Re: Redorina?!?!?

"...piping plovers are endangered in Canada, and Cape Breton (site of the Summer Palace) is one of the main breeding grounds for piping plovers. "

Wow, now that is interesting! And drives the Redarina theory even more. Good detail work, Tuxie!

I knew someone would say Raymond Reddington has been to Cape Breton too. But the only time we see him is in the fall after the leaves fall. The plovers start migrating in early September. We know that Katarina and Konstantin spent summers there.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Maybe - though when they filmed those outside scenes for Summer Palace may have been dictated by the filming schedule (ie they filmed it in autumn).  But I get your point.  And that's why my comment about Red had a wink!

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Tuxie, that was a good find.

I took it that he was there whenever Kirk wasn't for at least 4 or so years.  He told Mato he knew the Palace.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

I just thought of the conversation between Dom and Red right after Cape May... Dom seems to think his grief is superior to Red's because Masha is his grandchild. If the Redarina theory is true, Dom would be hard pressed to claim his grief was more profound because he was grandfather as opposed to mother, right?

I'm trying to find the actual dialogue,

"I could tell you how to win a marathon, but you're assuming it's a 26.2 mile race. It's not. It's a 6.2 mile race that begins at mile 20." Raymond Reddington

Re: Redorina?!?!?

I felt like Dom was referring to his pain being worse because he has seemingly lost both his daughter and graanddaughter and that Red appears to be responsible in his mind for what happened to both of them, thus he doesn’t get to claim he hurts the same way.  I guess that could apply to just about anyone if that was the intention.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Tatiana - Dom was saying there was a difference somehow. But I don't think it was because Masha was his granddaughter. I think he was implying it was because he held Red responsible for them being dead to him.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

'Dead to him'.... is there someone else in TBL who's said this?
I'll have to go back and watch that episode. Thanks, Tuxie.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Dead to him - Dom didn't use those words, Tatiana. They're mine. I thought another character had used that  expression recently, but they hadn't. Although the sentiment of the expression was the same.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

I was just watching Monarch Douglas bank and Kaplan refers to Carla as "your wife" more than once to Red when she comes to clean up a scene.  I don't think she would do that if it were Katarina.  She would have said Carla or 'her' I imagine.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Brittany, I saw that about a week ago in a little gif somewhere and was thinking that.  So glad you mentioned it.  I had wondered that also when he told Liz Naomi was his wife when he saw the pictures in the file. He seamed to recognize her right away.

This really is interesting! I am now watching Monarch Douglas Bank and I am really struck with this:

Kaplan comes to clean and tells Red "This business with your wife, this pursuit, is pushing you in places I don't like"

Then Karla is with Berlin and she says, "You've got it all wrong...." to protect my child.

Liz comes to see Red right after that and the first exchange is this:
Liz "Your ex-wife, have you found her?"
Red "Jennifer. What have you learned about Jennifer?"

Both of them, the first thing they ask about is Jennifer.
Then Liz says Jennifer (your daughter) was placed in protective custody with her mother in 1990.

So how does this fit into the storyline? I had dismissed the Jennifer and Karla story, but in a rematch, I'm not so sure.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Tatiana, it is interesting to re-watch.  I know I personally backed that up a few times to watch it.

The other thing that really hit me was when she slapped him sooooo hard! (no pun intended)
She must have felt like she had the right person.  She looked at him really good and then let him have it!

I also wondered if he were KR why would she get her back?

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Tuxie, in your post 90, when Naomi told Liz he wants something from you, I thought it was the Fulcrum when we learned about that.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

There are some people who comment on how Carla tells Liz “he’s not who you think he is” as imposter hints but I took it as maybe he’s not as bad as Liz imagines or expects.  Because she sorts of touches Liz’s knee and says it gently.  Not like a warning, but perhaps that Liz  isnt seeing all of him or can’t see past her own prejudices when it comes to Red.

I’m hoping we hear more about them or at least Jennifer.  Where the heck is she??

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Eastcoast - Liz sure thought for awhile that Red only wanted the fulcrum from her. But it turned out it wasn't just that. Naomi's purpose from a plot standpoint was to plant the seeds of suspicion in Liz and the viewers about Red's motives.

Before this year I always thought Naoimi was RR's real wife. The slap sold it for me back when it first aired. But a lot of fans, including our own dear lara1, have always believed Naomi was a cover wife. Since this weird plot point popped up in the suitcase tale of Pete supposedly married but not, I've now moved to that position about RR. Lena, possibly like Katarina, was led to believe she and Pete couldn't be together in a permanent way because he was married. But Tom found out they weren't.  Naomi and Jennifer could be a fake family, possibly recruited after the fire. If Redarina is true, then this is a very twisted tale. I really can't give you answers about Naomi that wouldn't be purely speculative.

I do know our Red told Zoe D'Antonio, Berlin's daughter, that he only had one child: a daughter. So Jennifer and Liz can't both be his daughters. It seems like another riddle.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

Tuxie - I too had subscribed to the Carla was not really his wife theory, in fact, from the very beginning. However, in rewatching, since Brittany brought up the repeated references to 'your wife' etc., I noticed the same thing she did which is that it seemed quite convincing that they were married.

More importantly, was the daughter references. I don't know what the significance of Jennifer is, but I was struck with the immediacy of concern for Jennifer's safety/well-being by both Carla and Red. It was the first thing each of them asked about.

So I've been rolling that around in my head a bit. It is interesting looking at it all again. But in the end, Redarina may still prevail.

Re: Redorina?!?!?

I have always been convinced she was his wife.  The interactions between them felt genuine like a guilty, ex husband who walked out and an angry ex wife who hates him to a degree for what he did to her life.  They both expressed concern for Jennifer, even if she wasn’t Red’s biological child I believe he cared for her.
