Blacklist and other shows with mythology

It seems TV shows with mythology really get my interest. I started thinking this morning how many things BL has in common with these other shows that were my obsession for awhile: The X-Files, Lost, and Fringe. I decided to make a list of common elements each show had:

X-Files
the kidnapping of a child: Samatha Mulder by either space aliens or a child molester
World of monsters: Aliens and paranormal creatures
a secret child: Fox Mulder was the secret son of Smoking Man
"evil" father - Smoking Man
father who hurt his child: Smoking Man tried to kill his son, Jeffery Spender
a child who must be given up for his/her own protection: William
evil world group: The Alliance
parent who was part of evil world group: William Mulder, Mulder's presumed dad
blocked memories: Mulder underwent hypnosis to try to remember more about Samantha's kidnapping. His memories were wiped by the govt. in Season 1.
doubles of people: clones
people with aliases: Smoking Man and Deep Throat
person not the father who acted as a father to a child: William Mulder to Fox, ultimately Fox to faux son William
unexpected sibling: Jeffery Spender was Mulder's half brother.
person who jumped from a bridge to their death: clone of Samantha mulder
identity transfers: Clones
people who were fake dead: Fox Mulder
Outlandish FBI show

Lost
the kidnapping of a child: Aaron was kidnapped by The Others. Danielle's daughter, Alex, had been kidnapped years earlier.
World of monsters: The Smoke Monster
a secret child: Claire was the secret child of Jack's dad. Aaron was the secret child of Kate.
"evil" father - Kate's father, Locke's father
person not the father who acted as a father to a child: Charlie to Aaron, later Jack to Aaron, Ben to Alex
father who hurt his child: Kate's father tried to molest her. Locke's father conned him out of a kidney and caused his paralysis
a child who must be given up for his/her own protection: Kate took Aaron away from the island to protect him.
evil world group: Charles Widmore's group
parent who was part of evil world group: Charles Widmore
doubles of people: The Smoke monster as Jack's dad, Locke, and Alex
people with aliases: Ben uses the name Henry Gale to infiltrate the Lostie's group
unexpected sibling: Claire was Jack's half sister
identity transfers: Dead people through the Smoke Monster
people who were fake dead: Survivors of Oceanic 815. They had been portrayed to the world as dead.

Fringe
the kidnapping of a child: Walter Bishop kidnapped the alternate version of his son, Peter, from a parallel universe.
World of monsters: human-machine hybrid shapeshifters, fringe science experiments gone wrong
a secret child: Peter was the secret child stolen by Water to replace his son.
"evil" father - at times in the show Water and Walternate were considered evil
person not the father who acted as a father to a child: Walter to the alternate Peter
father who hurt his child: Water psychologically hurt Peter when he was young.
Blocked memories: Olivia had blocked memories of abuse by her stepfather and experimentation as a child by Walter.
a child who must be given up for his/her own protection: Twist on this: Peter's son Henry in the alternate world was erased to protect the Prime World.
evil world group: Massive Dynamic
parent who was part of evil world group: Walter Bishop
doubles of people: Most of the main characters had doppelgangers in the alternate world.
identity transfers: Fauxlivia replaced real Olivia, making Peter believe she was Olivia.
people who were fake dead: Olivia's mother died in the Prime Universe, but was alive in the parallel world.
Outlandish FBI show

Blacklist
the kidnapping of a child: Beth by Zamani in the Pilot, Masha by Red, Susie Baker by the Sandman
World of monsters: Red and criminals the FBI doesn't know about
a secret child: Masha, Wujing, Matthew in Mombassa Cartel
"evil" father - Red? or third man Katarina was fighting with in fire memories, whoever caused Liz's scar
father who hurt his child: Kirk made the comment implying Red had hurt his child
person not the father who acted as a father to a child: Sam, Constantin Rostov, possibly RR
Blocked memories: Liz could not remember her mother or father's faces or her early childhood. Red said he blocked her memories.
a child who must be given up for his/her own protection: Masha/Liz
evil world group: The Cabal

Tuxie400 - thanks for compiling this.  Lots of similarities.  I loved The X-Files and Fringe, but never saw Lost. Not sure why.

lara1 - I think J.J. Abrams, creator of Lost and Fringe, and Bokenkamp were heavily influenced by the X-Files. Lost was a terrific show until the last season or so.

Re: Blacklist and other shows with mythology

Wynonna Earp, a Syfy show, is another series I like with a mythology. It has a lot of similarities to The Blacklist and the other shows with mythology that I first listed.

A kidnapped child - in this case the sister of the main character.
Wynonna as a child accidentally shot and killed her father.
World of monsters: demons
Wynonna becomes part of a law enforcement team called Black Badge
Wynonna is the chosen Earp designated to take down Demons and return them to hell.
She had to give up and hide away her daughter to keep her safe.
The father of her child is questionable.
Identity transfer: Demon Villain Bobo Delray was once Wyatt Earp's devoted meek and mild-manner friend Robert. The witches take on the appearance of Wynonna's high school friend and her sibling.
Wynonna's mother, who the audience thought was dead, turns out to be alive in the Season 2 cliffhanger.
