Wild thought - wonder if this retired cop (detective) has a connection to the cop who shows up in Cape May.....as in.....Red was involved in Tom's kidnapping/disappearance......maybe.....we think the cop was real....but was he...or was he in the story anyway to make that connection to Red.....hmmmm

Very nice story about Red in the Congolese jungle - brought tears to my eyes. Spader delivers a story perhaps like no one else!

so - is Tom not really Christopher Hargarve, or was the boy that guy murdered another boy - a "fake" Christopher hargrave?   hmmmmm
