LD Jones 43 and lara1 47 -

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

You may well be correct, Lara!

@ BBB -- I'm giving the showrunners the benefit of the doubt. As I've written, I think their plan is to return the show to the original story arc, whatever they were going to use before MB got pregnant, and that's why some plot threads have disappeared and why the show seems so uneven overall right now. They are both setting up for "Redemption" and returning to the original (or original & IMPROVED -- LOL) story arc.

If they're just yanking our chains, I will be really annoyed.

Off to bed for me! Great comments! I'll check in with you later in the week/weekend.

I did not recognize the police inspector, sorry.

Had to do a bit of research. Indeed, Henri Lubatti is the man who played a European inspector (cop) in a Season 3 episode of Person of Interest (POI, Provenance)..... and he played a similar European cop (Gautier) in tonite's episode. No billing on the imdb or tv.com, yet!

If you have a chance to watch "Provenance" from Person of Interest its really good. But of course, POI is my favourite TV show - OFF ALL FRIGGIN' TIME, so I don't get bored watching them over and over and over again!

Well, I think the writers were letting Harold become one of Red's shoe-leather lackeys. So he's showing far more defiance than he did to Red in earlier seasons. But whenever Red needs something Harold B. Defiant will provide.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

BBB #64 - makes sense.  Harold really went to the "other side" during that whole Kirk arc.  Let Red set up Kirk even though he knew what would happen, etc etc.  Maybe because he empathized with Red, though.

So maybe Harold is trying to be back to the side of the line he was on originally.  He has been increasingly standing up to Red in the past few episodes since the show came back from the break.  And last episode he gave a Red a kind of dressing down over letting Red see Natalie.  this time, it was a plain "NO".

So, There was a plane crash and his father died, but we know he did not die because he is in the previews the spinoff.

So why did he fake his death?

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

A few more random thoughts: what was with Ressler and his brother? It went nowhere. Is there a reason we need to see his softer side?

Also, for Charlotte the Strangler to get the adjoining room, she had to know a) that Red had sent an associate to Monte Carlo, b) who he and his wife were, c) not only the hotel but the room. So there's either a mole in his operation, or his burner phones have been tapped.

Eastcoast - wild thought - to get away from Scottie for some reason.  We shall see!  But I do hope if its not that, that its something equally wild!  The crazier, the better!

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

LD Jones - agree on Ressler.  Unless they are setting up the seeds for something bigger.

Good point on Charlotte.  They needed very specific intel.  Unless the person they are working for (more than one person has suggested Scottie) has this ability....to tap into what Red is doing and provide the intel to Isabella Stone.  We already know that Scottie has this ability.  Maybe someone else does as well, but who we don't know yet....

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

LDJ,

I think the thing with Ressler was for him to be mad and project his anger towards Red as if it was his doing. I looked at it as lighting a fire to get everyone angry towards him.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

So here is an early guess. Since we know dear ole dad is still alive and talks to Tom later, I wonder if the cop get ahold of him and tells him and that is how they see each other later?
Red said he knew his fathers wife, and Susan, did he have an affair with her?  Or is there another man who is his father that Susan had an affair with?  Sounded like a triangle to me...

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

eastcoast #73 - I thought back in season 3 when Scottie described the fight she and Harold had the night that her son went missing, that there might have been a triangle of some sort.  I don't know if it was Red (he said she made his "toes curl") but its possible she had an affair with someone else.

another wild idea (I am full of them tonight, LOL) - how about Kirk?

That guy Tom was watching, I wonder if he is still alive or if he died in  jail....
This is a crazy story! My head is spinning on this one too. I wish they could have done this with Reds story a bit more.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

I am trying to think how Red meant that when he was talking about his mom and dad. He might have been referring to the same person and not someone else. He said he knew his wife, your mother... So I am not sure. This is just one of those episodes that left us with a ton of questions! I am thinking that the spinoff is going to have a nice fast pace to it!!!

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

Another season one flavored episode. But I have to say one of the most intriguing things to me was wondering what exactly Red was fixing in his little workshop. I kept thinking it was a clock mechanism. Cool that it was a gift for Agnes and gave Red the chance to say it wasn't about telling the time, but listening to the birds.

But I did have trouble following some parts. Sure, "Isabella Stone" was very good at what she was doing and was well-played so that you felt how dangerous she was, but I still didn't quite get why Red was so upset about hearing her name last week. He's been targeted before. Berlin. But that was more interesting because he had no idea of who Berlin was or why he was after him. Whoever Stone/Pruitt's boss is, I think it's someone Red knows. I think it would be a better story if we were let in on it a little bit more than we have been. But meanwhile, we have been given some good motivations for Tom going off to do his redemption thing that looks like it's not going to be just a big fight with Liz or something. That was truly creepy where he was watching the video confession of the man who supposedly killed him as a child. And just what does Red know about everything? He obviously doesn't now and never has liked Scottie Hargrave. And he seems to have finally come to terms with Tom's presence in Liz's and Agnes' lives.

Most interesting Red scene was with Dembe telling him about the danger he puts himself in and Red having no response to that, and admitting it.

So there's a storm coming. The hints seem to be it really starting with 4.15, after the Redemption hiatus. Did notice that the promo for next week was very short and really didn't show anything at all. Hmmm.

Re: The Blacklist Episode 4.13 "Isabella Stone" Discussion

Hi Honey West, I hear you about Isabella Stone and I also think that who has hired her is someone that Red knows, or has an idea about.  He still needs to interrogate her though, to find out, and very possibly killed several US marshals to get to her.  Although maybe he knows and just needs to find out from her where the person is, like he got to Hargrave to get to Kirk.

I agree about Berlin, but I also think that Berlin is a hard act to follow as it was so awesome.

Some other thoughts:

I was surprised that Red faltered and was not able to rescue his associate.  Perhaps he underestimated the riskiness of the rescue.  Interesting also that he went in person to do this, rather than just sending in his team.  I guess it demonstrated Red's loyalty to those who are loyal to him.  And now he also has another major operations manager deficit.

Interesting that we had two episodes in a row with a sort of "soul mate" theme or reference and we hear that Red likes to listen to cuckoo clocks, which (cuckoos) are a symbol of unrequited love in some cultures.  Whether that's why it was in the episode I don't know, it might be there for another reason - there is birdsong, and maybe they are getting back to another theme in Season one - all of the references to birds and birdsong....

I did love that scene when Red, Dembe and Baz set up the car theft scam!  LOL!
