Usually conclusion with a name means that blacklister is out. Interestingly our Louis T. Steinhil is Blacklister #27. Some theorize that numbers from 1 to 20 or thereabouts are significant Blacklisters. We shall see!
I spoke with someone who saw tonight's episode (press) and said it's enjoyable. Knowing this person the way I do, I'm not sure if that's "This is going to be a gas" enjoyable or "General Shiro" enjoyable.
Brace yourself!

Yep -- goodies were stove-popped pop corn with a little real root beer from the A&W restaurant.
Wow! Lots of twists and turns. I'm confused! What else is new? What could KR (or fake KR) want with Dom? At 81, he has been out of the game a LONG time. Was that really a ploy to see if the FBI would rescue them? That would get back to KR/fake KR wanting to know about Cooper.
And that last part about Pittsburgh . . . was it Mr. Kaplin who had the sister in Pittsburgh that she went to see?
And why did Red not kill the nurse? He's right: he has killed for less. I think he's keeping her around for more than just "getting even," maybe to draw KR/Fake KR out?
I missed some of the dialogue: I'm not sure what Dom was saying . . . soapbox? I'll see what the transcript says.
Good episode! Wish we could've seen it last week, but I'll take what I can get.
Looking forward to reading everyone else's comments.

The Nurse has become the standout star of the last two episodes - especially tonite's.
Natalie Paul's emotional connection to Red & even Dembe is superb.
Still not a lot of advancement of information regarding the characters of Rostova & Ilya, just some more bait 'n switch.
Overall - a near A- episode, B+ if not for Natalie Paul making her way onto the set.
Creepy final scene - with Fake Katarina taking a lease down the hall from Liz & child. Just a creepy person - so Laila Robins is an amazing actress - the over done shot of her at the end, morphing from happiness to rage was very well done by the actress.
Some things never change =
KR using Nurse as a tracking device, instructing her to use Red to take her to Dom.

"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
As usual, Redilya sizes up the situation perfectly!

Why would the real "Katarina Rostova" go after her own father? Who acted more like Dom's child in this episode? "Katarina" or Red? In any case, I'm glad Dom is still alive.
Iowa Watcher - Kaplan's sister lived in Chicago.
BBB - The nurse was an excellent character. I did love that "Katarina" was using her in the con. and then Red used her to con K.

Tuxie,
She feels betrayed over something? I get a feeling it has to do with what Dom told Red about making a mess out of everything.

It sounded to me like KR had moved on and made a new life and whatever it was that Red did, it destroyed her family, and I read it as not just her old family but also her new family. I need to rewatch, of course, to see what I still think about that.
So, back to whatever happened in Belgrade again. (Referenced in Luther Braxton - May need to rewatch that one again, too). And Dom had something to do with it. I haven’t forgotten those Serbian books on Dom's shelf that we looked at way back when.
Cooper telling Liz that KR was her relative, but the they were her family.
KR certainly went to great lengths to get Red to lead her to Dom, who seems to have been her target all along. I’m sure she knew all along that Red would die before he gave up whatever he’s keeping secret, so Dom was either the real target or they were great at improvisation.
I just knew that Steinhil had faked his suicide. When he did it and Ressler went into the room, I said that’s gotta be a faked scene. Well done, though. Maybe Red will get to put him on retainer after all.
Loved Red's lecturing of Liz about her questions causing all of this. And Liz's stubborn stand that she deserves answers.
Dom's turn for coma time. And yet another trademark hospital in a warehouse. I think Jodi Walker has dubbed them "warehouspitals". But good way to keep Dom around should Brian Dennehy be available or not for future episodes.
I’m really loving Laila Robins' changing facial expressions. She doesn’t have to say anything. And I wonder how long before Red finds out she’s Liz's Nextdoor neighbor.

Oh, and what’s up with Red referring to Liz as Masha, but Katarina refers to her as Elizabeth?
Offline
Honey West - There was certainly plenty of cryptic talk about betrayal in this episode. Is it possible "Katarina" thinks Masha is dead and doesn't know Elizabeth Keen is Masha?
Offline
Cryptic is right! I was thinking last night that maybe KR's memory had been manipulated after the way her face changed as Liz walked away. Maybe she thinks she is really Jennifer? Who knows?

By the way, did anyone notice the way Dembe answered the phone? He said Raymond as if he knew it was him and yet he was using the nurses phone. :-)

Only person who knows that number is Raymond? Actually, Ressler & Liz have called Dembe before - perhaps he has a dedicated phone for Raymond?

Maybe that's it, a dedicated phone. I know others have his number including his daughter. He also gave a phone to that guy in the last episode to call him.

I'm picturing Dembe with his pockets stuffed full of burner phones.

And it was FLIP PHONE! I can't remember if he's always used one (would have to rewatch a bunch of episodes) but the one dedicated to Red is one
I still do not believe this is Liz's mother. From the dialogue (see below), I think Dom decided to plant a fake Katarina in Belgrade for the Russians to chase so that they'd get off his daughter's (Liz's mom) trail. They set her up with the fake identity of Katarina Rostova as a temporary ruse and cover for the real Katarina to get a new identity (Redarina?) and Dom assured Red that no harm would come to her but something went wrong, maybe the Russians believed it was really her, and she lost her family, etc. To get the Russians off her back, she has to "give then what they want" - ie: the location of the REAL Katarina Rostova.
K: Raymond, please, I don't want to hurt you. This isn't easy for me.
R: Sorry you're having a hard time.
K: You can help me.
R: I've always helped you.
K: No. You pretended to help me. You were never on my side.
R: I came to Paris to warn you.
K: You came to Paris to control me, to keep feeding me your narrative. But I'm done hiding. I won't do it anymore. I can't. Not with Elizabeth asking questions and telling ghost stories.
R: Nobody knows you're alive.
K: They're asking the questions. That's enough.
R: I never betrayed you.
K: The Townsend Directive is my death sentence. Even with your help, I can't outrun them. There's only one way to survive. I have to give them what they want. Tell me how.
R: I have nothing to tell you.
K: We'll see. If you think those secrets of yours are worth dying for? Prove it.
K: I'm afraid hypoxia has set in.The drip, drip of your blood taking with it the oxygen your organs so desperately need. I'm told hypoxia can be quite uncomfortable. I know a little something about pain.
K or R (?): Belgrade.
K: Everything I cared about died that day.
R: I didn't want that.
K: I'd made a life for myself, a family. You blew all that up.
R: I didn't know. Dom promised me no one would get hurt. Said he loved his child and just wanted her to be safe.
K: Do I seem safe to you? Hunted, chased into the shadows.
R: I can't give you what you want.
K: What I want is my family back. No one can give me that back. Least of all you. You can't give me what I want. But you can give me what I need. You want me to believe you had nothing to do with Belgrade.
R: I didn't.
K: That you care about me.
R: Yes.
K: Then prove it. Who's coming for me? How many? And most importantly, the truth.
R: I can't.
K: What is it?! Very well. Dom then. That's right. I found him. I know it's cruel to go after the old man, but you leave me no choice. Something tells me he won't hold up nearly as well.
R: Leave him alone.
K: Gladly. If you give me what I need. Goodbye, Raymond.
R: She knows you tried to kill her, Dom. She wants answers, but she also wants revenge. You set her up, betrayed her.
Nurse: Whose is this?
D: My daughter's.
Nurse: Katarina. That's your daughter? Katarina Rostova?
D: Put it away, please.
Nurse: Your own daughter wants to kill you because you betrayed her?
R: It's complicated.
D: I never betrayed Katarina. She betrayed me.
R: Oh, come on. Enough.
D: Not just me. Our country, our our values, our entire way of life.
R: The truth is, Mila, you've stumbled headlong into a family squabble. And the Rostov family can be rather eccentric.
D: She broke my heart. Made choices I couldn't understand. What was my response?
R: Wait, what did Tolstoy say about unhappy families?
D: Despite all my anger, my frustration, I did what I thought was necessary.
R: "Happy families are all alike, but every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
D: Did I make mistakes? Yes. Do I deserve to die for them? Eh, maybe. If I die, at least I will go to my grave knowing that I did what I did to protect my own.
Dom did what he thought was necessary. He recruited a different Russian spy who fit Katarina's physical description to assume her identity (in that camp I keep bringing up, the one where they train agents to step into another person's life, forget the name at the moment) while the read Katarina escaped (turned into Red? once again, JB leaving this possibility open). And don't you love how every time Dom may be about to reveal more secrets, Red interrupts him to blab on about something just to talk over him? It's supposed to be so he doesn't tell the nurse too much, but it's really so the audience (us) doesn't get too much.
I think once Fakearina failed to get the info she needed from Red, and then failed to get it from Dom, she went to Plan C - abduct Agnes and use her as blackmail to get the info from Red. I expect to see Agnes abducted next week or the week after at the latest.

My question too! And Dembe was using a flip phone. Funny.

MORE:
I think Cooper suspects this is the real Red. He told Liz he was waiting to report the switch to Main Justice because of the hassle, but I think he's really waiting to verify for himself. There are 2 ways he can independently verify without alerting either of them: check Red's CODIS DNA with the DNA he used from the old evidence box that he compared Liz's DNA from CODIS to; or check Red's CODIS DNA to Liz's CODIS DNA (I posted this on last week's thread but I'll repeat it on this thread in case anyone missed it - the DNA in CODIS is from our Red, taken when he turned himself in and taken after Anslo Garrick when they found a pool of his blood on the floor. Liz would also have given a blood sample for CODIS when she joined the FBI so that's on file as well and Cooper has Liz's DNA somewhere anyway because he used it to let her know Reddington of the 80's was her father.)
Liz: Have you decided whether to tell Main Justice?
Cooper: Not yet. But telling them Reddington is really a former KGB agent whose name is Ilya Koslov will cause a firestorm I have no interest in dealing with.
MORE:
I loved that Red finally told off Liz. And even after he told her off, she comes at him again for even more badgering, as he sits at the sick bed of someone who obviously means so much to him (another hint for the Redarina theorists). She is my least favorite character on the show, she's a narcissist, selfish, and spoiled. Of course this begs the question of why no one came after Dom all these years (he was in the FBI files as possibly being Oleander) and why no one came after Liz when it was disclosed in the press that she was the daughter of Katarina when she and Red were on the run, and why no one came after all those years when the Cabal knew she was Katarina's daughter? Ressler wasn't searching for an alive Katarina, he was researching her backstory. Why did that activate the Townsend Directive if the other things didn't?
L: Who grabbed you in Paris? Who tortured you? Why is my grandfather dying in a lumberyard? My question is, what the hell happened?
R: You did. You and Agent Ressler.
L: Excuse me?
R: How many times have I told you? Leave it alone. I warned you. Even saying the name Katarina Rostova has consequences, and now you see. Now you see what that name will make others do. These questions of yours have gotten their attention, and now they will crawl out of whatever hole they were in, and they will hurt whomever they must just on the chance, just on the notion that she might still be alive. "What happened?" Elizabeth. You raised an old ghost, and that's why your grandfather is dying in a lumberyard.
