lara1 - What did happen to the old war and the map of doom? I wonder if TBL will ever get back to that.

Liz assumes Red killed Emma. I'm thinking he really did set her up in Vermont. He often doesn't bother to justify or explain himself to Liz.

Regarding the old war and map of doom...didn't he say the Cabal was planning something for 2017? Maybe real life got too close for comfort for the producers, and they want to give us escapism; not what's actually on the news...

LD Jones - I just thought of something - the "Elise le blanc" ballet school program that Red had was dated but no location was listed, as far as I can recall. so, that school could literally be anywhere......I'd assumed it was somewhere around Maryland/DC but there is nothing that said that. With Dom's reference to nappies and other English phrases (the "flat" for example) we've heard in the series, along now with Red's MI-6 arrangement, more clues that Red spent time in England?
Or both things to add in the "Red is not Red' column as he couldn't have been in all those places at the times he would have had to be......
Offline
LD Jones - I don't think he killed Emma, just tucked her out of the way in Vermont. I think that's the fourth time he has done that... Maybe Naomi is up in Vermont too (just kidding!)
I don't think he bothered correcting Liz as that was overshadowed by Liz's comment on Kaplan. Red had to be shocked by that, and any comment on Emma might have been pointless at that point -
Emma betrayed Red, but she didn't really betray him to someone else, or steal something from him, she just stole something that he could not let her keep. But still, he couldn't trust her any longer.....though for a second there I had shades of Newton Phillips thinking something WAS going to happen to her "You should have come to me"....
The interesting thing for me is now we have seen Red reacting to this "betrayal" in a different way. has he learned from Kate?
Also did you notice how he slipped and said "Kate" to Liz and then immediately corrected himself with "Mr Kaplan"

Lara1 I think you're right about Red learning from Mr. Kaplan. He not only let Emma go and gave her a cabin, he said he'd take care of her son's education - again looking out for the children. Maybe the son is partly why Red let her live - like how he let Tom live because of Agnes.

That was the first thought that came in my mind too!

This has really been bothering me too. I can see her as an Agent, but the undercover is a bit out there. But... this is TV land and it's in the script!

LD Jones - good point about the Cabal and map of doom. Would be neat if Red's latest enemy is someone who was already on the show - a Cabal or Shell Island member.
Maybe Madelyn Pratt is trying to get Red's attention again. After all, Valentine's Day is only weeks away :-)

LOL!
its not clear if the person who sabotaged the payment (by murdering Red's guy) is the same as the person who stepped in and bought the cruise line. I don't think so though - didn't Red say that "someone" is trying to start a war.....
Also re the old enemies, I was thinking about this today - didn't Red imply in Season 3 that there was more than one enemy coming after Liz? was that Kirk all of the time? Red doesn't seem so concerned about her day to day any longer....even when she did not make contact with theFBI in this episode, he seemed confident that she would.
or maybe this is just his "backing out' letting her breathe. I guess it does depend though on whether there is still a real "Liz enemy" out there.....

Eastcoast - that did bother me too, at the beginning. But as you, I just resigned myself that this is TV, and this is where they are going. At the end of the day I thought it was a really good episode so there we are.....We will have to suspend disbelief! after a few episodes maybe it won't even bother me any more....LOL

Wouldn't it be great to see Maddie again? She does like to show up around Valentine's Day.

Tuxie400 - actually this episode reminded me a little of Maddie - Liz and Maddie planning the "robbery"......but yeah I wonder what Maddie is up to these days??

Colleen, #29 LOL, that was a good one!!
lara1,
I sure hope Red has learned. He did seam a bit emotional.
Once he gets ahold of himself I a wondering if he is going to ponder over what else Dembe might say
to her that HE thinks is important for Liz to know. That was Kaplan's mistake.
On the other hand, I would have thought she would have figured that out on her own by now.
Uh, speaking of those things, I have been thinking about the good Dr. all week. If he did let him live before, it was before he Knew he had been lied to and betrayed. I am thinking if he would kill Kaplan then it is nothing for him to kill him too. But possibly given her reaction and seeing how hurt she was he might not? Not sure about it?

BRILLIANT - BRAVO - BRAVO - BRAVO - IMMO
A wonderful mix of The Avengers meets Charlies Angels meets The Mean Girls.
Easily Megan Boone's finest moments - great performances by all The Mean Girls especially Emma Knightley (the woman who played her) with substantial but toned-down performance by Spader.
Not the hugest fan of Jill Hennessey (who played Harem's lead mean girl) but she toned down her usual southernly accented, bubble-gum chewing persona.
Great all around work - w/ Megan and the British Lady emerging as stars. Amazing touch vis a vis Mr. Kaplan's sister!
I think this is the episode we were all waiting for. Golden Globe for M. Boone!

Tuxie400 - Wow I never noticed the episodes' air dates, but you're right! That can't be a coincidence, can it?

Eastocast - yeah, we haven't seen Dr. Nik for a long time now. then again, we haven't seen Red's ICU assembled for any reason and kaplan coordinates that......hmmm
I thought the same thing about Dembe....he told Liz because he thought she should know. Red says, "I understand."
I didn't really get Red's meaning though - does he really understand? Why did Dembe think she should know (from Red's perspective?). From DEmbe's perspective he is worried about Red. But what is Red's take on why Dembe thought she should know? Maybe Red is in more inner turmoil than we know over Kaplan.
It does seem less likely now though that Red knows that Kaplan is alive. Or maybe he does? He didn't really address Liz's comment. Maybe he felt that there was nothing he could say that would make it better, make it undone....
BUT the interesting thing though is he starts that story with liz thinking that he killed Emma....and that he killed Kaplan...whereas he did not kill Emma and did not say anything.....whereas.....maybe - he did not kill Kaplan and did not say anything! LOL round in circles we can go again!!!!

BBB- agree. in particular I think Liz was very well written in this episode and Megan stepped up to the plate. good performances all around, the actors made a very good ensemble as well.

First time I believe an outside ensemble kinda ran the show! I liked it very much - real confidence-builder for Ms. Boone, too!

interesting about the MI6 woman....her story sounds a bit like Liz's........low level operative in MI6, Red cuts a deal with them.....although she leaves to work for him full time. Interesting.......
I think this just strengthens the idea of Red still being "the spy who didn't come in from the cold."
