LOL  Thank God I wasn't eating anything when I read that. I think somebody was taking the Redarina theory a bit too far. Spader has gained weight though, and he has developed a double chin this season.  A lot of people gain weight when they stop smoking.

OMGosh, LOL,  Tuxie, that sounds like me. Glad I was not still eating my crackers because it would have been a problem!
Tatiana, I had not heard that one!

I know a lot of people gain weight and some don't.  I always say it is better to gain a few pounds rather than keep smoking. Bravo to anyone who quits the habit!!

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

I watched his interview on Fallon a while back about his quitting smoking.  He was hilarious.  Yes better to put on a few pounds than continue smoking.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

His Fallon interview was funny, as always, but about a fairly serious subject. He said he had quit about a year ago. Most behind the scenes photos prior to that he always had a cigarette in hand. He also said that he put on a lot of weight the last time he quit smoking, but it sounded to me like that last time he was a lot more miserable about quitting smoking. But he did say something about eating too much, as in "do we have any ice cream?" So I guess he’s not denying himself everything and they joked about the guy who wrote the smoking book writing a diet book. The idea being you read the book, then quit, and it took months to finish reading the itty bitty smoking book. I got the impression that he probably won’t make any big lifestyle changes during production. But Bravo on the quitting smoking! He’s got a fairly young child to be there for.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

Yes, describing his resentment the last time he quit (which lasted for about 10 years!) sounded terrible but his description of reading that book was funny.  I’ve always had the impression that James just wants to be happy in his life and doesn’t care about the pressures to be thin, look or behave a certain way.  that’s the way to live life.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

I've been wondering why Red has been living at the luxury condo since The Informant, when he used to never stay in the same place for more than two nights. He's also been spending quite a bit of time at the Critter Cabin. Then in this episode, I noticed he met with both Samar and Liz at the same place. This was discussed on Tessa and Jen's Keen Mind's Podcast. Tessa thought, and I agree, that Red is trying to be found by the bones keeper. She noted that Red told Tom in the Travel Agency: That killer is likely searching for a way to contact me since, knowing their value, he knows they are most valuable to me. I will allow myself to be found, recover the suitcase, eliminate the man for his troubles, and rebury the body in a place where it will be lost to the sands of time, as originally intended.

Is he in the same place?  I thought it looked like a different apartment.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

Brittany - I went back and looked. The dining room is all that's shown in Raleigh Sinclair, and that may be a new place. The tall white windows on the side look the same as the ones in the Invisible Hand and The Cook. But maybe they are just using the same building and building the sets.  I do believe he was in the same place in The Cook and the Invisible Hand. They both have the tall white windows with gold drapes and a cream colored couch. The Informant was shot in the den with the fireplace and the bookcases. But it had the tall white windows, gold drapes, and a cream colored couch. It may be those elements that made me think he was still in the same place.

In any case, he is spending a lot of time in the Critter Cabin and the Antiques Garage and Bar. I still believe he is trying to be found.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

Oh I agree he is trying to be found.  I just couldn’t tell about his place.

But I imagine he stayed put when Agnes was staying with him.  You can’t move every two days when you have a small child.  They need stability and security.  Being somewhere different constantly would not provide that was well, even when remaining with the same caregiver.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

I finally got a chance to re-watch tonight.  I thought it was a great episode.  The whole blacklister idea was really interesting and original.  A couple of observations:

I think that Liz really looked like KR in the scene with Red in the beginning, when she is wearing the blue sweater.  Also, some of her facial expressions and mannerisms recall KR.

The Blacklister's lair had one of the black metal fences

The masks Sinclair made reminded me of how they used to make death masks -won't know if that's a clue at all about the suitcase boens

Brian Barrett - worked for the department of defense in GREENbelt, Maryland.

digging up all of the bodies of the doubles, reminded me of Kaplan digging up her bodies.  So is the suitcase body a double?

Tuxie400, that tulip floral pattern on the Easter egg you spotted - it reminds me of a pattern we'e seen elsewhere in the show but I can't for the life of me remember where and what.....

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

lara1 - Digging up the dead doubles and the digging up of the bodies in the Invisible Hand both reminded me  of Kaplan unearthing Red's kills. Is the suitcase body a double, or the original?

I was trying to figure out which episode this reminded me of and it reminded me of The Kingmaker.  All the planning and timing.

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

Maybe we're looking at the doopleganger issue the wrong way. What if Red has recruited "The FACE-LIFTER" to replicate some of his enemies - for instance creating a Garvey replicant after burying the real threat Garvey . . . . . also some of his task force including that annoying middle-aged woman with the glasses!

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

Eastcoast - The planning and time is reminiscent of the Kingmaker. The doubles remind me of The Alchemist, and John Noble's forgetful, odd but brilliant character reminded me a little of Dr. Bruce Sanders in the sanitarium.

BBB-that's my personal favorite theory for recruiting Sinclair.  Red's willing to do anything to get Garvey and protect his secret from Liz, so what better than to make a fake Garvey for Liz to chase while Red takes care of the real deal?

BBB - Do you think that annoying older woman with the glasses is the alternate Kaplan?

Tuxie400 - I immediately thought of that when I re-watched.  reminded me a lot of Kaplan.  But it would, LOL

Re: Episode 5.14 - Mr. Raleigh Sinclair III - Discussion Page

Really interesting ideas as to why Red has recruited Sinclair.  And Tuxie400, his similarity to Bruce Sanders intrigued me in an episode heavy with therapy and psychology references.

So, we have a doppleganger maker and an expert arsonist.  Symbolically, they point to the bones being a double, possibly a victim of fire night.  But it may have nothing to do with that, only with what Red is planning.  I wonder if he will recruit another person before the next mini hiatus?
