Thanks for starting the thread, HW! What was your snack? Mine was fresh strawberries on a small slice of pound cake. They weren't as sweet as June berries, but I was happy to have them!
Not sure what to think about tonight's show. I'll have to get used to Aram being in charge. He is the logical one to do so with Ressler's on-going drug problem. That role may provide some of the dramatic tension that has been missing. I'll give it a chance. But I thought that the chemistry was still really off tonight.
Panabaker! Deals with the devil. That was the most interesting part of the show for me. She's just getting
in deeper and deeper.
It was not a bad show by any means, but the pacing seemed off, like maybe something got cut. Yes, I can see that they are setting up some future scenes.
The show is still missing the spy element. There's the big bad *something* (Cabal?) but it doesn't seem all that dramatic right now. I dunno. Maybe I'm too tired. It was another really long week.
Eastcoast, what was on your plate?

I didn’t have a snack, IW, I was still eating a late dinner after watching a baseball game.
Aram is almost too honest and by the book to run the task force. Red had to go around him instead of with him. I liked Aram telling Cooper he would really be in charge and he’d pretend to boss him around.
I was surprised that Panabaker was surprised at Red’s recording of his blackmail tape. She had to know he would do that. And use it if he had to.
That’s another person Red has let off and not just killed them. Old Red would have dropped her out of the plane.
I’m still not sure what game Lou is playing. Self-preservation or does he work for the Cabal? In any case I would bet that someone "persuaded" him to turn on Harold. I expected the camera to pull back after Harold left and him to say okay you got what you wanted.
Hopefully we’ll get to the spy stuff pretty soon!

Basically, this was an interior TBL - an episode totally shot as if it was a stage production.
The dialog in the show was the 1st star - Reddington dialog has never been more exquisite and last nite Spader delivered near Shakespearean lines as only James can.
The actress playing the black-lister was also outstanding - she went toe-to-toe with Red and nearly got the upper hand. When I looked her up later I had no idea just how accomplished an actress she actually was.
Harold delivered another stand-up performance but tied for 3rd star by Aram - who is written to be a combination of Barney Fife & Clint Eastwood. Now, thats a challenge for the best of thespians!
For the first time, Senator Panabaker was not amongst the 3 stars. She was very good, as she most always is but tonite exposed her weaknesses. Red now owns her.
Special shout-out to Diany Rodriguez who has worked hard as Red's body-guard/confidant/White Dembe. With Weeja - the less words the stronger the character becomes. That would never work with Aram or Reddington. Their characters are built on extended spoonfulls of words, phrases, expressions & explanations.
At this point - Spader's Reddington is almost a human subtext machine which is the inverse of what he was when we first were exposed to his character.
Thanks for listening to my long diatribe - if you managed to weave your way thru. I may have come down with a bad case of R.R.D - aka Red Reddington's Disease . . . ! ! ! lol

That's pretty right-on, Triple B!
