Episode 8.06 - The Wellstone Agency

Well, this is the tribute to Clark Middleton episode. It's listed as being another Liz-less story, but also promises to be a lot lighter than what we've had so far this season. Judging from the clips I have seen, it looks like it will be a fun, fitting tribute to Glen.

As usual, you will all see it hours before we do out here on the West Coast, and I will try my best to steer clear of spoilers before then! I've got a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar for the occasion. Enjoy!

Thanks for thread, HW!

Eastcoast, I haven't been to the grocery store -- too cold! (as in -4 and below cold). Tonight's snack is a small can of ginger ale and a large bowl of popcorn with real butter. I'm going to go make that in a minute. What are you having?

Clark Middleton, No. 1

What a beautiful and unexpectedly lengthy tribute to Mr. Middleton.

After our horrific 2020 it was as superb as off-the-cuff acting, unexpected journies can bring to us.

Why am I fuggan crying like a baby?

Glen was one of us. He was all of us.

The best of us. The worst of us.

Reddington said it better than I

I'm just a hobo on a board . . . .

Such a nice touch to have Huey Lewis guest star . . . ! ! !

The Statue of Liberty was a beautiful and totally expected afterthought.

I couldn't have said it any better myself, Big Badd Bazzer.

Jellybean's always been my favorite, beside Red (although Red's crew is always my favorite on the show). If I have to pick someone from the other end, it's Aram.

Aww, that was a nice Glen tribute. And I thought Huey Lewis did a great job, too. And then there was the Aram story. Love it when they give him so much to do. Even if he couldn’t get into the drive.

I thought the show was excellent! It was an excellent tribute to Clark Middleton and the character we loved as Glen. The actress they picked as Paula was perfect as Glen's mom., and the eulogies by Huey Lewis and Red were very touching.  I was surprised Red's didn't include the word loyal. I think what cracked me up the most was hearing Paula call Dembe "Bill."  also enjoyed Aram and Alina's storylines.

LOL! Yes! Bill and Steve.

I think they do a great job of keeping the show set in its alternative universe. It's a fine balance to have fictional politicians and real life musical artists, to reference real history, and also to make up their own stories within that history. It allows them to ignore COVID while at the same time bringing in people like Huey Lewis and John Waters. Well done!

Re: Episode 8.06 - The Wellstone Agency

Huey Lewis was a stunningly good guest star.
His nonchalance with Steve (Spader/Red) breaching his security was pitch perfect.
Showing up at the DUV to eulogize Glen was a clear demonstration of what incredible power the mere mention of Red Reddington does to people - even self-reliant musical millionaires like Huey Lewis.
Once he realized he was dealing with Reddington he snapped to attention and scrambled to attended Glen's farewell service. He also made it his point to incorporate many of the things he actually remembered Red's "Steve" telling him about Glen.
I can't remember a fictional character who was only in a baker's dozen of a prime TV drama's episodes receiving such a glorious double eulogy. It was so well-deserved.

Spader showed us how much a man can be missed even if he's not the perfect design of civility in today's society.

We will all miss Clark Middleton's Glen. So very much. . . ! ! !

Re: Episode 8.06 - The Wellstone Agency

There were only two things I'd have liked to see:

1) Trudy

2) Instead of Steve and Bill, ALAN and DENNY (the latter almost sounds like Dembe!)
