Here we go!
Iowawatcher, what are you snacking on?

Hi, Eastcoast! I made a half-batch of strawberry Jell-O with some thawed frozen mixed berries and a little homemade whipped cream on top. What was on your plate?
Not sure what I think of tonight's show. The best part was the last four minutes. I won't spoil it if there are some who haven't seen it.
I'm fine and working at home. I hope that everyone else is well!

at least Teddy did his job. Wonder how he cracked that tough-eyed, black muscle-girl with Parcheesi & Scrabble? One can always wonder???
As for Liz - not quite on Red's side - YET -- - - - that;s what supposed to keep the show going.
Heddy didn't have as good a go this week as Glenn had last week!
Red taking the law into his hands vs. the cheap mass gun manufacturer was straight out of the left-wing writer's room!

I don't know about Parchesi, but as for Scrabble, maybe he left her with the J, X, Q, and Z... and absolutely no place to use any of them!

"The real breakthrough actually happened during Oregon Trail, and then there was such a great feeling of comfort and familiarity during Chutes and Ladders, a real sense of nostalgia!"

BBB,
I was wondering myself about the games.
It was nice to see him and Heddy.
Redismycopilot,
That's funny. Maybe he was spelling out what he was going to do to her.
The look on Reds face was great at the end. If he could just be honest with her...

Didn't we see Ted and Dembe playing Oregon Trail one time?

The Gordon Kemp episode was just so-so. It was a nice opportunity to showcase Red's caring about the convenience store worker and her mother. I'm so glad they aired Rassvet instead of Kuwait tonight! Dennehy had so much screen time, and it was the last truly great episode of BL - so much better than anything this season.

Ah yes, back to Red as judge, jury, and executioner. I guess we haven’t really seen him do that for awhile.
One of their morality plays. But that’s okay, it got to set up another episode of who's side is Liz on anyway?
I had actually sort of forgotten that Liz was still pretending to believe that Red was Ilya. And I think this was our reminder of that, because with all of the other stuff that’s happened, it’s easy to forget that even though Liz knows who Ilya is, that Red didn’t know that she knew. But now he knows and she doesn’t know that he knows.
I figured it was Liz that was spying on Ilya with that PI she hired. Too soon to bring Katarina back into the story. They’ll be saving her for something big later on. Maybe even next season. Poor Ilya! Katarina really messed him up. Does his wife know the whole story? Not just of the thing with Katarina, but also how he knows Red? I found it interesting that she seems to know something but still calls Ilya Frank.
Nice to see Teddy and Heddy.
Liz isn’t winning any trust points with anyone. But at least Harold seems to understand her.
I need to rewatch the beginning since I wasn’t quite settled into tv yet. Was that a retirement part they were going to? With Cher as the entertainment?
It was nice to see Rassvet as the second hour. I’m not sure what exactly they plan to do with Dom for the finale, but Brian Dennehy will be missed. I was really hoping we’d get to see him with Agnes and maybe get some sort of resolution of issues with Katarina. But, as with real life, you can’t always get what you want.

I guess Aram-BO has had his day in the sun. He mighta had 1 and a half lines of dialog last nite; the writers really suppressing him after than "go everywhere but nowhere" arc with Elodie the Killer Melody!
The brutal killing of the number, Gordon Kemp was a reminder about who Red Reddington is - I think it was more a reminder to Red, actually who may have thought he was going soft, doing H & R in the post office with Aram, Lizzy, Harold, Melinda May Park, etc.

Yes, Red the avenger executioner was back. And it's been a long time since we've seen him in a tux. I enjoyed that in the opening scene, and Dembe looked very spiffy too, It was hard to believe Red was going to buy liquor from a convenience store.
As for sides, Red knows there are no sides, only players. What is Liz hoping to find out by having Ilya surveilled? Does she not know for certain that he IS Illya?
I found it interesting that in Illya's jumbled mind twist as he recalled Fakerina scrambling his brains, we saw a flash of Lotte's Katarina.

I know the original plan was to air Kuwait in the second hour, but I think it worked out better to air Rassvet. It melded better with the appearance of Ilya today and Ilya yesterday. And reminded us of the brilliant casting of the two Ilyas.
My favorite thing last night was Red finding out that Liz knows he is not Ilya contrasted with the scene at the end of Rassvet where she flew clear around the world to tell him that she knew he was Ilya Koslov because Dom told her the story. The look on his face was priceless. Both times. I'm sure there were elements of truth that Dom used to spin his fairy tale for Liz, but we do have to remind ourselves that emotions and actions ascribed to Katarina are all either fabricated or interpreted by Dom, the same way that the Katarina of Cape May is Red's interpretation of opium-inspired dreams/memories of her. How could he know what she said about "not that he died, but what was said before he died..." unless he was there, too. In Dom's story, Raymond died in Katarina's arms. Liz died right in front of Red. Red witnessed Katarina get gunned down. Katarina drowned herself but nobody saw her do it. Clearly, if you want to convincingly fake your death, it needs to be witnessed, preferably by the person who probably cares the most.
Tuxie, I think Liz was having Ilya surveilled because she wants to know why Katarina was after him, and what does he know that she would go to such great lengths with her memory quack doctor to try to get out of him. Sort of like she probably secretly wants to know why Red didn't deny being Ilya, when here is Ilya who is clearly not Red. She keeps saying she doesn't care who he really is, just the fact that he's there for her and Agnes is enough. But I don't believe her.

The end reminded me so much of him killing the guy he felt was responsible for Josephine. He didn't beat her, but he was guilty of making the arrangement that led to it.

Good parallel! I didn't think of that one.

Honey West - I think Liz does have real feelings for Red that he's her family. But she really wants to sort things out to know who he really is and why he really came into her life. As for surveilling Ilya, the P.I. isn't really getting much since Ilya is still sort of bonkers. Liz already knew Ilya is now known as Frank Bloom. It seems to me she chould could have just tracked him down on her own and confronted him. I'm not sure why she needed the P.I.

Red as judge and executioner goes way back to people like Floriana Campo, Geoff Perl, Diane Fowler, the guy that attacked Liz in the parking lot, and more that I can’t think of at the moment. And of course as he told dream Katarina, "only those who deserved it".
They clearly still don’t want us to get too comfortable with Red.

Tuxie I think maybe she used the PI to try to disguise that it was her that was gathering information, plus, we know that if Red was helping him hide, he’s pretty good at making people disappear. Even the FBI guy couldn’t find him. I suspect that he’s probably not using the name Frank Bloom right now either. But his wife would still call him Frank, just like Red still calls him Ilya.
