Why do they show Red with a burned face?

I have been pondering again...

A long time ago I had mentioned how they show a man who looks to be Our Red with one side of his face messed up at the beginning of every show.  Looks like burns to me.

I am wondering why do you think they show that?

What would be the point of it?

Are they trying to show he was an imposter of RR before the fire?

And why did they say in one of the interviews that he had Faked his death?  ( I think it was last fall  )

Just looking for some different ideas.

I only have the same old answers I always give you. I never thought the face was burned - I just thought it was in shadow - something to imply he had always been in the shadows of Liz's life.

I need to really look at that again. I have always thought it was just part of the special effects of the opening title animation. But maybe not.
