Didn’t the original Hudson die, thus new dog?

lara1 - I'm surprised you didn't jump all over Janis Ian's At Seventeen being the song Reva was listening to on some sort of device. Why would a present-day teen be listening to that song. It's from my teenage years - out in 1975?  It's a great song with a lot of angst, and one I loved as a teen. In fact, I think I was listening to it in a basement that looked like Tadashi's. LOL

Brittany - Bokenkamp said the original dog died. But there have been three dogs in the show as Hudson, all different sizes, and one that was a whole different breed.

See I didn’t even pay attention to the different dogs because it didn’t mean anything to the story.   I only heard about the changes on the audio commentary lol

I agree! I hope that's not the reason. But, yes, it really does feel like the show runners are losing their way.

I actually think that they have a well constructed path to the end, but this 'shattering' Is so that can reframe the whole picture in the end to some kind of darn, disturbing end.

LOL! Tuxie400! At least they are not Hudson's bones. I think...

I like this season, too. Remember they’ve always said they know exactly where they are going to end up, but that how they get there is fluid and depends on how many seasons they get before they arrive at the end.so characters come and go, some were never meant to be a part of the story for long, like Tom who was supposed to die in the Pilot, and I wonder if Mr. Kaplan was ever intended to have such a major role either. I doubt it. So they’ve gotten to play around with characters and weave them into the plots and they change the direction from time to time. But they have always said they know exactly how it ends.

Honeywest - Hudson's bones!   How much does a dog skull look like a human skull????   LOL

Poor Hudson!

They'll probably bring in a dog one more time, just to annoy us. LOL!

LOL Tuxie400 - I think that was the first comment I wrote on this thread!  that and the upside down vision of the girl in the glass....
Yes, I recognized that song immediately.  It was appropriate "17" but yes, retro!  LOL

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

Oh, I didn't write about the upside-down girl in this thread.  I wrote it in my hand written notes, to be added to upon rewatch.  But there was a 1975 TransAm (a really popular car at the time as I recall), that I did write in the thread comments.

lara1 - I totally missed your comment - #4 - LOL  Where was the girl in the upside down glass?
I missed that too - just like the bones.  Maybe I was suffering from missing time.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

Hey, Tuxie400, no worries, the comment was shorthand and cryptic esp for those who don't know Janis Ian's music.

The upside down girl - was like maybe the first shot of the episode, it was a reflection of Reva, presumably in glass, that the camera photographed, or was edited, upside-down.  At least that's what I got - it was very quick like split second image.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

lara1 - I just went back to the episode and saw the upside down girl. The shot is a reflection of Reva in the glass table top. It went by so quickly I didn't notice it when I first watched the episode.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

The shot of the upside down girl intrigues me. I think there's only been one other upside-down reflection of a character, that being Tom talking to Judge Denner in his chambers in Season 2's Tom Keen episode. Then we had the upside down doll in the Ian Garvey episode. Have there been others? I remember Liz, Aram and Cooper were shown backwards in a mirror in The Apothecary.

Just answering my own question. The relative in Samar's story was her cousin named Yana. Rhymes with Ana though.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

Tessa let me know another upside down mirror scene was Leonard Caul in his namesake episode when he was looking at the stitched slash on his neck. Caul also appears in the previously part of that episode shown with his reflection upside down in the bulb of a chandelier. The image was originally shown in The Deer Hunter episode.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

Someone asked if Brimley had his oxygen tank.  Yes, he did.

Also - another repeat symbol that appears, I think in the fire memories hallway, and I've seen often, are the candelabra type wall sconces.  I kind of stopped looking for them as they are another thing that always seem to be part of the decor somewhere.  I last noted them in the bedroom, by the closet that leads to the attic, in The Travel Agency, and in Pete's apartment, but I think they have been in other episodes since.

anyway, in the hallway outside the apt where Brimley is interrogating the guy, there are those old style candelabra wall sconces.  In a hallway vaguely reminiscent of fire night...it might be the red color on the walls.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

On my TV the amethyst looks blue.  It could just be a very pale amethyst stone, which can look a blue-violet, in that the blue is more pronounced in the very pale purple color.  I love amethyst and have a few pieces that were gifts, and the colors range from a deeper purple to violet to a very pale blue-purple.

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

OK so when I re-watched tonight, yes the bones look different.  To me, in fact, very different.  But what struck me most, other than the color, is the size of them.  the main bones in the picture frame seem much larger to me.  I have no idea if that is the camera angle or what.  Maybe they are having a bit of fun with us!  LOL

Re: Episode 5.17 - Anna-Garcia Duerte - Discussion Page

I really enjoyed the song they played at the very end of the episode, Time Moves Slow.  The Blacklist is one of the television shows that helps expand my music collection, as did Alias and Grey's Anatomy currently still does.
