. Pete Dancy, Jim Bauer and some others have worked pretty consistently throughout the episodes. The necklace that KR wore looked the same to me and there were some other things too that were consistent.
Just to name one thing, The pictures that we saw in The Artax Network and Mato had the same prop people at the time. They had the pics that Masha drew pretty consistent. I like to look at who is in charge of what in the Art Department. When I see that the same people are in charge of a episode and I see some things are the same and then see something is totally different I have to wonder why.
They seam to have no problem letting us know when they did something different like changing Liz's scar, hair, changing the dog, and other stuff. Until they can tell us why they would go out and buy a new set of bones and not be able to keep one set on their set I think some of us will wonder why. The bag after all does look the same but I could be wrong. Maybe I should take a closer look.

I don't know, although the bones are different, I'm still not entirely convinced it matters. I didn't notice the differences that Tessa noted, only that they looked darker in color and maybe some appeared larger. And as Tuxie mentioned, some of those changes could be from being jostled about and thrown around.
The bones visible in this ep - the glimpse is so brief, and partial, as Garvey zips up the bag. I don't think we're meant to infer anything other than he still has the bones.
There seem to be quite a few disaffected fans out there at the moment and I'm not sure why. There are threads about small things in props which really most people would not even notice. And I don't think you can compare everything in the pilot to what comes later, when they don't even know at that point if the series is going to be picked up or not. For example, they filmed the red box in an entirely different building after the pilot. I don't recall whether the building was no longer available, or they chose another location in NY or what the deal was.
Having said all that, I do think that things are placed strategically, and for a reason, and the larger items are probably connected to the mythology in some way. Some of it is like trying to spot the differences in a highlights puzzle, LOL. But I don't think that every single thing is etched in stone.
So on the bones, there could be a purpose to it. But I tend to think they are just supposed to be a bag of bones jostled around from place to place. So I'm not even sure why they would need to bother to purchase a set of bones rather than rent them as and when needed for an episode. I just can't get worked up about it. Just my two cents, LOL. I'm happy if they have a meaning, or if they don't.

lara1 - You're right about the glimpse of the bone bag being brief. I must have looked away for two seconds and missed it the first time I watched. I think it's strange that Garvey keeps them with him and looks at them occasionally, instead of having them in some hidden safe with armed guards. They didn't have to show us the bones at all. All the fans knew Garvey had them. Why give us a glimpse? Did they really think we had forgotten them - when that's the storyline that goes on and on and on? I think they purposely showed us the amazing changing bones.
Tuxie- I tend to think they wanted us to know that the bag was the one with the bones. It's a basic black duffle bag, so it could contain anything (loads of money, drugs, etc). I wondered if Garvey was preparing to move the bones. Who knows what he does what he does.
One thing that really caught my attention when I got involved in the BL fandom sites on the internet last year was the level of expectations that some fans have of the show. I've found that some people have very high (for some unrealistic) expectations of the show and are the most likely to be disappointed by things on the show, like changes in props or adjustments to story lines. Some of them that I still get glimpses of online are the ones most disappointed with the show at the moment, mainly because they've read too much into things. Stuff in the show has surely adjusted from the beginning since they made big changes like keeping Tom alive and elevated Kaplan's role within the show and the addition of Agnes (which may have still happened eventually, but I think I read at one point that it may have happened sooner than planned because of Megan's RL pregnancy). So it isn't always realistic to take something said or whatever in the very beginning and assume it is still exactly as stated because there may have been adjustments to it given some of the ways things have evolved in the show. I think that the fandom may not be as excited about whatever stuff we learn about Red or the bag or whatever they are saying will shift the dynamics of the show moving forward because we may have already seen it coming because we do pay such close attention or it doesn't fit within our chosen theory or whatever. The shift/change/surprise may be more of that for the casual viewers. I enjoy the fandom, but try to make myself still watch with the same sort of perspective as I did prior to getting into the online fandom. I feel like I've found my balance between viewing and theorizing that works best for me. It doesn't disappoint me much and allows me to enjoy the show and be thankful for it.

The first time we saw the bones I thought they looked child or young adult sized. That could have been a purposeful misdirection or not. I think they have since made them seem to be more adult sized and that’s the only difference I’ve really noticed.
My only disappointment would be if they did turn out for sure to be Katarina because personally I think it would be a more interesting plot twist if she did turn out to be alive after all this time.

Brittany - You may be right that the glimpse inside the duffel was just a reminder that the bones are in that kind of carrying case now. I saw several peole on various Facebook sites and Reddit who forgot they were no longer in a suitcase.
You are right about fan expectations. I remember at the end of Season 4 when some viewers were so disappointed to find out Red's empire building had just been to keep him free and Liz safe. They wanted him to be on some undercover mission, and that just wasn't enough for them.

Honey West- Even though KR being in the suitcase is a distinct possibility and I can be fine with it, I would prefer she be alive because I think there are so many interesting story lines that could come into play with her.
Tuxie- I saw a lot of that disappointment when I was in the FB group for the BL but I left that earlier in the season. I still see some of it on Tumblr and Twitter these days. And I have also seen some people on Twitter or just the main FB page who had forgotten that it was no longer in the suitcase but the duffle bag. We haven't even seen the duffle bag since 5.08 and Liz only mentioned it in 5.16 for the first time.

It would be much more interesting if she were alive, but I can see where it can get crazy if Liz finds out that her mom is in a bag being toted around.

I'll be really surprised if those are KR's bones. I don't see how Garvey having them would give him power
over Red. The only thing that makes sense to me is that they are the original Raymond Reddington's bones.
Time will tell! I just hope tonight's episode is good, not just filler.
