Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

BBB, well put.  I really liked her.

The only thing I can think of with Park, is that maybe it will bring out something to do with Liz when she was in Alaska?

This whole Aram thing is just way too strange for me.  I do not know what they are thinking?  If they plan to replace him, I would hope he would go out better than being duped like this.  Feels a bit cheeeeezy...

A toast to Combat Nurse Franky - what a wonderful television arc. Going from basically a small cameo as a nurse administering meds to our fair-haired hero (Red) to a valiant exit - perceived as being greedy for money when, in fact she was pushed into a strange corner and essentially used to validate Agent Out of Nowhere (Park) as a member of the task force for the final 10 or so series episodes.

Good work Natalie Paul - maybe you did get a part in another series?

I will toast her performance with you!

Eastcoast - I agree with you about the Aram storyline.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

Aram, the ultimate non-thrill seeker - paired with Elodie, the ultimate thrill-seeker, even at risk of imminent death. That's quite the storyline arc for Aram. Perhaps Samar will come back for a couple episodes to vanquish Thrill-Girl Elodie?

As for Agent Park - she entered this show like a house on fire and her scene with Franky was magnificent, even if it was a bit KILL BILL.

Her Anchorage secret is the reason Liz selected her for duty w/ the Task Force - only Red & Park know what it was - but I highly suspect it had something to do with Russia.

That could very well be the case, along with Triple B's comment about it also having something to do with Russia.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

I really enjoyed this episode after the previous three (and especially Kuwait) were pretty disappointing to me, which is why I didn't really feel like posting about it. The only thing in this episode that bothered me was Elodie's storyline, which doesn't contribute much to the overall plot imo.

I really like agent Park so far, although it would have been better if they introduced her a couple episodes earlier. I feel like her character so far brings more than Samar or Meera did when they were introduced. Her scene with Frankie was quite violent/bloody for the Blacklist but I really enjoyed it as it reminded me of the good old Banshee, a show that was infamous for its violent scenes.

The blacklist case had enough twists and seems to be the "Guillermo Rizal" of this year (in other words an episode that tries to warn us for modern-day problems via a blacklister scientist who is a pioneer in that field). It had some Person of Interest vibes with the AI making its own decisions about what's best for humanity.

With little going on for the main KR plot (which is uninteresting so far anyway) it was nice to see some more character building and I really liked the scenes with Vontae, Brimley and even the cleaners. Still, the previous episodes have been some filler/build-up but it seems like things are starting to roll again after a little peace from the two-part season opener.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

I had one last thought about Agent Park: maybe one of the writers was missing Marvel's Agents of Shield and decided they needed to being May to The Blacklist.

Yes, I agree about a Russian connection in Alaska somehow.

I also wonder if there were originally plans to make Frankie more of a supporting character but the actress became ill or got another job offer. - OR - one of the writers had a brainstorm about how to fix a plot problem, but it involved introducing Agent Park and the scripts had already been set for the first couple of shows. In any case, it feels rushed to me, too.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

Natalie Park (Nurse Franky) could have landed a nice part on a few network shows. I can think of the following:

- The Good Doctor
- Magnum P.I.
- Hawaii Five-0
- NCIS: New Orleans or LA
- New Amsterdam

I think she'd do best on New Amsterdam as a foil to Dr. Iggy Froom

That should be the next show for actors who are killed on The Blacklist!

Samar hasn't found a show yet but the biggest injustice is Amy Acker - after her tour de force as Samanth "Root" Groves on Person of Interest she was swabbed into a miserable "mommy" role on The Gifted (cancelled). Amy spends most of her time doing appearances at Comic & Sci-Fi cons.

The other image from last show is that Park didn't call Nurse Franky - Red did. He just told her that she was his burden - and put a couple killer bullets into her prone torso. Thus, revving up the fact Red is a diabolical campaigner, capable of killing just about anyone. That may have been the purpose of the entire episode. A reminder.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

I have given this some more thought because I was trying to figure out what was bugging me so bad about this.
In the interviews the Johns say they need the time to tell the story the right way.  Well, here was a missed opportunity in my humble opinion to pull together a few loose ends.  There are sooooooo many of them.
I see that Cerone has helped write the next one.  I just do not think at this point we need any wasted moments.
BBB, that could be.

Eastcoast - Yes, they are stretching the story again, a story that probably could have been well told in just three or four seasons.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

The AI was pure "Person of Interest', aka The Machine . . . only thing lacking was Amy Acker's dulcet tones as the Voice of the Machine.

Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell

I enjoyed the episode.  It was filler but it was fun.  I liked the AI story. I liked the intro of Park. I am sorry that we lost Frankie, it seemed like the writers were writing for her to be a regular character and something changed.  I think Red was speaking for all of us when he asks her what happened, and I wonder if Frankie's answer was actually true for her as an actress:

Red: I had such high hopes. What happened? I'm genuinely curious.
Frankie: I wanted to play a different part in another show.

~~~~~
There seemed to be a lot of 'plot devices' on the show that didn't make too much sense but helped the story along. That to me seems to be lazy writing.  Such as:
Where/how did Red get videos of "Katarina" to alter to make the deep fake video of her?
What benefit did Red get from turning in Dr. Powell (who was dead)? He usually benefits from those he gives to the team to find.  Was it just a way to introduce the 'deep fake' concept to the audience?
Why did Park want to tell Red in person that she was quitting the team?   She barely knew him. This makes no sense (other than a plot device to get her to the warehouse to fight Frankie)
What made Park change her mind? Did Red tell Park he'd keep the secret of the brutality of her fight if she stayed on the team?  And is that (another reason) why Red is happy with her, like everyone else on the team, he has something to hold over her?
KathyN, I. Glad you mentioned the video. I have been wondering that since they showed it.
Deep fake. Are they giving us a hint?  Lol
Re: Episode 07:06 - Dr. Lewis Powell
I watched this entirely too late Saturday night. Fell asleep about 5 minutes in and woke up to this new Park agent and Nurse Frankie in a very bloody fight and some broken glass about to be plunged into  Frankie. And then Red’s all, “no I got this! Bang bang!” WTH!  I was hoping Frankie would last.
From the sounds of it, I didn’t miss much, but I still have to go back and watch because I’m so lost.
Franky should get her own spy show - "Frankly speaking!"
