Oh good! I hadn't had time to check the talk show listings for next week yet. Thanks for posting!

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

GREAT NEWS! James is always a superb guest wherever he pops up. I think he's learned not to hand Fallon a copy of his favourite book (Up in the Old Hotel by Mitchell) because he found out Fallon can't (or doesn't) read books.

Fallon is not the ideal interviewer for a guy with Spader's intellectual skill set. David Letterman - or even Charlie Rose would have been better. Hopefully, Fallon doesn't revert to an "Ellen DeGeneres type interview" w/ Spader - ie. one with lots of games, people jumping out of boxes, etc. Ellen has pre=determined most Hollywood personalities are actually poor interviews so she has to take them on a bit of a wild ride where questions are the least priority.

Spader is pretty much the only TBL cast member who has the gravitas to be a featured interview on national evening shows (CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, CNN, etc.). The others are either not well known or just can't bring the necessary good for interviews. Spader can. Undoubtedly.

I'd like to see Susan Blomaert on Ellen or Mozhan and Arison on Live with Kelly - but I don't think that happens anytime soon.

Triple B, he is probably contractually obligated to do show promo stuff.

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

BBB - I have no idea how these things work really, but I wonder if Fallon is a choice because he's the pre-eminent late night talk show host on NBC, hence, cross-promotion of two of NBC's shows; while also possibly drawing in to The Blacklist a sought after demographic that follows Fallon's show.  Just an idea,  it could be far simpler than that - LOL

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon will be a good venue for promoting TBL. He's certainly very popular, so any exposure will be good

Fallon is NBC showcase evening show. And of course, TBL is NBC. But networks allow top drama talent to cross over because its GOOD FOR BUSINESS.

Fallon caters to a slightly less intelligent demographic than Stephen Colbert - and the later CBS show w/ James Corden sometimes borders on brilliant. Megan tried her hand at morning TV w/ Kelly Ripa but was given fairly short shrift even though she did quite well.

So cross pollination on the talk show trail is important. Person of Interest got virtually nothing during its 103 episode 5 year run. Michael Emerson was on Arsenio Hall, Caviezel did The View and Sarah Shahi was on with Elmer Ferguson. Amy Acker - the most unique actor on that show rarely was spotted on a talk show - while Taraji P. Henson only started doing talk shows after she quit POI to do Empire, got a ton of movie offers and now can't stay away from the talk circuit.

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

Well, I still think they will go for the magic 100 episodes. At the very least they would need a thirteen episode fifth season to get to that number.

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

That clip was great acting, but I did Not find that very encouraging....
I hope this is not the last season. There is a lot for them to cover before it ends!

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

hi neastcoast, I thought that was an intense scene they showed.   Its hard to tell because its a short clip out of context, but Red seemed a bit unbalanced to me.... like he is losing it slightly....paranoid??v

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

so now i am wondering.....what if something really unexpected happens, like Red has a kind of breakdown.  Not sure they would do that though, or where that kind of plot line would take us......

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

That is what I was thinking. That he a bit off his game. Lost in his thoughts or guilt maybe?

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

I was thinking that he looked like he was going to have a breakdown after Liz left finding out about Kaplan.
He really does take a beating sometimes, but I don't think he gave enough thought to what this would do to Liz. The guilt it would make her feel.

Eastcoast - I agree.  I think at the time he was so blinded by rage and tunnel vision, all he could do was think of getting Agnes back and the danger he felt Kaplan had put her in, and avenging Kirk in some way......I don't think he was thinking things out strategically on any level, he was reacting......

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

Eastcoast and lara1 - I found the clip ominous too. He feels death all around him, or maybe the echoes of the past. Spooky. Red is in a dark, dark place, and it looks like it's going to get even darker.

I think he has acted a little spooked  ever since he saw that painting.

Re: James Spader on Jimmy Fallon

yes I think they are leading up to something very dramatic.  Red is maybe going to be pushed to do something or pushes himself to do it.  Again I think its hard to conclude from a short clip but to me he appeared to be losing it.  So does he do something totally crazy (as in, something we can't even imagine would happen) or off the wall (even for him) where Dembe/Liz others have to stop him - I mean something totally crazy like a shooting rampage or even self-harming.  .  I guess we'll have to wait to gauge it better from the rest of his behavior in that episode.

But I do think whatever it is will be intense.....

Eastcoast thats an interesting observation.  Especially given his comments in that clip of ghosts from the past....whose ghosts/s (I'm sure there are many) and does he mean they literally are coming back to haunt him (as in live people coming back to get him or something)
