Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

Thanks for getting the discussion up and running, Tuxie!
Hubs and I decided to sign up for a free trial of Hulu and live tv. Not sure if we'll continue with it, but at least we'll have a great picture for tonight's episode. We're going live!!!
Now who is this "Katarina" person...

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

Since these "American" people are so intent on finding Katarina Rostova to extract secrets from her, I wonder if these people aren't part of the Osterman Umbrella Company - finding high value spies and either terminating them or using them somehow.

It's the only thing I can think of right now that might make sense.

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

Yes, why do these people that "Katarina Rostova" has hired want to know where Katarina Rostova is? Doesn't she know her own location. This episode was like an ourouboros - a serpent eating it's own tail.

Didn't someone in this episode say the Townsend Directive is an order to kill Katarina Rostova?

So glad you got your Box and Internet back! It was a late dinner (7 pm, late for me) of Chinese sweet & sour chicken from the HyVee (grocery) China Express. I didn't get off work until 6:15 and wasn't about to cook with TBL on!

Good show tonight! Can't figure out what Katerina wants with Cooper.

Added: If Redington is the "real" Redington, this whole thing makes a lot more sense because he probably stole Elizabeth and hid her, which is one of the answers that Katerina wants, maybe. I would think Elizabeth could be found easily enough, now that she's an adult.

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

I can definitely sign on to fake Red actually being RealRed after this episode, so count me in.

As to this woman, I do not believe she's the real Katarina.  fwiw.

So one vote for maybe this actually being RealRed, one vote for this being FakeKat.

It's entirely possible! There's a good chance that the real Katerina has been dead for many years, and the "real" Red killed her. Or maybe Liz killed her, but that would really strain the mythology if true.

I'm still waiting for one of the bodies that Mr. Kaplan unearthed to play into some future script. Maybe one of them could be the "real" Katerina.

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

I hate two parters that are aired a week apart!

Katarina asked her head henchman if the Elizabeth Keen intel was solid and he said yes. I wonder why she didn’t mention her as Masha? I suppose it’s because she’s going to do her insinuating thing in upcoming episodes and the intel is for that.

I'm inclined to think that KR wants to know more about Cooper because maybe she doesn’t know what Reds real relationship is to the task force? And worries that it could compromise whatever she’s been doing. Obviously she has a lot of power and connections. I kept thinking, similar to Reds operations. Or maybe because Cooper has a past link to the real Reddington? I also got the impression that Cooper wasn’t buying the whole Fake Red story and was convinced this is the Real Red. Then again that could be him covering for whatever Reds real mission is all this time. But he seemed pretty genuine about it. We all pretty much figure that Cooper knows more than he’s let on, but we don’t really know what it is that he knows more about - Reds identity or his mission, or both.

So everyone is really in the US. Annapolis is a most interesting choice of location. Not only close to DC, but home of the Naval Academy. Coincidence? I think not!

And I also predict that Red and Ressler's shared blood type may come back into play by the looks of things for next week. The nurse clearly didn’t like having to do that to Red. I hope KR doesn’t have her killed, but based on what happened to that other guy who failed her, I don’t give her much of a chance unless Red somehow saves her.

That’s all I can think of tonight.

Honey West - You thought of much more than I did.  We didn't know any more by the end of the episode than we did in the beginning - except that Red was in Annapolis instead of Paris.

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

Kinda liked everything about this episode (acting, direction, photography, illusions, etc.) other than the deceleration of information we get out of these "important" eps.

Show-runners continue to run their shell-game so the game is again afoot.

Loved Insp. Rene Aubois (sic) and how he clearly identified himself as a professional criminal. Watch how he closes the blinds with his palms vs. his fingers. Obviously, his prints are registered.

Also loved the nurse. How Red used her was both sinister and adorable. She has a certain fondness for the man - and that might be his only out while Laila has him Christ-chained to the wire fence (they always go overboard on torture on this show - 1st the fake crippling of Reddington, now the fence!

Red may actually be trying to find Dembe a wife and the nurse (played deliciously by Natalie Paul) may suit the bill?

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

Agree, BBB.

Another thing is that they said they wanted Katarina for the secrets she knows. Back again to her role as a Secretkeeper. Who called her that before? Was it Red or Velov? KR's importance may be more for what she knows rather than who she is. Which is interesting because if it's damaging they would just kill her, so she must be more valuable alive than dead for what she knows. Maybe she is the vault of information and Liz is somehow the key? Or someone thinks so.

I think last night didn't reveal a whole lot because it was only half of the two parter.

Re: Episode 7.01 Lous T. Steinhil: Season Premiere

I felt this episode was very entertaining. Katarina is still a mystery. Red was still incredibly resourceful. Liz was... Liz. Aram "You really need therapy". And Cooper's protestation about "I worked with Reddington!" all very interesting.

What I found most breathtaking was when they opened up the hospital to the movie/film set, everyone doing their thing, playing cards, taking a lunch break, set walls moving and props everywhere. Reminiscent of two things:
First, when Ressler and Keen are abducted into the fake Walter Reed Hospital, and Liz slips the scissors out of the nurse's pocket so that she and Ressler can escape.
Second, when Red and Keen are staying at Greta's theatre while they are on the lam, the one where Red recites Mother Courage to Liz and she says, "You're a terrible actor". They converse, then he tells her he's going to go to bed, he gets up, walks to the bedroom door, opens it and enters the bedroom. And yet, we can clearly see he could have stepped to the side and walked right in without bothering with the door. It's a theatre set, not a real home. I think the camera even pans up to see the open ceiling and the wall partitions.

Why does this interest me? Because this whole show has been about people and things who are not who they appear to be. It's a magic show. I keep thinking this is how it will end. Like "The Truman Show"
