Very good so far. Red vs. a fresh pack of guest stars!

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

That opening sequence had me hopeful for a good locked-in mystery. But WAAAAY too many commecials and not nearly enough story. It seemed more like fluff.  That line when the person behind it all  was great though, but as I've said... not nearly enough to leave me satisfied  like Cape May.

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

Obviously they needed to put out a Red-Centric episode - AND THEY DID.

Joely Richardson was one of the best guest-stars they've ever deployed. In a word - FANTASTIC

Plot a bit muddled - but effective.

Red showcasing some of his long-lost skills.

Otherwise - RED 1, BAD GUYS 0

Agent Park not at the recital.

Well put!  I enjoyed this more than some of the past episodes.   A Whodunit is always fun. Made me think of Murder by Death.

I really enjoyed Joley Richardson.  I thought she was great.  And it was great to see Red trying to muddle his way out of it.

I didnt see spark either.  I might rewatch this one to see if I missed her.

Redismycopilot,

Cape May is a tough one to Top.

So, Red's dad liked bugs.  Lol

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

Muddled plot is a good description. I wonder if several scenes got cut. The basic idea was good but it got lost in the final production. I wonder if they had to make some last minute changes?

I'll give this episode a B- because none of the characters who really annoy me were in it and it did come together at the end.

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

I always like a good "bunch of people on a remote island in a storm getting murdered one by one over an underlying mystery" story. I enjoyed it. I'm glad it turned out to be fake CIA agents looking for spies, if it had just been the good old CIA that wouldn't have been nearly as interesting. And the butler did it! LOL! I always like when Red has to be resourceful or be killed. Joely Richardson's Cassandra was a perfect foil for him. Just enough anger and disappointment from their last past encounter to keep them from running into each other's arms at the get go. I was happy that they actually got together in the end. Red has needed someone besides Liz in his life for quite some time. Even if it was only short term. He was disappointed that she decided to leave him this time, but she was right in her assessment of Red and his current life. He will always obsess over Liz and Agnes. What did she say at the end?

"You may have come into her life out of obligation; but you're staying in it for love."

I guess the question is who was Cassandra referring to? Liz or Agnes? And obligation to whom, or what? Obligation to Real RR? Katarina? Someone else? An organization? Government?

I tend to think his dad really did like bugs. No reason to tell a fake story to Cassandra at that moment. Besides I think she knows who he is or was. It was funny to have another bug reference, though.

Written by Lukas Reiter, so I figured it would be fun.

Dembe got a rare weekend off. Order pizza, do stuff with the kids. So I guess Dembe does still have a life outside of working for Red.

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

I was wondering if anyone else was left wondering if Red was seeing Madeline Pratt at the same time he was seeing Casandra?

Good points HW.

I think the talk about obligation ties into the imposter theory.

His dad isn't the only one who likes bugs!  Lol

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

His obligation deal made me think back to the Harbormaster's daughter. Maybe he’s the one who was ultimately responsible for real RR getting killed? I need to go back and review Luther Braxton and Liz's Fire memories. I haven’t watched that in ages, certainly not since way before Requiem. But I do seem to recall there was a quick glimpse of a couple of men helping a man towards a door with maybe one or two others in the fiery house? Katarina and Ilya were supposedly with RR when he died and it sounded like he died after they pulled him out of the house. Katarina had said there were too many people at the house. So we don’t know if someone else also helped them get RR out. Or he could have spoken to him before that, while still inside the house, I suppose. We know that Red was there that night, he admitted it to Liz. I have thought for awhile that he was somewhere nearby when RR died and was one of the people who knew for sure that he was dead. it would also make what ghost Katarina said in front of the fireplace in Cape May. "It wasn’t that he died, it was what was said before he died." Or something like that. That was probably the promise made to take care of Masha.

Anyway, just some thoughts about the "obligation". It really makes me think that Red was one of those other men who were there the night of the fire. Someone who's role began as an obligation but grew to love.

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

My favorite part was the ending and seeing Agnes and the people who loved her there. Such a cute little ballerina.

Eastcoast - I too was wondering if Red was seeing Cassandra and Madeleine Pratt at the same time. LOL BL does love its bugs and severed fingers.

RedIsMyCopilot - It was a piece of fluff and not a great mystery, but I still found it enjoyable.  I don't think you can compare it to Cape May since that was sort of a mythology piece. I expect lots of fluff from here on out.

BBB - Jolie Richardson was perfect in that part!

Honey West - I can see why the use of the word obligation made you think of the Harbormaster's daughterr.

And a parting note:  I thought it was strange they made Red and Dembe look the same height. That's never happened before.

Agreed. More. They've been way dark for so long I think we almost forgot what fun it is to watch Red when he has to use his resourcefulness to wiggle out of something. Plus, HE thinks things are "safe" right now, so he has a different attitude, more like he was in the Pilot, which I watched again last weekend for the first time in years.

Agnes was so cute! And it was nice to see the whole team of godparents there to watch her. Aram with the bouquet of flowers. Amir tweeted that he had improvised a scene where he gave her the flowers but it ended up on the cutting room floor. Bet that ends up as a deleted scene on the DVDs.

I didn't think they made Red and Dembe look the same height. I'll look at that again. As they walked down the pier I was thinking how much taller Dembe was and wondering how tall he really is.

EC and Tuxie, I was wondering, as I watched, if he had been seeing her before or after Madeline Pratt. Or at the same time. So we all thought the same thing, LOL! But it sounded to me like he broke off with Cassandra in order to intervene with Liz and Tom, so when he turned himself in. He omitted telling her that he had hired Tom in the first place.

Yes, bugs and severed fingers - LOL! Funny things to laugh about, but so true!

Harbormaster's daughter, yes. He's been trying from the beginning to fix something he caused to happen. Dom even confirmed by basically saying it was all his fault. And we keep seeing Red fixing tangible things. Piano keys, music box, etc. Even if Liz was the one who picked up the gun and shot RR, I'd bet dollars to donuts that it was his gun.

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

Honey West - Check out the part where Red tells Dembe to get a pizza and hugs him goodbye. They appear to be the same height. I think the director made Spader stand on a box. LOL But Cassandra was always a bit taller than Red.

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

I don't know if this is true, but I saw on another site where this episode was originally written for the Cassandra part to be Madeleine Pratt, but the MP actress was not available for the gig.

Regarding the heights - Joely Richardson stands an imposing 5'10" if you can believe it. Just watched her in King Ralph w/ John Goodman on a movie re-run channel last week. She's excellent.
Spader stands no more than 5'8" on his best day so they had to equalize Cassandra & Red by having Red wear those "Donald Trump 2 or 2.5" heel inserts" while Richardson wore flats. Red wearing heel inserts to insure he wasn't dwarfed by Joely also equalized him with the 5'11" Dembe.

Joely Richardson is tall like her mom Vanessa Redgrave, who is 5'11" per IMDb. Joely Richardson is listed as being 5'10".
I will watch that again. Thats funny!

Re: Episode 07-12, Cornelius Ruck

I'm glad it wasn't just me that noticed they have Red seeing 2 different women at the same time.

Tuxie, if they had written it for MP, I wish they could have changed the lines a bit to keep it consistent.   Lol.

Plot continuity is NOT the specialty of the House of Blacklist, that's for darn sure!
