Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I hope I read the episode list correctly! Hope everyone is well. Buckle up. The previews look intense.

Eastcoast, it's homemade rocky road ice cream for me tonight. What's your treat?

Interesting stand-alone episode tonight! No problems following this story.

Yum! I love Lorna Doones, Eastcoast.

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

The Brothers Ressler was a good stand alone episode which picked up intensity when Liz stepped into the breach and solved all their family problems.

Not much of a plot - just a good fun 45 minutes establishing Ressler & Liz as "Blacklist Besties"

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I don't understand how Liz can fix all of the  Brothers Ressler's  problems while she always seems to create a big mess for the rest of the Task Force and Red to clean up!

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I enjoyed it overall.  I think we knew Liz was going to get that body out of the trunk.

I not only thought she summed up her life rather well at the end, but she did a great job doing it!

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I had time to read several articles. Is next week the last episode for awhile? Maybe this season? It sounds like production in general won't be restarting for months. I understand! I'm just wondering.

Out where I am, things look normal on the surface: the farmers are planting crops. The farmers markets, especially the smaller ones, are starting this weekend, and in a lot of the smaller towns, many small businesses, including barbers, are open. It's only when one visits the grocery stores and sees the holes in inventory that one realizes there's a problem. Ice cream is still in short supply, but heavy cream is available. Meat quantities are limited but it's available. Packaged yeast is nowhere to be found, but we've been passing around jars of starter free to anyone who needs it. Most of the cooks in my neighborhood are baking bread and rolls, which are in short supply in the stores. We're getting by.

If I had a working transporter, I'd trade you some homemade ice cream for a few of those! Yum!

IW,

The last episode is on the 15th. It is supposed to be a double.

It is nice that you have starter to pass around.  I like the old fashion beer bread recipe!  Quick n easy.

OK. Thanks, Eastcoast. I marked my calendar.
Red, maybe Liz will be making fewer messes for the task force here on in.

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

Lost in the major cast usage - no Harry Lennix, no Aram Arison, no Spader, no Dembe, no Agent Park was the outstanding guest starring performances by the two young men who played the Ressler Brothers minus 20-25 yrs. They were absolutely outstanding young actors - hope they can make their way thru the nasty mess of Covid19 which must be restricting auditions and short to mid-length casting.
HANG IN THEIR GUYS! HANG IN THERE!

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I sort of wondered if we were going to see Tommy Markam in the flashbacks. Was pleasantly surprised that he was the body. I liked the episode. Nice to see an episode without a Blacklister and I didn’t miss the post Office, Red or Dembe all that much. We needed that Ressler story and it was finally good to get it. They needed Liz and I think we may see more with them since they share so many secrets these days. I really liked Liz's assessment of her life at the end. Well done and well written.

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I didn't like the episode all that much. Although I like it when the Blacklist focusses on the characters' backstories, this is done much better in episodes with a regular blacklister (i.e. the Judge, Mako Tanida, the Scimitar, Zal bin Hasaan, the Capricorn Killer, Twamie Ullulaq). While this episode was quite entertaining, I just feel like it takes the flow out of this season and it could have been better if the task force and Red were involved.

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

I enjoyed this episode, and like Iowa Watcher said there was no trouble following this onel. I really don't need Blacklisters anymore, and I didn't miss the missing players. I thought it was quite surprising that the young Ressler wasn't a Boy Scout.  His brother seemed to play that role in their youth. But the death of Ressler's father was the pivotal moment in his life. It set him on the path to be like their dad and always do the right thing. Ressler's back story was a long time coming, and I think the writers did an excellent job with it.

I wonder if that plot of someone thinking they shot and killed someone when they didn't actually kill the person is foreshadowing what really happened on Liz's fire night.

I thought the end with Liz taking care of the body was very much like what Red would do for one of the task force members. She's become more and more like him over the course of the series.  Like Red, she did it for selfish reasons.

It's interesting to know Liz sees herself as a marionette who's strings are being pulled by a sociopath.  She just doesn't know Fakerina is the sociopath who's doing that. LOL

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

Yeti,
I am ok either way as long as it can keep my interest.  Looks like a full cast next week.  :-)

Tuxie,
I was thinking the same thing.  There are so many parallels in this show.  It is hard not to see a connection with something like that.
Now we have Liz, Donald and Parks who have had a hand in death as children.  All tied to their parents.

I think we might see another side of Donald now that this burden is off his shoulders.   He also knows that someone else knows he wasn't Mr. perfect.

So, if miss creepy has Dembe, does that mean the man he has trusted betrayed him to KR?

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

Editor Orlando Machado, Jr. tweeted last night
"Tonight’s episode is the last that was shot in its entirety but won’t be the last to air (2 more). It’s also the one I cut from home due to quarantine...

Really great work from @maheshpailoor , @DKlattenhoff , + cast (terrific guest cast!) & crew!

#TheBlacklist @NBCBlacklist"

So that was the last one actually completed filming.

EC I’m not sure the imam betrayed him. I think they probably approached Dembe and told him they were holding him and he’d better cooperate to save him. So Dembe might have been "kidnapped" willingly.

Re: Episode 7.17 - Brothers

Honey West - The episodes were aired out of order. Originally Brothers was supposed to be the 18th episode. The one next week was fully shot. It's only 19 that finished through some kind of magic.

Just going by what the editor said. I figure he knows. Unless he is mistaken?
